One-dimensional time-independent Schr\"odinger equation is solved for the asymmetric Hulth\'{e}n potential. Reflection and transmission coefficients and bound state solutions are obtained in terms of the hypergeometric functions. It is observed that the unitary condition is satisfied in non-relativistic region.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure

Effective-Mass Dirac Equation for Woods-Saxon Potential: Scattering, Bound States and Resonances

    Get PDF
Approximate scattering and bound state solutions of the one-dimensional effective-mass Dirac equation with the Woods-Saxon potential are obtained in terms of the hypergeometric-type functions. Transmission and reflection coefficients are calculated by using behavior of the wave functions at infinity. The same analysis is done for the constant mass case. It is also pointed out that our results are in agreement with those obtained in literature. Meanwhile, an analytic expression is obtained for the transmission resonance and observed that the expressions for bound states and resonances are equal for the energy values E=±mE=\pm m.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figure

Background: The cause of about 95% of hypertension, an important public health problem, is unknown. Intensive studies are underway to understand the physiopathology of hypertension. Irisin, a newly discovered hormone, has been reported to dilate vascular smooth muscle and lower blood pressure acutely. Aims: To investigate the effects of chronic irisin treatment on blood pressure and renal functions in a hypertension model established by nitric oxide synthase inhibition by treatment with N?-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride. Study Design: Animal experimentation. Methods: Male Sprague?Dawley rats were divided into four groups (n=8). Control and irisin groups received an intravenous saline injection, hypertension and hypertension + irisin (hypertension + irisin) groups received 1.5 mg/100 g N?-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride. N?-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (150 mg/L) was added to the drinking water of rats in groups hypertension and hypertension + irisin for three weeks. In the second week of the experiment, irisin (50 nmol/day) was given to rats in groups irisin and hypertension + irisin, and saline was administered to rats in groups control and hypertension for two weeks through subcutaneously placed osmotic minipumps. Blood pressure was measured by the tail-cuff plethysmography method. On the twenty-first day of the experiment, 24-hour urine, blood, and both kidneys of the rats were collected. Results: The hypertension group had elevated systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressure values compared with the control group, with decreased glutathione levels in tissue and serum, but an increase in serum oxidized glutathione level (p<0.05). Histopathologically, increased tubular injury, cast formation, glomerular sclerosis, and peritubular fibrosis levels were observed (p<0.05). Irisin treatment did not cause any significant change in blood pressure, renal functions, and injury scores. However, renal nitric oxide levels significantly increased, and endothelial nitric oxide synthase immunoreactivity was determined to be reduced (p<0.05). Conclusion: Treatment with chronic irisin at a physiological dose does not reduce blood pressure in an experimental model of hypertension. In different models of experimental hypertension, the effects of irisin administration at different doses and at different periods should be thoroughly investigated

Scattering of Woods-Saxon Potential in Schrodinger Equation

The scattering solutions of the one-dimensional Schrodinger equation for the Woods-Saxon potential are obtained within the position-dependent mass formalism. The wave functions, transmission and reflection coefficients are calculated in terms of Heun's function. These results are also studied for the constant mass case in detail.Comment: 14 page

The pseudospin symmetry concept is investigated by solving the Dirac equation for the exactly solvable potentials such as pseudoharmonic potential, Mie-type potential, Woods-Saxon potential and Hulthén plus ring-shaped potential with any spin-orbit coupling term κ\kappa. Nikiforov-Uvarov Method, Asymptotic Iteration Method and functional analysis method are used in the calculations. The energy eigenvalue equations of the Dirac particles are found and the corresponding radial wave functions are presented in terms of special functions. We look for the contribution of the ring-shaped potential to the energy spectra of the Dirac particles. Particular cases of the potentials are also discussed. By considering some particular cases, our results are reduced to the well-known ones presented in the literature. In addition, by taking equal mixture of scalar and vector potentials together with tensor potential, solutions of the Dirac equation are found and then the energy splitting between the two states in the pseudospin doublets is investigated. We indicate that degeneracy between members of pseudospin doublet is removed by tensor interactions. Effects of the potential parameters on the pseudospin doublet splitting are also studied. Radial nodes structure of the Dirac spinor are presented.Ph.D. - Doctoral Progra

Exact Pseudospin Symmetric Solution of the Dirac Equation for Pseudoharmonic Potential in the Presence of Tensor Potential

    No full text
Under the pseudospin symmetry, we obtain exact solution of the Dirac equation for the pseudoharmonic potential in the presence of the tensor potential with arbitrary spin-orbit coupling quantum number kappa. The energy eigenvalue equation of the Dirac particles is found and the corresponding radial wave functions are presented in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. We investigate the tensor potential dependence of the energy of the each state in the pseudospin doublet. It is shown that degeneracy between members of the pseudospin doublet is removed by tensor interaction. Furthermore, the radial node structure of the Dirac spinor is discussed

The Dirac-Yukawa problem in view of pseudospin symmetry

An approximate analytical solution of the Dirac equation for the Yukawa potential under the pseudospin symmetry condition is obtained using the asymptotic iteration method. We discover the energy eigenvalue equation and some of the numerical results are listed. Wave functions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric functions. Extra degeneracies are removed by adding a new term, A/r(2), to the Yukawa potential. The effects of tensor interaction on the two states in the pseudospin doublet are also investigated

Pseudospin and spin symmetry in Dirac-Morse problem with a tensor potential

    No full text
Under the conditions of the pseudospin and spin symmetry, approximate analytical solutions of the Dirac-Morse problem with Coulomb-like tensor potential are presented. The energy eigenvalue equations are found and corresponding radial wave functions are obtained in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. The energy eigenvalues are calculated numerically in the absence and presence of the tensor potential. We also investigate the contribution of the potential parameters to the energy splitting of the pseudospin and spin doublets

Energy in Reboucas Tiomno Korotkii Obukhov and Godel type Space times in Bergmann Thomson s Formulations

We calculate the total energy (the matter plus fields) of the universe considering Bergmann- Thomson's energy-momentum formulation in both Einstein's theory of general relativity and tele-parallel gravity on two different space-times; namely Reboucas-Tiomno-Korotkii-Obukhov and the G¨odel-type metrics. We also compute some kinematical quantities for these space-times and nd that these space-times have shear-free expansion and non-vanishing four-acceleration and vorticity. Different approximations of the Bergmann-Thomson energy momentum formulation in these different gravitation theories give the same energy density and agree with each other. The results advocate the importance of energy-momentum definitions

Scattering of a spinless particle by an asymmetric Hulthen potential within the effective mass formalism

    Get PDF
Effective mass Klein-Gordon equation for the asymmetric Hulthen potential is solved in terms of hypergeometric functions. Results are obtained for the scattering and bound states with the position dependent mass and constant mass, as a special case. In both cases, we derive a condition for the existence of transmission resonance (T = 1). We also study how the transmission resonance depends on the particle energy and the shape of the external potential. (C) 2012 American Institute of Physics. [http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/1.4758926
