This researchobletive is to use Green plantain and orito as main ingredients to develop and evaluate the organoleptic characteristics of pastry recipes to publicize more options within Ecuadorian cuisine. The developed pastry recipes were: cookies, shortcrust, cake, donuts and pies, which were baked with different (mixing, kneading, sifting) pastry and temperatures (180° C) techniques required according to each preparation and most used cooking methods in this cuisine area. Once the bromatological and microbiological analysis were made, the product with the highest acceptability was the pies, it was demonstrated that this product is unfit for human consumption because it contains protein, fiber, fat, ash and it is within normal parameters established by the World Health Organization, besides that pies had 62,5 % acceptability in terms of taste, 68,75 % in texture, 50 % in smell and 56,25 % in terms of color. With this study pastry recipes were created with green plantain and orito contributing as variety in Ecuadorian cuisine and it is nutritious food in the daily diet. It is recommended to the bakers to store the products in covered containers to prevent texture changes

The Impact of Additive Manufacturing on Supply Chain Management from a System Dynamics Model-Scenario: Traditional, Centralized, and Distributed Supply Chain

[EN] In order to describe the impact that the appropriation of additive manufacturing (AM) has on the supply chain (SC), a validated system dynamics model representing vectorially multiple products and multiple demands in different periods was used as a basis to apply to a case study of medical implant manufacturing, configuring three chain scenarios: 1. traditional supply chain with subtractive manufacturing, 2. centralized supply chain with additive manufacturing, and 3. decentralized supply chain with additive manufacturing. It was possible to notice that the production time is longer in additive manufacturing compared to traditional manufacturing and the cycle time and total demand closure were lower in traditional manufacturing. In addition, it was observed that the AM performance is significantly better in conditions of lower demand, which can be attributed to the characteristics of customization and small batches that this type of production approach implies.Nuñez Rodriguez, J.; Andrade Sosa, HH.; Villarreal-Archila, SM.; Ortiz Bas, Á. Myofibroblasts (MF) and angiogenesis are important factors in the development and expansion of cystic lesions, where these cells secrete growth factors and proteases, stimulating angiogenesis, matrix deposition and cell migration, affecting the growth of these periapicopathies. The present study aimed to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of CD34 and ?-SMA in radicular cysts (RC) and residual radicular cysts (RRC), with the purpose of contributing to a better understanding of the expansion and progression of these periapical lesions. The present study os a descriptive, quantitative and comparative analysis of positive CD34 and ?-SMA immunohistochemical expressions in 30 RC and 30 RRC specimens. ?-SMA expression was evaluated in the fibrous capsule of the lesions, at 100x magnification below the epithelial lining. A total of 10 higher immunostaining fields were selected and subsequently, positive cells were quantified at 400x magnification, averaged per field. Regarding the angiogenic index, immuno-labeled microvessel counts for the anti-CD34 antibody were performed in 10 fields at 200x magnification. Statistically significant differences regarding ?-SMA immunostaining were observed (p = 0.035), as well as a correlation between ?-SMA versus CD34 (p = 0.004) in RRC. However, the angiogenic index obtained by immunostaining for CD34 indicated no statistical difference between lesions. Intense inflammatory infiltrates were predominant in RC, while mild and moderate degrees were more commonly observed in RRC (p <0.001). Intense inflammatory infiltrates were also more often noted in larger RRC (p = 0.041). Inflammatory infiltrates showed no significant correlation with ?-SMA and CD34 immunostaining. The results indicate that the significant correlation found between the presence of MF and the angiogenic index are related to the repair process in RRC

Th17 Responses Are Not Induced in Dextran Sodium Sulfate Model of Acute Colitis

Dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) is a widely used chemical model for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is thought that imbalances in the T helper (Th) cell subsets contribute to IBD. Recent studies suggest that the acute DSS-colitis model is polarized toward a Th1/Th17 profile based on RT-PCR analysis of colonic tissues. In the current study we determined whether colonic Th cells from DSS-colitis mice were skewed toward the Th17 profile. Mice were treated with 5% DSS for 7 days and colonic T cells isolated and examined for production of IFN-γ (Th1 cell), IL-4 (Th2 cell) and IL-17 (Th17 cell) by intracellular flow cytometry. We found that the percentage of colonic Th17 cells were similar to non-treated controls but the percentage of Th1 cells were elevated in DSS-colitis mice. These results suggest that in the acute DSS-colitis model the colonic Th cells exhibit a Th1 profile and not a Th17 profile
