Higher index focus-focus singularities in the Jayne-Cummings-Gaudin model : symplectic invariants and monodromy

    Get PDF
We study the symplectic geometry of the Jaynes-Cummings-Gaudin model with n=2m1n=2m-1 spins. We show that there are focus-focus singularities of maximal Williamson type (0,0,m)(0,0,m). We construct the linearized normal flows in the vicinity of such a point and show that soliton type solutions extend them globally on the critical torus. This allows us to compute the leading term in the Taylor expansion of the symplectic invariants and the monodromy associated to this singularity.Comment: 39 page

Dynamical lattice computation of the Isgur-Wise functions τ1/2 and τ3/2

    Get PDF
We perform a two-flavor dynamical lattice computation of the Isgur-Wise functions t1/2 and t3/2 at zero recoil in the static limit. We find t1/2(1) = 0.297(26) and t3/2(1) = 0.528(23) fulfilling Uraltsev’s sum rule by around 80%. We also comment on a persistent conflict between theory and experiment regarding semileptonic decays of B mesons into orbitally excited P wave D mesons, the so-called “1/2 versus 3/2 puzzle”, and we discuss the relevance of lattice results in this context

Species separation and modification of neutron diagnostics in inertial-confinement fusion

The different behaviours of deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in the hot spot of marginally-igniting cryogenic DT inertial-confinement fusion (ICF) targets are investigated with an ion Fokker-Planck model. With respect to an equivalent single-species model, a higher density and a higher temperature are found for T in the stagnation phase of the target implosion. In addition, the stagnating hot spot is found to be less dense but hotter than in the single-species case. As a result, the fusion reaction yield in the hot spot is significantly increased. Fusion neutron diagnostics of the implosion find a larger ion temperature as deduced from DT reactions than from DD reactions, in good agreement with NIF experimental results. ICF target designs should thus definitely take ion-kinetic effects into account

Reconfiguration of Distributed Information Fusion System ? A case study

    Get PDF
Information Fusion Systems are now widely used in different fusion contexts, like scientific processing, sensor networks, video and image processing. One of the current trends in this area is to cope with distributed systems. In this context, we have defined and implemented a Dynamic Distributed Information Fusion System runtime model. It allows us to cope with dynamic execution supports while trying to maintain the functionalities of a given Dynamic Distributed Information Fusion System. The paper presents our system, the reconfiguration problems we are faced with and our solutions.Comment: 6 pages - Preprint versio

The Impact of Interface Quality on Trust in Web Retailers

    Get PDF
Web retailing is expected to grow at aggressive rates in future years. One of the most important factors that is slowing down this growth is the lack of trust of potential customers. So, as transactions through the internet develop and mature, success will largely be dependent on gaining and0501ntaining this trust. It has been suggested that the quality of the user interface of the Web site is a determinant of the initial establishment of trust. In this article, we describe a study where 66 subjects were asked to perform some predefined book purchasing task in a series of sites with varying interface quality. We found a strong relationship between interface quality and trust. We also found some components of user interface quality to be more important than others and discuss the implications for Web site design.
