Results from a cervical cancer screening program in Samsun, Turkey
Background: Cervical cancer is a preventable disease. This study aimed to share the results of the national cervical cancer screening program performed in primary health care institutions in Samsun between 2015 and 2019. Methods: Women aged 30–65 years who were screened for cervical cancer in screening centers of Samsun between January 01, 2015, and December 31, 2019, were included in this descriptive study. The data were obtained from the automation program of the “National Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Laboratory Application” used by the Provincial Directorate of Health Cancer Unit through filtering the completion time of the tests, and all results were evaluated without sampling. Thus, data were presented using descriptive statistics. Results: The mean age of 89,302 women included in the cervical cancer screening program was 45.9 ± 9.0 years. Of the samples obtained from the participants, 1.0% were determined as insufficient material, 94.1% as HPV-negative, and 4.9% as HPV-positive. The most common HPV genotypes were 16, 51, 31, and 52. Of the 4337 HPV-positive women, 74.7% of the pap smear results were negative (including infection, 36.5%), and the most common premalignant lesions were atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance in 7.1% and low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions in 6.9%. HPV 16/18 was also observed in 31.7% of HPV-positive women. Seven hundred ninety-five women were referred to a specialist physician for further examination and treatment within the scope of the screening algorithm. Conclusion: Detecting HPV-positivity by reaching more women within the national cervical cancer screening program’s scope is vital in fighting against this disease. The effectiveness of cancer screening programs should be increased by ensuring community participation through awareness activities. © 2022, The Author(s)
Life on the Ottoman Border: Essays in Honour of Nenad Moačanin
The articles written by friends, colleagues, former students, and one current doctoral student collected in this celebratory volume dedicated to the doyen of Ottoman studies in Croatia, Professor Nenad Moačanin, are divided into three main chapters entitled “Ottoman Bosnia, Turkish Croatia, and Turkey in Europe,” “Distant Borders and Regions,” and “Glimpses Beyond the Ottoman Border: Habsburg Croatia and the Republic of Dubrovnik.”
The first section consists of the articles predominantly dedicated to the main fields of interests of Nenad Moačanin, namely social and economic history of the Ottoman Empire, with special focus on Ottoman Bosnia, the Balkans and Central Europe, as well as the Ottoman borderland in Croatia.
The second section entitled “Distant Borders and Regions” brings three articles which are geographically remote from the Western Balkans and Central Europe, such as Crimea, Syria, and Palestine, but nevertheless fit well into the conception of the volume by offering a possibility for comparison of distant regions.
The third section “Glimpses Beyond the Ottoman Border: Habsburg Croatia and the Republic of Dubrovnik” contains five articles which provide an important insight into the situation on “the other side.”
The volume also includes a biographical overview of Professor Moačanin’s scientific and educational career at the beginning, and the bibliography at the end of the volume .The articles written by friends, colleagues, former students, and one current doctoral student collected in this celebratory volume dedicated to the doyen of Ottoman studies in Croatia, Professor Nenad Moačanin, are divided into three main chapters entitled “Ottoman Bosnia, Turkish Croatia, and Turkey in Europe,” “Distant Borders and Regions,” and “Glimpses Beyond the Ottoman Border: Habsburg Croatia and the Republic of Dubrovnik.”

Turkologu u čast! Zbornik radova povodom 70. rođendana Ekrema Čauševića
Few professions are so closely associated with a specific individual. Few individuals are so attached to their vocations that it is impossible to observe them separately. In Croatia the word turkologist has become almost synonymous with Professor Ekrem Čaušević, a scholar known world-wide, who established the first university program in Turkish studies in the country—hence the title for the collection of essays dedicated to the Professor on the occasion of his 70th birthday. This volume contains twenty-five papers, mostly from the realm of Turkish studies, authored by the Professor’s colleagues, friends and associates. There are many links in it to the honoree—dedications, acknowledgments, and references to his works—eloquent reminders of the influence of his research accomplishments and longstanding successful collaboration with scholars in Turkish studies, Croatian studies, historians and linguists. Contributions authored by junior colleagues in Turkish studies are proof of the Professor’s determination to encourage the most competent students to engage in research. The diverse topics in this volume reflect the extensive research interests of Ekrem Čaušević. The first part, “Philology”, is focused on the area Čaušević contributed to the most. The second part, “History”, contains contributions that do not belong to the research interests of Ekrem Čaušević in the narrower sense. However, historiography still presents a relevant and valuable framework for his linguistic works which include a diachronic perspective as well.

Hiyaluronik asit’in endometriyum dokusunda v3 integrin ve matriks metalloproteinaz ekspresyonuna etkisi.
Implantation is a complex process which various factors from the embryo and the endometrium takes place. In this study we use 48 female rat. The rats were divided in two groups and from each group 6 rats bilateral ovariectomized. 0,6 ml hyaluronic asid given to experimental group rats. 24 hours after injection menstrual cycles of rats which are not ovariectomized, detected by vaginal smears prior to cervical dislocation. Cervical dislocation done to eustrus (n=6), dieustrus (n=6), proeustrus (n=6) rats and ovariectomy (n=6) rats. In control group menstrual cycles of rats which are not ovariectomized, detected by vaginal smears prior to cervical dislocation. Cervical dislocation done to eustrus (n=6), dieustrus (n=6), proeustrus (n=6) rats and ovariectomy (n=6) rats. Followed by conventional light microscopy method, the tissue sections were cut from paraffin blocks. Immunohistochemical procedures were performed in order to determine the reaction of ?V, ?3 and matrix metalloproteinases to tissue sections. The important results of our study taken from the eustrus, dieustrus and ovariectomy groups. In this groups ?V and ?3 integrin showed negative staning for both surface epitelial cells and glandular epitelial cells. In the experimental group which hyaluronic asid given, in both phases glandular and surface epitelial cells shows positive staning interestingly. In eustrus group staning is both nuclear and cytoplasmic but in dieustrus group staning is only cytoplasmic. In both groups there is no reaction in stromal cells but weak reaction seen in fibers. As a result hysluronic asid was found to increase the expression of ?V, ?3 integrin and matrix metalloproteinases

Investigation of electrochemical properties of some Sb(iii) complexes and studying of inhibition effects to glutation reductase by square wave voltammetry
In this study, reduction potentials, diffusion coefficients and transferred electron numbers of four Sb(III) complexes were determined using hanging mercury electrode by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry in aqueous solution.
In addition, inhibition effect of Sb (III) complexes to reduced glutathione that determines the IC50 values of glutathione reductase enzyme was investigated by square wave voltammetry.
GSH determination was performed by square wave voltammetry. Limit of detection and limit of quantification of reduced glutathione were as 7.89×10-7 M and 2.69×10-6 M respectively.
As a result of enzymatic reaction of the enzyme in the complex and different concentrations of complex, Km and Vmax values were calculated. According to the calculated Km and Vmax values, it is determined that the actual inhibition is competitive inhibition
