Labor, Family and Gender : precarious living conditions, and unionization in household heads of conjugal families in Chile

La pregunta de este artículo es cómo las condiciones de trabajo y la participación en sindicatos afectan la vida familiar de las configuraciones conyugales/biparentales en el Chile actual. La hipótesis es: la percepción de precariedad en las condiciones de trabajo y las limitaciones a la sindicalización debilitan a la familia conyugal/biparental y los mandatos de la masculinidad dominante. El objetivo es profundizar sobre cómo los cambios en la organización del trabajo iniciados en las últimas décadas del siglo XX en Chile han puesto en jaque a la familia conyugal/biparental, precarizando las condiciones de vida de los/as trabajadores/as y de sus núcleos familiares, reduciendo su capacidad de organizarse en sindicatos para defender sus derechos. Los hallazgos confirman la hipótesis y profundizan el objetivo propuesto. Las fuentes de información son la Primera Encuesta Nacional de Empleo, Trabajo, Salud y calidad de vida de los trabajadores y trabajadoras en Chile (ENETS) y entrevista en profundidad en la Gran Minería (región de Tarapacá); el Retail (región Metropolitana del Gran Santiago), y la agrícola y forestal (región Bío-Bío)The main question in this article is how do working conditions and participation in unions at present, affect family life based on conjugal / biparental configurations in Chile. The hypothesis is that the perception of precariousness in working conditions and the restrictions to unionize, weaken the conjugal / biparental family and the mandates of the dominant masculinity. The objective is to deepen on how changes in the labor organization (started in the last decades of the XX century in Chile), have put in check the conjugal / biparental family, leaving workers and their biparental families in precarious conditions of life and decreasing their ability to organize in unions to defend their rights. The findings confirm the hypothesis and deepen the proposed objective. The sources of information are the First National Survey of Employment, Work, Health and Quality of Life of Workers (ENETS) and in-depth interview in the Great Mining (region of Tarapacá); The Retail (Metropolitan Region of Greater Santiago), and Agricultural and Forestry (region of Bío-Bío

Lo público. Un espacio en disputa

Rastrear los diferentes sentidos de lo público en la historia de la humanidad, es entrar en un terreno marcado por la polémica. Sus raíces y huellas son posibles de encontrar en la polis griega como en la res pública romana. Su fisonomía moderna está marcada, sin duda, por el pensamiento de Inmanuel Kant, quien de alguna manera delimitará el debate, que continuará en las reflexiones seminales de Jurgen Habermas sobre la esfera pública o en la crítica de Hannah Arendt a la distinción entre lo social y lo político.
