A Study to Assess Career Satisfaction among Dental Practitioners in Kanpur City, U.P., India
BACKGROUND: For almost every health worker, job satisfaction is an important determinant for motivation, retention and performance, and all of these are primarily important to improve the functioning mechanism of health systems in countries of low- and middle income categories.
AIM: This study was conducted to estimate the level of job satisfaction among registered practicing clinical dentists in Kanpur city, U.P., India
MATERIALS & METHOD: A cross sectional study was conducted among 204 practicing registered dentists. A questionnaire was distributed manually to the participating dentists for measuring dimensions of job satisfaction. A 5 point Likert format with a score range from 1(described as strongly dissatisfied) to 4(described as strongly satisfied) was used to describe the items. Analysis of data was analyzed using SPSS software 21.0 and student t test was applied for measuring the difference of means between the subgroups for each dimension.
RESULTS: A significant difference (p<0.005) in levels of satisfaction for various dimensions of job satisfaction within gender, educational qualification and work status was found on analysis. The postgraduates were found to be more satisfied as compared to graduates with a difference in job satisfaction level between genders which was related to the personal time dimension. It was also derived from the study that dentists working full time expressed dissatisfaction in terms of family time, thus to issues in their personal relationships.
CONCLUSION: Overall, it was found that the dentists have a high level of job satisfaction and the socio demographic factors deeply influence this domain of career

Teledentistry: A New Evolution in Dentistry
Teledentistry is a new field that combines telecommunication to advanced dental care. Most of the dentists are not aware about the goals, advantages of teledentistry and how it can be used to improve the delivery of oral healthcare and lower its costs. It also has the potential to eliminate the disparities in oral health care between rural and urban communities. In dentistry, it can be used by specialists in various branches and can serve the general dentist too. Some barriers still exist for teledentistry practice, which includes legal, educational and insurance issues. In spite of these barriers, telemedicine and teledentistry have showed tremendous growth in recent years . This article places emphasis on how teledentistry can be a cost effective answer to the dentists and their patients
Paget’s Disease of Maxilla: A Case Report
Paget disease of bone (PDB) is an idiopathic, chronic progressive disease of the bone, characterized by disordered pattern of bone resorption and formation. It has been observed to manifest itself as both monostotic and polyostotic disease. The scientific literature does not report a lot of cases on the incidence of this disease involving the jaws. In India, however a few cases have been reported in the recent times. Paget’s disease manifests itself as an asymptomatic disorder until it progresses onto the advanced stage where it becomes painful. Thus, its diagnosis on radiographs in the early stage is of paramount importance in order to deter its complications which may not only end up in disability but also can be fatal to life
Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology- A Review
Dental traumatology is a major connecting link between sports and dentistry. Sporting activities have become a huge integral part for those people who want to get involved in recreational activities. Dentistry plays a key role in handling oral and maxillofacial injuries which arise due to any sports activity. Sports dentistry is actually associated with prevention of injuries of oral and maxillofacial region and specific oral diseases in this particular area and its manifestations. Over the years, various preventive measures have become a significant part of sports dentistry which includes the use of mouthguard and dietary counselling. A sports team dentist, who plays a huge part in the diagnosis, management and prevention of injuries and diseases in sports-persons is also a great need in schools and colleges. In this review, we discuss the relationship of sports and dental diseases and how the parents and teachers are becoming an important factor in prevention of sports related injuries
MBAT: A scalable informatics system for unifying digital atlasing workflows
Abstract Background Digital atlases provide a common semantic and spatial coordinate system that can be leveraged to compare, contrast, and correlate data from disparate sources. As the quality and amount of biological data continues to advance and grow, searching, referencing, and comparing this data with a researcher's own data is essential. However, the integration process is cumbersome and time-consuming due to misaligned data, implicitly defined associations, and incompatible data sources. This work addressing these challenges by providing a unified and adaptable environment to accelerate the workflow to gather, align, and analyze the data. Results The MouseBIRN Atlasing Toolkit (MBAT) project was developed as a cross-platform, free open-source application that unifies and accelerates the digital atlas workflow. A tiered, plug-in architecture was designed for the neuroinformatics and genomics goals of the project to provide a modular and extensible design. MBAT provides the ability to use a single query to search and retrieve data from multiple data sources, align image data using the user's preferred registration method, composite data from multiple sources in a common space, and link relevant informatics information to the current view of the data or atlas. The workspaces leverage tool plug-ins to extend and allow future extensions of the basic workspace functionality. A wide variety of tool plug-ins were developed that integrate pre-existing as well as newly created technology into each workspace. Novel atlasing features were also developed, such as supporting multiple label sets, dynamic selection and grouping of labels, and synchronized, context-driven display of ontological data. Conclusions MBAT empowers researchers to discover correlations among disparate data by providing a unified environment for bringing together distributed reference resources, a user's image data, and biological atlases into the same spatial or semantic context. Through its extensible tiered plug-in architecture, MBAT allows researchers to customize all platform components to quickly achieve personalized workflows
SDSSJ103913.70+533029.7: A Super Star Cluster in the Outskirts of a Galaxy Merger
We describe the serendipitous discovery in the spectroscopic data of the
Sloan Digital Sky Survey of a star-like object, SDSSJ103913.70+533029.7, at a
heliocentric radial velocity of +1012 km/s. Its proximity in position and
velocity to the spiral galaxy NGC 3310 suggests an association with the galaxy.
At this distance, SDSSJ103913.70+533029.7 has the luminosity of a super star
cluster and a projected distance of 17 kpc from NGC 3310. Its spectroscopic and
photometric properties imply a mass of > 10^6 solar masses and an age close to
that of the tidal shells seen around NGC 3310, suggesting that it formed in the
event which formed the shells.Comment: Accepted by AJ: 4 figures (1 color
The JWST Discovery of the Triply-imaged Type Ia "Supernova H0pe" and Observations of the Galaxy Cluster PLCK G165.7+67.0
A Type Ia supernova (SN) at was discovered in James Webb Space
Telescope Near Infrared Camera imaging of the galaxy cluster PLCK G165.7+67.0
(G165; ). The SN is situated 1.5-2kpc from its host galaxy Arc 2 and
appears in three different locations as a result of gravitational lensing by
G165. These data can yield a value for Hubble's constant using time delays from
this multiply-imaged SN Ia that we call "SN H0pe." Over the entire field we
identified 21 image multiplicities, confirmed five of them using Near-Infrared
Spectrograph (NIRspec), and constructed a new lens model that gives a total
mass within 600kpc of ( M. The
photometry uncovered a galaxy overdensity at Arc 2's redshift. NIRSpec
confirmed six member galaxies, four of which surround Arc 2 with relative
velocity 900 km s and projected physical extent 33
kpc. Arc 2 dominates the stellar mass (
M), which is a factor of ten higher than other members of this
compact galaxy group. These other group members have specific star formation
rates (sSFR) of 2-260Gyr derived from the H-line flux corrected
for stellar absorption, dust extinction, and slit losses. Another group
centered on the dusty star forming galaxy Arc 1 is at . The total SFR
for the Arc 1 group ( M yr) translates to a supernova
rate of 1 SNe yr, suggesting that regular monitoring of this
cluster may yield additional SNe.Comment: 27 pages, submitted to Ap
Paper 1: The JWST PEARLS View of the El Gordo Galaxy Cluster and of the Structure It Magnifies
The massive galaxy cluster El Gordo (z=0.87) imprints multitudes of
gravitationally lensed arcs onto James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)
Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) images. Eight bands of NIRCam imaging were
obtained in the ``Prime Extragalactic Areas for Reionization and Lensing
Science'' (``PEARLS'') program. PSF-matched photometry across Hubble Space
Telescope (HST) and NIRCam filters supplies new photometric redshifts. A new
light-traces-mass lens model based on 56 image multiplicities identifies the
two mass peaks and yields a mass estimate within 500 kpc of ~(7.0 +/- 0.30) x
10^14 Msun. A search for substructure in the 140 cluster members with
spectroscopic redshifts confirms the two main mass components. The southeastern
mass peak that contains the BCG is more tightly bound than the northwestern
one. The virial mass within 1.7 Mpc is (5.1 +/- 0.60) x 10^14 Msun, lower than
the lensing mass. A significant transverse velocity component could mean the
virial mass is underestimated. We contribute one new member to the previously
known z=4.32 galaxy group. Intrinsic (delensed) positions of the five secure
group members span a physical extent of ~60 kpc. Thirteen additional candidates
selected by spectroscopic/photometric constraints are small and faint with a
mean intrinsic luminosity ~2.2 mag fainter than L*. NIRCam imaging admits a
fairly wide range of brightnesses and morphologies for the group members,
suggesting a more diverse galaxy population in this galaxy overdensity.Comment: 24 pages, accepted by Ap
