    Este artigo pretende expor a teoria cartesiana da criação encontrada nas Meditações, da qual decorre coerentemente a teoria da livre criação das verdades eternas desenvolvida por Descartes nas Cartas, entre os anos de 1630 e 1649. Fazendo isso, tenta-se refutar interpretações segundo as quais a teoria da livre criação seria marginal ou incompatível com o sistema cartesiano. Para tanto, apresentaremos a concepção tomasiana da criação e a gradativa refutação cartesiana da mesma, donde emerge uma moderna teoria da criação, fundamento sine qua non da teoria da livre criação das verdades eternas.This article aims to explain the theory of creation found in Descartes’ Meditations, of which consistently follows the theory of the creation of the eternal truths developed in his Correspondence, between the years 1630 and 1649. Doing so, we attempt to refute interpretations according to which the theory of the creation of the eternal truths would be incompatible with the Cartesian system. To this aim, we will present the thomistic concept of creation and the gradual Cartesian refutation of it, from where emerges a modern theory of creation, basis of the theory of the creation of eternal truth

    Nanofluid as a coolant in automotive radiators

    Paper presented to the 10th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Florida, 14-16 July 2014.The present paper reports an experimental work on thermal performance of silver/water nanofluids in a radiator. Silver nanoparticles were dispersed in distilled water using the two-step method, high-pressure homogeneizer, with concentration varying from 0.1% and 0.3% in volume. The thermal conductivity and the viscosity were measured showing an enhancement up to 18% and 5%, respectively, in relation to the base fluid. An experimental facility was built for this purpose and tests have been conducted under the following conditions: inlet air temperature of 25oC, inlet hot fluid temperature of 45oC. The experimental results show similar results in the temperature difference of hot fluid for concentration of 0.3%, and nanofluid presented high heat transfer for the high velocities of the cooling air.dc201

    Theoretical Investigation On The Existence Of Inverse And Direct Magnetocaloric Effect In Perovskite Euzro 3

    We report on the magnetic and magnetocaloric effect calculations in antiferromagnetic perovskite-type EuZrO 3. The theoretical investigation was carried out using a model Hamiltonian including the exchange interactions between nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor for the antiferromagnetic ideal G-type structure (the tolerance factor for EuZrO 3 is t = 0.983, which characterizes a small deformation from an ideal cubic perovskite). The molecular field approximation and Monte Carlo simulation were considered and compared. The calculated magnetic susceptibility is in good agreement with the available experimental data. For a magnetic field change from zero to 2 T a normal magnetocaloric effect was calculated and for a magnetic field change from zero to 1 T, an inverse magnetocaloric effect was predicted to occur below T = 3.6 K. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.1098Warburg, E., (1881) Ann.     Genetic Distance Based On Ssr And Grain Yield Of Inter And Intrapopulational Maize Single Cross Hybrids

    The objective of this work was to correlate the genetic distances between the progenitors obtained by microsatellite markers with the grain yield of inter and intrapopulational maize single cross hybrids. Three S 0 populations derived from commercial single cross hybrids were used to obtain 163 hybrids (110 interpopulational and 53 intrapopulational). The two best hybrids and two worst hybrids of each the inter- and intrapopulational crosses were selected and their progenitors maintained through self-pollination of the second ear of each S 0 plant, genotyped with 47 SSRs. The Modified Roger's Distance (MRD) between each pair of S 1 inbred lines, the number of alleles and the polymorphic information content (PIC) of each primer were estimated. The genetic distances between progenitors were correlated with the grain yield of the inter- and intrapopulational hybrids. The number of obtained alleles was 186, with a mean of 3.96 alleles. The PIC varied from 0.49 to 0.80, with a mean of 0.65. The mean genetic distance between all S 1 inbred lines was 0.75, varying from 0.40 to 0.89, indicating the existence of variability between the S 1 inbred lines.     Prevalence of dementia subtypes in a developing country: a clinicopathological study

    OBJECTIVES: To assess the distribution of dementia subtypes in Brazil using a population-based clinicopathological study. METHOD: Brains from deceased individuals aged ≥50 years old were collected after the next of kin signed an informed consent form and provided information through standardized questionnaires. Post-mortem clinical diagnoses were established in consensus meetings, and only cases with moderate or severe dementia or without cognitive impairment were included in the analysis. Immunohistochemical neuropathological examinations were performed following the universally accepted guidelines. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease was made when there were at least both a moderate density of neuritic plaques (Consortium to Establish a Register for Alzheimer's disease B or C) and Braak stage III for neurofibrillary tangle distribution. For the diagnosis of vascular dementia, at least three zones or strategic areas had to be affected by infarcts, lacunae, or microinfarcts. RESULTS: From 1,291 subjects, 113 cases were classified as having moderate or severe dementia, and 972 cases were free of cognitive impairment. The neuropathological diagnoses of the dementia sub-group were Alzheimer's disease (35.4%), vascular dementia (21.2%), Alzheimer's disease plus vascular dementia (13.3%), and other causes of dementia (30.1%). Small-vessel disease, which alone was not considered sufficient for a vascular dementia diagnosis, was present in 38.9% of all of the dementia cases and in 16.8% of the group without cognitive impairment (odds ratio = 2.91; 95% confidence interval, 1.53-5.51), adjusted for age, sex, and education. CONCLUSIONS: The relatively high frequencies of vascular dementia and small-vessel disease in the dementia sub-group constitute relevant findings for public health initiatives because control of vascular risk factors could decrease the prevalence of dementia in developing countries
