    Theory of justice: Beyond the national limits

    La teoría de la justicia generalmente trata problemas que se dan dentro de los límites nacionales, es decir, justicia e injusticia tienen en cuenta lo que pasa dentro de estos límites y a aquellos sujetos reconocidos como ciudadanos de ese país. Sin embargo, en los últimos años el debate de la teoría de la justicia se ha centrado no solo en qué es una injusticia sino también en quién debe ser tenido en cuenta como sujeto de justicia. Podemos entender como injusticia la exclusión por parte de las instituciones hacia aquellos sujetos a los que no consideran ciudadanos, haciéndoles imposible reclamar justicia. La pregunta que hacemos es: ¿cómo podemos establecer quién está legitimado como sujeto de justicia?Theory of justice generally addresses issues within national borders, which means that justice and injustice only take into account what happens inside the borders of a country and those are recognized as citizen of that country. However, in recent years the debate around theory of justice has focused not only on what an injustice is, but also on who should be taken into account as subject of justice. Injustice could be also understood as the exclusion performed by institutions towards subjects who are not taken as citizens, making it impossible for them to claim justice. So the question is: how can we establish who is a legitimate subject of justice

    In this project, English is analysed as an international language and vehicle of communication in the tourist industry, especially in hotel industry and means of transports: air transport, water-based transport and rail transportation. It is studied to what extent English is used by professional people in the sector and by inbound tourists, find out what is their level.     New global referencing approach in a Camera-LCD micro positioning system

    In any precision manufacturing process, positioning systems play a very important role in achieving a quality product. As a new approach to current systems, camera-LCD positioning systems are a new technology that can provide substantial improvements enabling better accuracy and repeatability. However, in order to provide stability to the system a global positioning system is required. This paper presents an improvement of a positioning system based on the treatment of images on an LCD in which a new algorithm with absolute reference has been implemented. The method is based on basic geometry and linear algebra applied to computer vision. The algorithm determines the spiral center using an image taken at any point. Consequently, the system constantly knows its position and does not lose its reference. Several modifications of the algorithm are proposed and compared. The simulation and test of the algorithm provide an important improvement in the reliability and stability of the positioning system providing errors of microns for the calculation of the global position used by the algorithm

    The effect of Midazolam and Propranolol on fear memory reconsolidation in ethanol-withdrawn rats: Influence of D-cycloserine

    Background: Withdrawal from chronic ethanol facilitates the formation of contextual fear memory and delays the onset to extinction, with its retrieval promoting an increase in ethanol consumption. Consequently, manipulations aimed to reduce these aversive memories, may be beneficial in the treatment of alcohol discontinuation symptoms. Related to this, pharmacological memory reconsolidation blockade has received greater attention due to its therapeutic potential. Methods: Here, we examined the effect of post-reactivation amnestic treatments such as Midazolam (MDZ, 3 mg/kg i.p) and Propranolol (PROP, 5 mg/kg i.p) on contextual fear memory reconsolidation in ethanol- withdrawn (ETOH) rats. Next, we examined whether the activation of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors induced by d-cycloserine (DCS, 5 mg/kg i.p., a NMDA partial agonist) before memory reactivation can facilitate the disruptive effect of PROP and MDZ on fear memory in ETOH rats. Results: We observed a resistance to the disruptive effect of both MDZ and PROP following memory reactivation. Although intra-basolateral amygdala (BLA; 1.25 ug/side) and systemic PROP administration attenuated fear memory in DCS pre-treated ETOH rats, DCS/MDZ treatment did not affect memory in these animals. Finally, a decrease of both total and surface protein expression of the α1 GABAA receptor (GABAA-R) subunit in BLA was found in the ETOH rats. Conclusions: Ethanol withdrawal facilitated the formation of fear memory resistant to labilization post-reactivation. DCS administration promoted the disruptive effect of PROP on memory reconsolidation in ETOH rats. The resistance to MDZ's disruptive effect on fear memory reconsolidation may be, at least in part, associated with changes in the GABAA-R composition induced by chronic ethanol administration/withdrawal.Fil: Ortiz, Vanesa.     A phenomenological cohesive model of ferroelectric fatigue

    We develop a phenomenological model of electro-mechanical ferroelectric fatigue based on a ferroelectric cohesive law that couples mechanical displacement and electric-potential discontinuity to mechanical tractions and surface-charge density. The ferroelectric cohesive law exhibits a monotonic envelope and loading–unloading hysteresis. The model is applicable whenever the changes in properties leading to fatigue are localized in one or more planar-like regions, modeled by the cohesive surfaces. We validate the model against experimental data for a simple test configuration consisting of an infinite slab acted upon by an oscillatory voltage differential across the slab and otherwise stress free. The model captures salient features of the experimental record including: the existence of a threshold nominal field for the onset of fatigue; the dependence of the threshold on the applied-field frequency; the dependence of fatigue life on the amplitude of the nominal field; and the dependence of the coercive field on the size of the component, or size effect. Our results, although not conclusive, indicate that planar-like regions affected by cycling may lead to the observed fatigue in tetragonal PZT
