Most avocados consumed in France come from Peru or Chile. French suppliers vary based on the season; however, Chile is the main supplier of avocados during the winter season. The aim of this study is to analyze the key variables that influence French consumer satisfaction in the preference for Chilean avocados. This is substantiated using an exploratory multivariate analysis, which was performed on a causal model comprised of endogenous constructs: perceived extrinsic and intrinsic quality, perceived risk and perceived value. The sample consists of 346 French consumers of Chilean avocados in supermarkets of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The main results show that the risk perceived by French consumers can only be related to the perceived extrinsic quality of the product. On the other hand, both perceived intrinsic and extrinsic quality are directly related to perceived value. Finally, it is concluded that French consumer satisfaction in the preference for Chilean avocados can be explained by the variables perceived intrinsic quality, perceived extrinsic quality and perceived value

During the time in which the psychopedagogical sessions are conducted, the parents should participate in the learning process of the students in order to help them in the extracurricular field. They can help to instil, develop and strengthen the study habits with the work carried out by the Psychopedagogists. In this regard, it is pivotal to determine the role played by the parents in the study habits. This is particularly relevant as many times students show learning difficulties or general learning issues. For this study a qualitative methodology was applied, following a phenomenological perspective and an interpretative paradigm. The sample was composed of six parents, aged between 26 and 54. Therefore, six semi-structured interviews were conducted in order to inquire and delve into the role they played in development of the study habits of their children, considering the following dimensions: knowledge, development and perspectives. The obtained results highlighted that the role of the parents is active, awarding a passive role to the students. They perform this active role by implementing study techniques, technological tools, seeking support from other people (Teachers, Psychopedagogists, Psychologists, etc.), and the attempt to establish study schedules prior to tests or academic activities. Participants also empathized the relevance that these activities have in their children's’ school performance, as they perceived a relationship between them and the learning results (understood in this context as grades). Finally, it is expected that this research contributes in a future improvement of the waiting times of the parents during the psychopedagogical sessions carried by the students in the CPA. This can be done by taking into consideration the study habits and how to encourage them in a concrete, effective and significant way. This will help to support the students’ educative process throughout informative talks, workshops, projects and programs that respond to the results provided by this research

Epidemiological investigations of the introduction of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus in Chile, 2013-2015

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome ( PRRS) is endemic in most pork producing countries. In Chile, eradication of PRRS virus ( PRRSV) was successfully achieved in 2009 as a result of the combined efforts of producers and the animal health authorities. In October 2013, after several years without detecting PRRSV under surveillance activities, suspected cases were confirmed on a commercial swine farm. Here, we describe the PRRS epidemic in Chile between October 2013 and April 2015, and we studied the origins and spread of PRRSV throughout the country using official surveillance data and Bayesian phylogenetic analysis. Our results indicate that the outbreaks were caused by a PRRSV closely related to viruses present in swine farms in North America, and different from the strain that circulated in the country before 2009. Using divergence time estimation analysis, we found that the 2013-2015 PRRSV may have been circulating in Chile for at least one month before the first detection. A single strain of PRRSV spread into a limited number of commercial and backyard swine farms. New infections in commercial systems have not been reported since October 2014, and eradication is underway by clearing the disease from the few commercial and backyard farms that remain positive. This is one of the few documented experiences of PRRSV introduction into a disease-free country.Asociacion Gremial de Productores de Cerdo de Chile (ASPROCER) / FONDEF, 14i10201 / CONICYT-PIA, Anillo140
