Sg. Pergam, Kemaman and Kg. Sg. Berua, Hulu Terengganu.

    Get PDF
Often times, in academia world, academics report to superiors who are not from similar backgrounds and do not share the same standards, points of view or needs. Hence, to be effective, any particular academic staff must understand that upward power is partly based on the ability and willingness to use influence tactics. The aim of this paper is to provide an in-depth analysis of the relationship between upward influence strategies and employees’ career success. All three dimensions of upward influence strategies i.e. soft, hard and rational tactics have different effects towards career progression due to the nature of the tactics. The paper argues that career advancement, assuming that all other factors are equal, is a very subjective matter which lies upon three main influencing factors of ingratiation, assertiveness and reasoning

The integrity of the civil servants needs to be greatly improved in order to turn Malaysian Vision 2020 into a reality. This objective of this research was to determine the level of awareness, knowledge and understanding on noble values particularly integrity among selected civil servants in selected State Government agencies in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. The respondents were selected based on a purposive sampling technique. The research used a quantitative approach where self-administered structured questions were distributed. Descriptive and inference analysis were carried out to meet the research objectives outlined. The research findings showed that there were civil servants groups who were unclear and uncertain about the meaning of integrity in public sector. Those with shorter length of services were found to be less knowledgeable on the rule and procedure which led to them being unsure about integrity. Length of service was found to be inversely related to the perception on the knowledge of integrity, corruption and quality of service delivery. In this research, respondents might or might have not disclosed the actual truth when answering questions. Most heads of departments might have not wanted to disclose actual work realities of their offices. They, in particular, did not want to wash their dirty linen in public. For that reason, future research may improve on such limitation

Multi Hop Transmission in IEEE 802.11 Low Rate Ad Hoc Network Using ARP-Route

    Get PDF
Ad hoc networks are becoming more important in the modern complex environment. The ad hoc network can be used to instantly connect to the local or remote networks such as the Internet without the need of pre-existing infrastructure or centralized administration. The users of the network together will establish the infrastructure. The disadvantage of wireless communication is that it has limited range of radio transmission. Due to this, multiple network ‘hops’ are needed for one device to exchange data with another device across the network. In an ad hoc network, these devices will not only operate as a host but also as a router to forward the packets. There are varieties of routing protocols targeted for this environment that have been proposed and developed. However, most of them suffer from high overhead data traffic. The main purpose of this project is to implement the ad hoc network with the existing network protocol that had already been used in network environment which is the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). ARP was designed to announce or find MAC addresses. The novelty of this study is that we have extended the usage of the ARP protocol to act as routing protocol in wireless ad hoc network. The ARP route provides two new operation types, ARP Forward Request and ARP Forward Reply to allow the multihop transmission using intermediate nodes to forward the request and reply. These two operation types only used the current operation codes which are ‘0x0001’ for request and ‘0x0002’ for reply. This work on the routing protocol creates a new operation code for the ARP forwarding scheme which is ‘0x000c’ for forwarding. We have successfully managed to create a multi hop transmission in an ad hoc network by using the current existing operation code for the ARP forwarding. The work scope focus only on proving that the method can be applied hence it is not necessarily to prove the effectiveness of this proposed method yet. Therefore, the outcome of the study shows that the data can be sent through multi hop transmission until it reaches the destination. The 802.11b test-bed has been configured and the ARP routing protocol has been implemented for multi hop transmission. The experiment in the open space provides the comparison of environment with obstacles and without obstacles. We manage to get more than 50% of packet receive at a place with no obstacles and more than 45% in a place with obstacles. The proof of method is shown by using several graphs namely in terms of time, packet loss and also throughput

Introduction: Childhood anxiety is one of the common mental health problems in children. Untreated childhood anxiety will lead to a higher risk of developing mental health problems in adulthood. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between parental emotional styles and family values to anxiety level among primary school children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a selected primary school in Kelantan, Malaysia. A set of questionnaires consisted of the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale–Parents’ Report (RCADS-P 25), the Parental Emotional Style Questionnaire (PESQ), and the Asian Family Characteristics Scale (AFCS) was used for assessing anxiety, parental emotional styles, and family values, respectively. Data were collected via an online survey using Google Form, and were analysed using Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) to determine the factors associated with childhood anxiety. The significance value was set at p < 0.05. Results: A total of 150 parents of primary school children from the selected school was involved in this study. The majority of respondents were females (82.0%), married (94.7%), hold a degree (66.7%), and were working in the government sector (60.0%). Most of the respondents’ child were twelve years old (20.7%) and males (62%). Based on the MLR, emotional dismissing parental style (p = 0.025) and family values (p = 0.016) were significantly associated with anxiety in these children. Conclusion: Emotional dismissing parental style and family values were significant predictors of anxiety in primary school children. Future intervention research on childhood anxiety is needed
