The Generalized Spectral Kurtosis Estimator
Due to its conceptual simplicity and its proven effectiveness in real-time
detection and removal of radio frequency interference (RFI) from radio
astronomy data, the Spectral Kurtosis (SK) estimator is likely to become a
standard tool of a new generation of radio telescopes. However, the SK
estimator in its original form must be developed from instantaneous power
spectral density (PSD) estimates, and hence cannot be employed as an RFI
excision tool downstream of the data pipeline in existing instruments where any
time averaging is performed. In this letter, we develop a generalized estimator
with wider applicability for both instantaneous and averaged spectral data,
which extends its practical use to a much larger pool of radio instruments.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, MNRAS Letters accepte
Perbedaan Tingkat Kecemasan Menghadapi Menarche Sebelum Dan Sesudah Diberikan Pendidikan Kesehatan Pada Siswi Kelas Vii Di Smp Negeri 46 Palembang
Background : Menarche is first menstruation experienced by teenagers aged 10- 16 and occurs in the mid period toward puberty phase. At this age, it is necessary for the teenagers to gain health education about Menarche so that the teenagers especially students of SMP Negeri 46 Palembang have better understanding dealing with it from preparation to caree decrease the anxiety level in facing it.
Objective : This research aimed to investigate the differences between anxiety in facing menarche before and after health education provision at seventh graders of SMP Negeri 46 Palembang.
Method : This research used quantitative approach namely pre-experimental particularly one group posttest design. 40 samples were selected by applying total sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon Test.
Results : The research result shows that p value 0.014 <0.05. It implied that there were the differences between the anxiety levels in facing menarche before and after health education provision at seventh graders of SMP Negeri 46 Palembang. Conclusion : Based on the research result, it is concluded that the anxiety levels after health education provision may decrease

Admixture Correction in the Outgroup-f3 Statistic
Genetic inheritance can be studied within a purely genetic scope. However, this eliminates part of the picture. The field of genetics is often thought of as a natural science with little in common with fields of social science. However, in human genetics and the genetics of the organisms which humans impact, the role of cultural and societal forces cannot be ignored. For instance, lactase is an enzyme used to digest lactose in milk. As such, it is an enzyme whose activity reduces significantly after weaning. Nonetheless, as humans have begun to ingest more dairy products into adulthood, lactase persistence has evolved to enable humans to digest these dairy products.
My research involves mathematically representing the genetic similarity of two populations accurately via the f3 statistic. The outgroup-f3 statistic is useful in understanding a population’s genetic history and how genetically related two populations are. It shows how close two populations are compared to a third population that is equally distant genetically from the first two. However, if two populations share a recent genetic interaction with another population, the outgroup-f3 statistic could show those two populations as being closer together than they truly are. This genetic interaction of two or more previously isolated populations interbreeding is referred to as admixture. Admixture skews, or even inhibits, an understanding of those populations’ genetic histories.
To avoid this problem, I have attempted to devise a modified version of the outgroup-f3 statistic to ensure an accurate representation of genetic relatedness. For my project, artificial admixture was introduced in six unadmixed human populations. Depending on the relationship between increased contamination and the f3 statistic, we proposed and adjusted solutions for a corrected f3 accordingly.
I tested my proposed corrections by applying it to populations that contain individuals with and without recent histories of genetic admixture. After correcting for the proportion of admixture in the population, I compared this corrected outgroup-f3 statistic to the outgroup-f3 value calculated for the original unadmixed population. The goal of this work is to have a corrected statistic that one can apply to two populations, independent of admixture proportions. Ultimately, this will help us to better understand the evolutionary histories of populations. Moreover, a corrected statistic will aid other researchers as they analyse demographic histories further in the past.MathematicsAnthropolog
Determining gamma using B->D^**K
We propose the use of B -->D^**K decay modes for a theoretically clean
determination of the weak phase gamma. The self tagging decays of the neutral
D^** mesons, makes a measurement of the b --> u\bar{c}s amplitude feasible.
This overcomes the problem with the Gronau-London-Wyler proposal. Even an upper
limit on the branching ratio for B^- -->bar{D}^{**0}K^- will place an
assumption free, lower bound on gamma.Comment: 7 pages, LaTex, 1 figure. Minor changes and some references adde
A Relationship Between Problem Solving Ability and Students' Mathematical Thinking
This research have a purpose to know is there an influence of problem solving abilty to students mathematical thinking, and to know how strong problem solving ability affect students mathematical thinking. This research used descriptive quantitative method, which a population is all of students that taking discrete mathematics courses both in department of Information Systems and department of mathematics education. Based on the results of data analysis showed that there are an influence of problem solving ability to students mathematical thinking either at department of mathematics education or at department of information systems. In this study, it was found that the influence of problem solving ability to students mathematical thinking which take place at mathematics education department is stonger than at information system department. This is because, at mathematics education department, problem-solving activities more often performed in courses than at department of information system. Almost 75% of existing courses in department of mathematics education involve problem solving to the objective of courses, meanwhile, in the department of information systems, there are only 10% of these courses. As a result, mathematics education department student's are better trained in problem solving than information system department students. So, to improve students' mathematical thinking, its would be better, at fisrtly enhance the problem solving ability
HUMOR IN JALAN PINGGIR CRITICISM COLUMN IN SILATURAHIM RUBRIC SUARA MUHAMMADIYAH MAGAZINE (A PRAGMATIC STUDY)
In human life, human beings will not be separated from problems, any time man strives to get trough the problem, ranging from minor problems in life, to the tragedy that changed someone’s life, this thesis tells about a character named Andrew Laeddis is living in his fantasy after a tragedy happens in his life and change everything
The purpose of this thesis is to describe how the tragedy changed the attitude and character Laeddis until he create a new identity for himself , and analyzing the psychological disorder caused by bad memories that happen in the past of his life.
In analyzing the psychological disorder that happened to Andrew Laeddis, author tried to apply a Sigmund Ferud psychoanalytic theory with using a library research methods, that is done by reading books, articles, or any written and visual documents that related to the topic.
The result show that Laeddis suffer from psychological disorder caused by anxiety due to the tragic memory of his past, wich is raised a new personality to relive anxiet
