Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest wizerunkom środkowoeuropejskich externae gentes w źródłach pisanych i sztuce rzymskiej. Analiza została podzielona na trzy zasadnicze części. W pierwszej z nich nakreślone zostały najważniejsze wydarzenia historyczne, podczas których dochodziło do kontaktów Rzymian z ludami zamieszkującymi tereny Barbaricum. Druga część pracy poświęcona została obecności mieszkańców Galii, Germanii i Dacji w źródłach historycznych. The purpose of this study was to investigate the representations of Central European externae gentes both in written sources and Roman art. The thesis contains three main chapters. The first one describes the most important historical events during which there were direct contacts between Romans and barbarians. Second part of the work was devoted to the presence of the inhabitants of Gaul, Germania and Dacia in historical sources. This chapter was mainly focused on the description of the appearance and customs of the barbaric peoples. The last part concerns images of barbarians in Roman art. The results of the analysis revealed that the representations of barbaric peoples were present during the every period of existence of the Roman Empire and they took on during this time almost unchanged forms

This report is focused on ritual of human sacrifice in Celtic societies. This custom has been described on the basis of ancient sources and archaeological finds. Chronological range adopted for the work includes the time from the end of sixth century B.C. to the end of the antiquity. The initial part of the paper is dedicated to the human sacrifices in the ancient world. In the next part, the subject of analysis are ancient sources, like Tacitus, Lucan, Strabo or Caesar. In the third part, the basis of considerations are archeological finds, like human remains from Celtic sanctuaries in Gaul. Bog bodies occupies a unique position among that type of sources, so selected examples of them are discussed in more detail. The last part of this paper concerns the worship of severed human heads. That cult is one of the faces of Celtic human sacrifice

IntroductionAHSCT is the treatment of choice for newly diagnosed patients with transplant-eligible multiple myeloma (MM). However, considerable variability in response to autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) results in only 50% of patients achieving complete response (CR) after AHSCT, which is directly associated with improved progression-free and overall survival (OS). In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential predictive role of selected serum miRNAs in MM patients who underwent AHSCT.Patients and methodsSerum expression level of 6 miRNAs: miR-221-3p, miR-15b-5p, miR-223-3p, miR-320c, miR-361-3p, and miR-150-5p was evaluated in 51 patients who underwent AHSCT. Blood samples were collected at two time points: before conditioning chemotherapy (T1) and fourteen days after transplant (+14) (T2).ResultsAll selected miRNAs significantly changed their expression level across the procedure- two were up-regulated after AHSCT: hsa-miR-320c (FC 1.42, pConclusionSerum expression of has-miR-223-3p is a predictor of CR and prolonged OS in MM patients undergoing AHSCT.</p
