The purpose of this paper is to present the highest, third level of involvement of financial institutions in Ecology. Paper looks into sustainable investing through private banking sector. Financial institutions analyzed in this paper were chosen due to exquisite approach to the environment protection. IMPLEMENTATION OF ALTERNATIVE INDEX WEIGHTING TO WARSAW STOCK EXCHANGE

Exchange Traded Funds are the fastest growing segment of investment management business. Over last eleven years ETF’s AUM grew over 2,000% This paper explores growing popularity of this investment vehicle and getting to the genesis of index tracking funds and to the roots of indexing, bares shortcomings of most common weighting scheme – capitalization weighting. Those flaws caused the rise of quantitative investing. The author reviews the literature in search of the most relevant Smart Beta definition and the reasons why this new investment concept is blooming nowadays. The substance of this paper is presentation of most popular alternative weighting schemes and exploration of their pros and cons by implementing those solutions to polish index WIG20. The impact of alternative weighting on performance of the index and its features has been synthesized and evaluated. In the result of this analyses and comparison cap-weighted WIG20 turned out to be the less effective weighting scheme

LOW COST RETIREMENT SOLUTIONS BASED ON ROBO-ADVISORS AND EXCHANGE TRADED FUNDS

This paper briefly analyzes American retirement system and bares its shortcomings. The post crisis economic reality, low savings rates and misguided policy changes, requires searches for new retirement solutions. Especially it’s worth to have a second look at costs of traditional retirement products. Analysis of mutual funds expense ratios and financial advisors fees proofs their significant impact on future retirement. New products based on ETFs and managed by robo advisors are the low cost alternative. The substance of this paper is cost comparison of traditional retirement products with innovative FinTech solutions. In a result of this analysis robo advisors and ETFs turned out to be definitely more cost effective, what makes investing more accessible and substantially increases future retirement

Innovation on physical education lessons as a generator of physical activity

Aktywność fizyczna jest nieodłącznym elementem życia człowieka Bez ruchu niemożliwe byłoby zarówno funkcjonowanie, jak i rozwój ludzkości. Ruch gwarantuje również prawdziwy i najbardziej korzystny wypoczynek. W czasach, w których tak popularne stały się gry komputerowe i najróżniejsze portale społecznościowe, coraz trudniej zachęcić dzieci i młodzież do uprawiania aktywności fizycznej. Dlatego tak ważne jest, aby lekcje wychowania fizycznego były atrakcyjne. Zajęcia ruchowe mogą stać się interesujące między innymi dzięki wprowadzaniu innowacyjności i to w postaci nowoczesnych rozwiązań organizacyjnych, jak i nowych dyscyplin sportowych.Celem pracy było wykazanie w jakim zakresie i jak często nauczyciele wychowania fizycznego stosują  metody innowacyjne podczas zajęć, skąd czerpią pomysły na nie, jakie napotykają problemy podczas pracy tymi metodami, a także jakie korzyści one przynoszą. Badaniami zostało objętych 97 nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego. Badania prowadzone były na terenie województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego na przełomie roku szkolnego 2015/2016. Dla lepszego poznania problemu wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego. Arkusze składały się z pytań zamkniętych oraz półotwartych. Badanie było całkowicie anonimowe co pozwoliło respondentom na swobodę odpowiedzi. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, iż ciekawe, innowacyjne prowadzenie zajęć wpływa na większą obecność na lekcjach uczniów oraz na zaangażowanie ucznia w lekcje wychowania fizycznego

Methodological implications of the influence of Zhiyi’s meditation manuals on the development of Chan Buddhism

The paper elaborates on the meaning of the meditation techniques described by Zhiyi in the field of Chan Buddhist studies. In order to show the importance of considering these techniques in the study of Chan Buddhism, in the first part of the paper the author discusses the historical connections between the Tiantai and Chan schools, presenting the influence of Tiantai on the development of Chan Buddhism. In the second part the author presents a contextual analysis of the main meditation practice of the Caodong school, that is silent illumination technique, based on the technique described by Zhiyi and called six wondrous dharma gates. The aim of the analysis is the show the usefulness of considering Zhiyi’s works in Chan studies methodology. This usefulness results from the ability to clarify the obscure, metaphor-laden, poetical sentences typical of Chan, based on Zhiyi’s precise language

The sutras as a source of verification of a direct insight within the tradition of chan budhism

The article discusses the connection between Chan Buddhism and the study of the Sutras and Śastras. The first part shows the prevalent view according to which Chan negates the value of texts, focusing only on the direct experience. The author then shows the historical dependence of this view and its lack of compatibility with many Chan Buddhist schools. In the later part, the author discusses the Wenzi Chan current and, based on its postulates, carries out an analysis of the texts belonging to the early Chan tradition. This aims to prove that, contrary to the view presented at the beginning of the article, one can demonstrate the existence of a highly influential movement in which the Sutras are valued equally to the direct insight

Effect of Substrate Roughness on Oxidation Resistance of an Aluminized Ni-Base Superalloy

In the present work, it is shown that the surface preparation method used on two Ni-based superalloys prior to aluminizing chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is one of the most important factors determining the oxidation resistance of aluminized Ni-based superalloys. It was found that grit blasting the substrate surface negatively affects the oxidation resistance of the aluminized coatings. For grit blasted and aluminized IN 625, a thicker outer NiAl coating was formed compared to that of IN 738. In contrast, no effect on NiAl coating thickness was found for grit blasted and aluminized IN 738. However, a thicker interdiffusion zone (IDZ) was observed. It was shown that the systems with grit-blasted surfaces reveal worse oxidation resistance during thermal shock tests, namely, a higher mass loss was observed for both grit blasted and aluminized alloys, as compared to ground and aluminized alloys. A possible reason for this effect of remaining alumina particles originating from surface grit blasting on the diffusion processes and stress distribution at the coating/substrate is proposed.Comment: Accepted manuscript Metals 201
