Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Homeostasis and Systemic Diseases: Hypothesis, Evidences, and Therapeutic Opportunities
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are present in all organs and tissues, playing a well-known
function in tissue regeneration. However, there is also evidence indicating a broader role of MSCs in
tissue homeostasis. In vivo studies have shown MSC paracrine mechanisms displaying proliferative,
immunoregulatory, anti-oxidative, or angiogenic activity. In addition, recent studies also demonstrate
that depletion and/or dysfunction of MSCs are associated with several systemic diseases, such as
lupus, diabetes, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as with aging and frailty syndrome.
In this review, we hypothesize about the role of MSCs as keepers of tissue homeostasis as well as
modulators in a variety of inflammatory and degenerative systemic diseases. This scenario opens the
possibility for the use of secretome-derived products from MSCs as new therapeutic agents in order
to restore tissue homeostasis, instead of the classical paradigm “one disease, one drug”.This study was supported by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (PI17/02236) to F.J.V., and by Fundación para la Investigación en Células Madre Uterinas (FICEMU) to F.J.V and R.P.-F.S

The general objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between breakfast intake and school performance in one hundred and three children of the primary level of a state educational center located in the district of San Martín de Porres in Lima, Peru; A Google forms survey was applied to parents where the frequency of breakfast consumption, the food groups consumed at breakfast and a reminder from Monday to Friday were evaluated, the data collected was tabulated in Excel and SPSS to proceed with the relationship between these variables.
Regarding the relationship between the quality of breakfast and school performance, it was found that 20.4% consume a breakfast of insufficient quality, 60.7% consume a breakfast of improved quality and finally 12.6% consume a breakfast of good quality. The results indicate that the consumption of a good quality breakfast is important since skipping this meal time is related to inefficient academic performance
Endometriosis: A Comprehensive Analysis of the Pathophysiology, Treatment, and Nutritional Aspects, and Its Repercussions on the Quality of Life of Patients
Endometriosis is a chronic proinflammatory pathology characterized by the growth of tissue similar to the endometrium outside the uterus, affecting approximately 5 to 15% of women worldwide. Suffering from endometriosis entails a complex pathophysiological process, significantly impacting the quality of life and reproductive function of affected women; therefore, it must be addressed in a personalized and comprehensive manner, as its management requires a multidisciplinary approach. This article aims to conduct a comprehensive literature review of endometriosis, not only as a pathophysiological condition but also as a significant factor impacting the social, nutritional, and mental well-being of those who experience it. Emphasis is placed on the importance of understanding and assessing the impact of the pathology to provide a better and more comprehensive approach, integrating various alternatives and strategic treatments for the factors involved in its development. The aim is to provide a complete overview of endometriosis, from its pathophysiology to its impact on the quality of life of patients, as well as a review of current treatment options, both pharmacological and alternative, in order to broaden the perspective on the pathology to improve the care of patients with this disease
