Leading Teaching and Learning in the Era of Education 4.0: The Relationship between Perceived Teacher Competencies and Teacher Attitudes toward Change
Abstract: The objective of the survey was to examine the relationship between perceived teacher competencies in the era of Education 4.0 (TCEdu4.0) and teacher attitudes toward change (TATC) in Malaysian secondary schools. A total of 1,293 teachers from 80 secondary schools that were chosen using disproportionate stratified sampling method completed the questionnaires with valid data. The results demonstrated that, i) there was a significant, positive and strong correlation between TCEdu4.0 and TATC; and ii) except Functional and Research Competency, Self-Management and Interactive Competency, Leading Learning and Mentoring, Problem Solving, Technological and Digital Competency, and Pedagogical Psychology and Assessment were the five predictors of TATC that contributed 49.20% to the total variation. The study re-affirms the practicality of the competency and planned behavioural theories, provides evidence that teacher’s individual factor is a major determinant of attitudes toward change. Moreover, it expands the understanding among educational practitioners regarding the interplay between these two variables and is a significant resource for Institut Aminuddin Baki in developing future training programmes for school leaders in enhancing TCEdu4.0 and TATC. In summary, the study offers valuable insights for driving school change effectively that sustainable school change is correlated to individual factors
Vaginal yeast infections in diabetic women
Two hundred and three diabetic women (89 with and 114 without genital symptoms) were examined for the presence of yeasts and Trichomonas vaginalis. Yeasts were isolated from the vaginas of 35,5% of patients and were more common in the symptomatic group (48,0%) than the asymptomatic group (25,4%; P < 0,(5). Candida albicans was isolated from 12,8% of all patients and showed a significant association with pruritus vulvae (P < 0,(5). A significant association was also shown between the presence of yeasts in the rectum and in the vagina. C. glabrata (Torulopsis glabrata) was the COmDlonest yeast species isolated (50,0%), with C. albicans the next most frequent (36,1%). T. vaginalis infection was present in 14,3% of all subjects
Effects of Crude Plant Extracts from Five Parts of Melia azedarach on Tribolium confusum
Tribolium confusum is one of the most common pests of many commodities, especially cereals and their products. These pests are known for being the most destructive insect pests attacking and infesting stored flour and grain in soil, warehouses, grocery stores, and homes. Therefore, this study aims to control these pests with an environmentally friendly, healthier, and cost-effective pesticide instead of the common artificial chemicals to practice the current management of cereal storage pest control in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. For this to be achieved, the toxicity effect of crude plant extracts from five different parts of Melia azedarach in tap water with concentrations of 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% at different times (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 h) against stored-product insect was tested. The toxicity effect of these extracts varied based on the crude plant part extracts, concentrations, and exposure period according to the SAS system investigation on the mortality rate of T. confusum adults (Duncan test). The extracts’ compatibility with treated adults of T. confusum in the clear petri dish was noted. Besides, the number of dead adults was measured by loss of motion
Isothermal Modelling Based Experimental Study of Dissolved Hydrogen Sulfide Adsorption from Waste Water using Eggshell Based Activated Carbon
This paper reports on the experimental work using batch process conducted to determine the adsorption capacity of dissolved hydrogen sulfide in the synthetic wastewater onto the activated carbon which is derived from the eggshell. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and particle size distribution have been used to characterize the prepared material. The raw materials of chicken eggshell are adopted to retrieve the carbon content which is then activated using KOH as the activation agent. The examined concentration of dissolved hydrogen sulfide is ranging from 100 to 500 ppm. The maximum adsorption capacity of the dissolved H2S onto the activated carbon is 289.3 mg/g and the equilibrium time is 6 hours. The examined pH value in this study is ranging from 4.5 to
5.5. The two well-known equilibrium adsorption isotherm models, i.e. the Langmuir and the Freundlich models, are employed. It is found that the adsorption isotherm capacity agrees very well to the Freundlich isotherm model. This paper attempts to show the difficulties of converting CaCO
3 to carbon due to the fact that the raw material contains higher calcium (Ca) content instead of carbon. It is concluded that the carbon derived from the chickens’ eggshells is very beneficial for treatment of dissolved H2S
in waste water
Oil palm leaf fibre and its suitability for paper-based products
Due to the shortage of wood as origin materials for paper-based production, agro-residue materials have been explored in the quest of finding the best alternative fibre. Oil palm leaf (OPL) is one of agro-residue that has potential due to its comparable characteristics with wood fibre. Studies on chemical compositions, fibre morphology, and mechanical property of OPL have been carried out aiming to evaluate its potential as a substitute raw material for pulp and paper-based production. The chemical compositions were analysed according to the TAPPI standard, Kurscher-Hoffner and chlorite methods accordingly. The mechanical property (tensile, tearing and bursting strengths) were determined as described in TAPPI test methods. Fibre dimensions were determined using Franklin method and analysed under the optical microscope. The content of cellulose in the OPL is determined to be 43.8%. Although, this result is lower than wood fibre (53%), OPL has higher hemicellulose content (36.4%) than the wood fibre (27.5%). In addition, the lignin content (19.7%) of OPL is in the low range of those in wood resources (18 - 25%). These parameters are important components to produce good quality pulp and will provide high mechanical strength of the paper-based products. The measured fibre length of oil palm leaf (1.13 mm) is shorter than the wood fibre (1.90 mm). Meanwhile, the mechanical property of OPL showed lower indexes than wood resources, however, tear (1.80 mN.m2/g) and burst (0.95 kPa.m2/g) indexes of OPL are higher than other published and successful wood resources (Eucalyptus). Based on the analyses, the oil palm leaf is indeed a suitable alternative of raw material for pulp and paper-based industries
Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Mn-Bi-Sb Alloys
MnBi1-xSbx alloys were prepared by the conventional melt technique. The Seebeck coefficient (S), electrical resistivity (ρ), and magnetic susceptibility (c) were measured at various temperatures ranging from ~100 to 400 K. The electrical resistivity of x £ 0.15 shows both semiconducting and metallic behavior depending on temperature and Sb content, whereas samples x 3 0.2 have only semiconductor behavior in all the temperature range. The negative sign of the Seebeck coefficient increases, i.e., the positivity decreases with the increasing Sb content. The magnetic susceptibility (χ) shows that alloys undergo ferro-paramagnetic transition at a certain temperature (TC) and the TC values decrease with increasing Sb content. From thermoelectric measurements and electronic thermal conductivity calculated, it was observed that Sb doping increases the power factor (PF) and the figure of merit (ZT). Thus, Sb content plays an essential role in making these alloys applicable in the thermoelectric industry
Necessary and sufficient condition for longitudinal magnetoresistance
Since the Lorentz force is perpendicular to the magnetic field, it should not
affect the motion of a charge along the field. This argument seems to imply
absence of longitudinal magnetoresistance (LMR) which is, however, observed in
many materials and reproduced by standard semiclassical transport theory
applied to particular metals. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition on
the shape of the Fermi surface for non-zero LMR. Although an anisotropic
spectrum is a pre-requisite for LMR, not all types of anisotropy can give rise
to the effect: a spectrum should not be separable in any sense. More precisely,
the combination , where is the radial
component of the momentum in a cylindrical system with the z-axis along the
magnetic field and ) is the radial (tangential) component
of the velocity, should depend on the momentum along the field. For some
lattice types, this condition is satisfied already at the level of
nearest-neighbor hopping; for others, the required non-separabality occurs only
if next-to-nearest-neighbor hopping is taken into account.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure
Performance and Combustion Characteristics of an SI Engine Fueled With Fusel Oil-Gasoline at Different Water Content
The main objective of the current study is to investigate the impacts of fusel oil-gasoline blends with different water content on performance and combustion characteristics of an SI engine. The water content of fusel oil is reduced by employing rotary extractor method. The parameters examined in the current study are the effects of test fuels upon engine performance criteria, fuel combustion, location of CA50 and coefficient of variation of indicated mean effective pressure (COVIMEP). The experiments are conducted in a SI engine with two blending ratio of gasoline-fusel oil (FBWE10 and FAWE10) in addition to pure gasoline as a standard fuel under different engine speeds and constant 45% of WOT engine load. The study results reveal that engine power, torque, and brake thermal efficiency have slightly improved with fusel oil-gasoline blends that were obvious clearly after reduction of water content. On the other hand, though the brake specific fuel consumption of FAWE10 slightly improve compared to FBWE10 but still higher than gasoline. Furthermore, the peak in-cylinder pressure, rate of heat release, and rate of pressure rise enhanced with fusel oil-gasoline blends. The (CA 0–10) and (CA 10–90) duration could be simultaneously decreased by reducing the water content of fusel oil, all of that are helpful to improve the stability of combustion and thought to be reasons for the reduction in COVIMEP. As a conclusion, the reduction of fusel oil water content has played positively to enhance the combustion and performance characteristics of the fuel blend and result in more stable engine operation
Radio continuum and far-infrared emission from the galaxies in the Eridanus group
The Eridanus galaxies follow the well-known radio-FIR correlation. Majority
(70%) of these galaxies have their star formation rates below that of the Milky
Way. The galaxies having a significant excess of radio emission are identified
as low luminosity AGNs based on their radio morphologies obtained from the GMRT
observations. There are no powerful AGNs (L{20cm} > 10^{23} W Hz^{-1}) in the
group. The two most far-infrared and radio luminous galaxies in the group have
optical and HI morphologies suggestive of recent tidal interactions. The
Eridanus group also has two far-infrared luminous but radio-deficient galaxies.
It is believed that these galaxies are observed within a few Myr of the onset
of an intense star formation episode after being quiescent for at least a 100
Myr. The upper end of the radio luminosity distribution of the Eridanus
galaxies (L_{20cm} ~ 10^{22} W Hz^{-1}) is consistent with that of the field
galaxies, other groups, and late-type galaxies in nearby clusters.Comment: 16 pages; Accepted for publication in Journal of Astroph. & Astron.
