    Concerning CP violation in 331 models

    We consider the implementation of CP violation in the context of 331 models. In particular we treat a model where only three scalar triplets are needed in order to give all fermions a mass while keeping neutrino massless.     Quantum interference oscillations of the superparamagnetic blocking in an Fe8 molecular nanomagnet

    We show that the dynamic magnetic susceptibility and the superparamagnetic blocking temperature of an Fe8 single molecule magnet oscillate as a function of the magnetic field Hx applied along its hard magnetic axis. These oscillations are associated with quantum interferences, tuned by Hx, between different spin tunneling paths linking two excited magnetic states. The oscillation period is determined by the quantum mixing between the ground S=10 and excited multiplets. These experiments enable us to quantify such mixing. We find that the weight of excited multiplets in the magnetic ground state of Fe8 amounts to approximately 11.6%.Comment: Accepted in Phys. Rev. Let

    Soft CP violation in K-meson systems

    We consider a model with soft CP violation which accommodate the CP violation in the neutral kaons even if we assume that the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing matrix is real and the sources of CP violation are three complex vacuum expectation values and a trilinear coupling in the scalar potential. We show that for some reasonable values of the masses and other parameters the model allows to explain all the observed CP violation processes in the K0K^0-Kˉ0\bar{K}^0 system.Comment: 19 pages, RevTeX 4.     Sulphur abundance determinations in star-forming regions-I: Ionization Correction Factor

    In the present work we used a grid of photoionization models combined with stellar population synthesis models to derive reliable Ionization Correction Factors (ICFs) for the sulphur in star-forming regions. These models cover a large range of nebular parameters and yielding ionic abundances in consonance with those derived through optical and infrared observational data of star-forming regions. From our theoretical ICFs, we suggested an {\alpha} value of 3.27 in the classical Stasinska formulae. We compared the total sulphur abundance in the gas phase of a large sample of objects by using our Theoretical ICF and other approaches. In average, the differences between the determinations via the use of the different ICFs considered are similar to the uncertainties in the S/H estimations. Nevertheless, we noted that for some objects it could reach up to about 0.3 dex for the low metallicity regime. Despite of the large scatter of the points, we found a trend of S/O ratio to decrease with the metallicity, independently of the ICF used to compute the sulphur total abundance.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS, 21 pages, 8 figures, 5 table

In this article we will show how the random combination of two different unbiased CTRWs can give raise to a process with clear drift, if one of them is a CTRW with memory. If one identifies the other one as noise, the effect can be thought as a kind of stochastic resonance.     Dynamics of oscillating magnetized relativistic tori around a Schwarzschild black hole

    We present a comprehensive numerical study of the dynamics of magnetized relativistic axisymmetric tori orbiting in the background spacetime of a Schwarzschild black hole. The tori are modeled as having a purely toroidal magnetic field and a constant distribution of the specific angular momentum. Following previous investigations of tori in a purely hydrodynamical context, the dynamics of these objects has been studied upon the introduction of a perturbation which, for the values of the magnetic field considered here, triggers quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) lasting tens of orbital periods. As in the hydrodynamical case, the spectral distribution of the eigenfrequencies shows the presence of a fundamental p-mode and of overtones in a harmonic ratio: 2 : 3 : .... We comment on the implications of these results on the phenomenology observed for the QPOs in low-mass X-ray binaries containing a black hole candidate
