AbstractRomanian higher education institutions have taken the internationalization process as an objective of strategic development, in order to improve the quality of study programs, both in education and research activities. A key factor in increasing the interest in internationalized curriculum is the actual situation on the labor market, in the context of Romania's accession to the European Union. Internationalization strategies must be defined at the level of MA study programs, taking into account several important elements: mobility, societal goals, the Romanian legal framework, the institutional organization, the specificity of the field of study, the profile of the MA student participating in internationalized programs. Beyond all these, each university must build a viable marketing strategy, which includes a series of indicators similar to those used by prestigious international universities. A good strategy for the promotion of internationalized curriculum creates a number of opportunities: the international recognition of diplomas; the achievement of internationally recognized standards; the facilitation of the international movement of labor force (and, implicitly, the recognition of diplomas); the compatibility and harmonization of curriculum and methodologies with those of partner universities; the attraction of foreign students; improving the image of the institution; professional and financial benefits; promoting attractive specializations at international/European/regional levels; reinforcing and developing partnerships with Romanian and foreign companies, in order to support the curriculum by means of the proposed research topics, with funding based on the results obtained; strengthening and extending the existing partnerships; increasing the selection base for the PhD level; promoting the European dimension of the Romanian higher education by developing the curriculum; promoting the mobility of students and teachers, by recognizing the traineeships offered by other higher education institutions and by respecting the statutory rights of these people; jobs at international companies, at home and abroad, and lastly, the achievement of academic prestige

USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS AS GREEN BIOPESTICIDES

    Get PDF
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the application of herbal products, especially essential oils (EOs) in agriculture, as an alternative to the use of synthetic pesticides, for healthy crops and environmentally sustainable production systems. This was the main reason why the properties of EOs as natural pesticides for their promotion and use in organic farming were evaluated. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) defines biopesticide as a safer product, with a lower persistence in the environment, biodegradable, less toxic to non-target organisms, less likely to contaminate soil and groundwater. Many EOs obtained from medicinal plants have a wide range of activities against harmful insects, bacteria and phytopathogenic fungi, weeds. Their action varies from insecticidal activities, repellents, antifeedants, growth regulation, etc. This review presents the most effective biopesticides based on EOs obtained from medicinal plants and the future development prospects of this industry.Â

In this paper we will consider how the environment affects man, both from a social perspective, in the sense of daily life, and from an economic perspective, in the sense of technological changes that can affect the biodiversity of the environment. In the first part we will approach some philosophical perspectives on human nature and the way in which the environment outlines the society as well as the individual. Furthermore, we will highlight the effects on the environment, the adaptability of both man and the animal and plant kingdom alike - having as reference the O.N.U Conference of 2015 Parties

Sensorial evaluation of new developed biscuits enriched with organic apple and basil powders: preliminary study

Abstract The purpose of the study is to harness ingredients obtained from organic farming, in order to develop a new type of biscuits. Based on the original recipe, these were obtained from seeds and hemp flour and enriched with lyophilized organic apple (pieces and powder) and lyophilized organic basil powder. The organic powders were realized in the framework of the SusOrgPlus project at the Research Centre for Studies of Food Quality and Agricultural Products, and biscuits were obtained in the Bakery Pilot Station, both of University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. The consumer acceptance testing was performed on 33 consumers and consists of the evaluation of general appearance, colour, taste, aroma, and consistency (Hedonic 5-point scale). The obtained results showed that the new biscuits enriched with lyophilized apple and basil powders were easily accepted by the consumers

Synthesis and characterization of jellified composites form bovine bone-derived hydroxyapatite and starch as precursors for robocasting

Hydroxyapatite–starch composites solidify rapidly via jellification, making them suitable candidates for robocasting. However, many aspects related to hydroxyapatite powder characteristics, hydroxyapatite–starch interaction, and composites composition and properties need to be aligned with robocasting requirements to achieve a notable improvement in the functionality of printed scaffolds intended for bone regeneration. This article presents a preliminary evaluation of hydroxyapatite–starch microcomposites. Thermal analysis of the starting powders was performed for predicting composites’ behavior during heat-induced densification. Also, morphology, mechanical properties, and hydroxyapatite–starch interaction were evaluated for the jellified composites and the porous bodies obtained after conventional sintering, for different starch additions, and for ceramic particle size distributions. The results indicate that starch could be used for hydroxyapatite consolidation in limited quantities, whereas the composites shall be processed under controlled temperature. Due to a different mechanical behavior induced by particle size and geometry, a wide particle size distribution of hydroxyapatite powder is recommended for further robocasting ink development
