Adescription, with figures, is presented of Tipula (Lunatipula) cillibema sp. n., a species from the province Mugla, Southwestern Turkey. The species is close to T. (L.) imbecilla Loew, from areas near Rhodos. Both species are assigned to the macroselene group sensu Mannheims (1965), and their position within this species group is discussed

Data PaperBackground The InBIO Barcoding Initiative (IBI) Diptera 02 dataset contains records of 412 crane fly specimens belonging to the Diptera families: Limoniidae, Pediciidae and Tipulidae. This dataset is the second release by IBI on Diptera and it greatly increases the knowledge on the DNA barcodes and distribution of crane flies from Portugal. All specimens were collected in Portugal, including six specimens from the Azores and Madeira archipelagos. Sampling took place from 2003 to 2019. Specimens have been morphologically identified to species level by taxonomists and belong to 83 species in total. The species, represented in this dataset, correspond to about 55% of all the crane fly species known from Portugal and 22% of crane fly species known from the Iberian Peninsula. All DNA extractions and most specimens are deposited in the IBI collection at CIBIO, Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resourcesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Part 4 is the final part of a revision of the western palaearctic Nephrotoma species. A key to these species is presented. Discussed are the species N. analis (Schummel, 1833), N. euchroma (Mik, 1874), N. subanalis (Mannheims, 1951), N. semiflava (Strobl, 1909), N. lamellata (Riedel, 1910), N. flavipalpis (Meigen, 1830), N. malickyi Martinovský, 1979, N. alluaudi (Pierre, 1921), N. eugeniae (Savchenko, 1957), N. lundbecki (Nielsen, 1907), and N. ramulifera Tjeder, 1955. Furthermore four species erroneously referred to Nephrotoma, or recorded thus from the western palaearctic are discussed

The western palaearctic species of Nephrotoma Meigen, 1803, (Diptera, Tipulidae) Part 1

Part 1 of this study deals with the western palaearctic species of the cornicina group (Savchenko, 1973b). For each taxon the references, type-material, material examined, description, biology and distribution are presented and discussed. Six taxa are new to science (lempkei, appendiculata pertenua, theowaldi, fontana, exastigma and sardegniensis), one is redefined (astigma) and one is given a new status (surcoufi). The females of beckeri, saccai, forcipata and schaeuffelei are described for the first time. Thirty-seven names are known in the literature for twenty-six taxa discussed

The originally East Palaearctic crane fly Tipula (Platytipula) moiwana (Matsumura, 1916) (Diptera, Tipulidae) found in Oslo, an addition to the Norwegian fauna

Females of the autumn crane fly Tipula (Platytipula) moiwana (Matsumura, 1916) were collected along the river Ljanselva in Oslo. This species was hitherto only known from the easternmost Palaearctic and from the Moscow and Tula regions in Russia. It has a characteristic wing pattern, which made it possible to distinguish even females from other known species in the subgenus Platytipula Matsumura, 1916. Its typical habitat and Palaearctic distribution are discussed. Posted here with permission from the journal.
