The meaning of a young service attempted suicide for nurses of pre-hospital

Objective: To grasp the meaning of the attending to youth who attempted suicide for the pre-hospital nurse and analyze how that meaning can influence the treatment of these young people. Method: An exploratory and descriptive study, with qualitative approach. Research participants were nine nurses who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results: From the analysis there emerged three categories: Significance of care to young suicidal; Feelings of nurses to meet a young suicide; Influence of significance in attending a young suicide and its relation to professional conduct. Conclusion: Attending a young suicide has special meaning to the study subjects and awakens feelings such as anxiety, sadness, fear and suffering. The prehospital nurse shows itself compromised in the patient care and family, regardless of the nature of the occurrence, however, puts the fact of suicide as relevant to the care provided

O IDOSO NO MUNDO DO TRABALHO: CONFIGURAÇÕES ATUAIS

Pesquisa bibliográfica, de natureza qualitativa e descritiva, cujo objeto é o idoso no mundo do trabalho. O objetivo foi analisar os impactos psicossociais para o idoso diante de sua manutenção ou reinserção no mundo do trabalho. A busca bibliográfica deu-se de maio a agosto de 2010, nas bases de dados LILACS, SciELO, BDENF e MEDLINE. Foram encontradas nove produções científicas. A discussão das informações estruturou-se nas categorias A relação entre o mundo do trabalho e a pessoa idosa e A situação psicossocial do idoso. O fenômeno da manutenção ou reinserção do idoso no mundo do trabalho tende a se incrementar e, portanto, necessita-se de um replanejamento das políticas públicas dirigidas a este fenômeno. Verificou-se que tal temática deve ser investigada em suas múltiplas dimensões e que um novo olhar para a organização e as condições de trabalho é premente, a fim de garantir saúde e segurança ao trabalhador idoso

Proportional Assist Ventilation Improves Leg Muscle Reoxygenation After Exercise in Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction

BackgroundRespiratory muscle unloading through proportional assist ventilation (PAV) may enhance leg oxygen delivery, thereby speeding off-exercise oxygen uptake (V.⁢O2) kinetics in patients with heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFrEF).MethodsTen male patients (HFrEF = 26 ± 9%, age 50 ± 13 years, and body mass index 25 ± 3 kg m2) underwent two constant work rate tests at 80% peak of maximal cardiopulmonary exercise test to tolerance under PAV and sham ventilation. Post-exercise kinetics of V.⁢O2, vastus lateralis deoxyhemoglobin ([deoxy-Hb + Mb]) by near-infrared spectroscopy, and cardiac output (QT) by impedance cardiography were assessed.ResultsPAV prolonged exercise tolerance compared with sham (587 ± 390 s vs. 444 ± 296 s, respectively; p = 0.01). PAV significantly accelerated V.⁢O2 recovery (τ = 56 ± 22 s vs. 77 ± 42 s; p < 0.05), being associated with a faster decline in Δ[deoxy-Hb + Mb] and QT compared with sham (τ = 31 ± 19 s vs. 42 ± 22 s and 39 ± 22 s vs. 78 ± 46 s, p < 0.05). Faster off-exercise decrease in QT with PAV was related to longer exercise duration (r = −0.76; p < 0.05).ConclusionPAV accelerates the recovery of central hemodynamics and muscle oxygenation in HFrEF. These beneficial effects might prove useful to improve the tolerance to repeated exercise during cardiac rehabilitation

As propostas articulam quer discursos curatoriais (museu, bienal, exposição), como ações de mediação visando uma expansão das atividades, a que se juntam as reflexões sobre a realidade da formação de professores, nas suas diversas modalidades, em diversas realidades sociais.Propiciam-se oportunidades de ações de intervenção, concertadas ou não, entre os agentes artísticos e os educadores. Spatial Evaluation and Modeling of Dengue Seroprevalence and Vector Density in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Dengue is a major public health problem in many tropical regions of the world, including Brazil, where Aedes aegypti is the main vector. We present a household study that combines data on dengue fever seroprevalence, recent dengue infection, and vector density, in three neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during its most devastating dengue epidemic to date. This integrated entomological–serological survey showed evidence of silent transmission even during a severe epidemic. Also, past exposure to dengue virus was highly associated with age and living in areas of high movement of individuals and social/commercial activity. No association was observed between household infestation index and risk of dengue infection in these areas. Our findings are discussed in the light of current theories regarding transmission thresholds and relative role of mosquitoes and humans as vectors of dengue viruses
