Proposed method of combining continuum mechanics with Einstein Field Equations

The article proposes an amendment to the relativistic continuum mechanics which introduces the relationship between density tensors and the curvature of spacetime. The resulting formulation of a symmetric stress-energy tensor for a system with an electromagnetic field, leads to the solution of Einstein Field Equations indicating a relationship between the electromagnetic field tensor and the metric tensor. In this EFE solution, the cosmological constant is related to the invariant of the electromagnetic field tensor, and additional pulls appear, dependent on the vacuum energy contained in the system. In flat Minkowski spacetime, the vanishing four-divergence of the proposed stress-energy tensor expresses relativistic Cauchy's momentum equation, leading to the emergence of force densities which can be developed and parameterized to obtain known interactions. Transformation equations were also obtained between spacetime with fields and forces, and a curved spacetime reproducing the motion resulting from the fields under consideration, which allows for the extension of the solution with new fields.Comment: Published in International Journal of Modern Physics D, 202

This study uses the case of Poland to explore the economic value of the Spanish language. As the communities of Spanish and Polish speaking people in each country are very similar, the problems of macro approaches are analysed. The paper takes into account the differences between the demand of both languages in the home countries as well as in the rest of the world, and presents the main data on the rol of both countries in the internationalization of university studies, and specially in the Erasmus program. The main conclusion is that important benefits draw on the belonging to a huge community of more than 400 million of Spanish speaking people and the presence of an important demand to learn the language.Valor económico del español, Enseñanza de español para extranjeros, Enseñanza de polaco para extranjeros, Internacionalización de enseñanza universitaria.

The aim of this work was preparation and characterization of nanoemulsions containing Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylic/Capric/Linoleic Triglyceride and Caprylic/Capric/Succinic Triglyceride as the oil phase. Stable emulsion system was obtained by using Polisorbate 40 as emulsifier and n-buthanol as cosurfactant. The formulations were prepared by phase inversion composition method (PIC), one of the low energy emulsification method, by stepwise water addition to the mixture of oil and surfactant, at room temperature(25oC).The mixture was stirred by using a magnetic stirrer. The type of the emulsions was confirmed by conductivity measurement. The particles size distribution was analyzed by Dynamic Light Scattering measurement technique using Zetasizer Nano ZS (Malvern Instruments, UK). Rheological studies of the systems were carried out using Brookfield Rheometer Model -R/SPlus. The obtained results showed that properties of the emulsions depend on kind of the oil phase. It was observed that the increase of oil phase polarity causes the increase of the particle size of internal phase

Jej szczególna rola w porównaniu do innych organizacji międzynarodowych o oddziaływaniu globalnym wynika z kompleksowego mandatu ONZ zapisanego w Karcie Narodów Zjednoczonych."(...

Performance of GAN-based augmentation for deep learning COVID-19 image classification

The biggest challenge in the application of deep learning to the medical domain is the availability of training data. Data augmentation is a typical methodology used in machine learning when confronted with a limited data set. In a classical approach image transformations i.e. rotations, cropping and brightness changes are used. In this work, a StyleGAN2-ADA model of Generative Adversarial Networks is trained on the limited COVID-19 chest X-ray image set. After assessing the quality of generated images they are used to increase the training data set improving its balance between classes. We consider the multi-class classification problem of chest X-ray images including the COVID-19 positive class that hasn't been yet thoroughly explored in the literature. Results of transfer learning-based classification of COVID-19 chest X-ray images are presented. The performance of several deep convolutional neural network models is compared. The impact on the detection performance of classical image augmentations i.e. rotations, cropping, and brightness changes are studied. Furthermore, classical image augmentation is compared with GAN-based augmentation. The most accurate model is an EfficientNet-B0 with an accuracy of 90.2 percent, trained on a dataset with a simple class balancing. The GAN augmentation approach is found to be subpar to classical methods for the considered dataset.Comment: To be published in prceedings of WMLQ2022 International Workshop on Machine Learning and Quantum Computing Applications in Medicine and Physic

Effects of Yoga on Mindfulness in Pediatric Patients with Oncology Diagnoses through Guardian Perspectives: A Research Protocol

Abstract: Background: Yoga practice is commonly utilized by physical therapists in order to promote physical and mental health. In populations with a poorer prognosis, mindfulness and overall well-being becomes increasingly important. In particular, the pediatric cancer population requires an intervention that keeps these emotional needs in mind. Because children are physically and mentally developing throughout their oncology treatments, it is crucial that a comprehensive psychosocial treatment plan is initiated. Yoga can fill this need as it has elements that influence behavior and physical development. Objective: The aim of this protocol paper is to determine all necessary procedures for future implementation at an institution with a pre-establish yoga program. We anticipate that by analyzing the pre and post intervention PROMIS Parent Proxies, we will discover evidence of a correlation between yoga and a decrease in negative behaviors. Participants: Participants are eligible for this study if they are the guardian(s) of a child with an oncologic diagnosis between the ages of 5-17. Inclusion criteria comprises guardians of children who are currently undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis. Guardians will be excluded from this study if they are not cognitively fit to answer questions regarding their child’s program, if their child is not physically or cognitively able to participate in the yoga program, if their child is in remission and not actively receiving treatment, and if their child is already participating in the pre-existing yoga program. Methods: In order to assess the relationship between yoga and its potential influence on a child’s behavior, we are proposing a study that would investigate how yoga would affect the behavior in children with cancer diagnoses. In order to accomplish this, researchers will analyze the guardian’s assessment of their child through the use of the PROMIS Parent Proxy Item Bank. Participants in this study will be recruited through a convenience sampling method and followed over the course of 10 yoga sessions. Parents will complete the PROMIS survey before and following the completion their yoga program. An institution must have a pre-established yoga program in order to follow this protocol. The institution may also need to seek IRB approval prior to initiation. Flyers will be placed in a waiting room of the facility to recruit participants. The guardians will express interest to a facility liaison who will give the guardians an information packet including: a letter to the guardian, informed consent form, and survey. Clinical Relevance: This study would be important clinically because it would allow for researchers to further explore the connection between mind and body wellness in an at-risk population. By assessing how children with oncologic diagnosis handle a yoga program, we can hopefully continue to implement it as an intervention and therefore increase mental health and wellbeing.https://digitalcommons.misericordia.edu/research_posters2020/1073/thumbnail.jp
