    Optimization of Rough Self-Propelled Rotary Turning Parameters in terms of Total Energy Consumption and Surface Roughness

    The self-propelled rotary tool turning (SPRT) process is an economic and effective solution for machining difficult-to-cut materials. This work optimized SPRT parameters, including the inclination angle (A), depth of cut (D), feed rate (f), and turning speed (V) to decrease the total energy consumption (TE) and surface roughness (SR). The turning experiments of the hardened AISI 4150 steel were executed to obtain the experimental data, while the regression method was applied to develop the TE and SR correlations. The entropy method and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) were utilized to select the weights and optimal factors. The results indicated that the optimal A, D, f, and V were 34 deg., 0.40 mm, 0.47 mm/rev., and 177 m/min, respectively, while the TE and SR were saved by 9.7% and 35.4%, respectively. The f and V were found to be the most effective parameters, followed by the D and A. The outcomes provide valuable data to determine optimal SPRT factors for minimizing energy consumption and maximizing machining quality.The optimizing technique could be applied to solve other issues for different SPRT operations

    Multi-Response Optimization of the Flat Burnishing Process with a High-Stiffness Tool in terms of Surface Characteristics

    In this work, the surface roughness (SR), surface hardness (SH), and the thickness of the affected layer (TL) of the multi-roller flat burnishing process are optimized.The parameter inputs are the tool rotational speed (S), burnishing depth (D), and feed rate (f). The flat burnishing tool having three rollers was utilized to facilitate burnishing trials. The Kriging models of performances are proposed regarding inputs.The CRITIC method and Crow Search Algorithm (CSA) were employed to select weights and optimality. The optimizing outcomes indicated that the optimal values of the S, f, and D were 912 rpm, 150 mm/min, and 0.12 mm, respectively. The improvements in the SR, SH, and TL were 33.3%, 26.9%, and 48.6%, respectively. The SR was primarily influenced by the f, followed by the D and S, respectively. The SH and TL were primarily influenced by the D, followed by the S and f, respectively. The optimal data could be applied to the practical multi-roller burnishing process to improve surface properties for flat surfaces. The Kriging models and CSA could be efficiently utilized to solve complex issues for burnishing operations and other machining processes

    Experiments and optimization for the WEDM process: A trade-off analysis between surface quality and production rate

    This work addressed a parameter optimization to simultaneously decrease the root mean square roughness (Rq) as well as the thickness of the white layer (TW) and improve the material removal rate (MRR) for the wire electro-discharge machining (WEDM) of a stainless steel 304 (SS304). The factors considered are the discharge current (C), the gap voltage (VO), the pulse on time (POT), and the wire drum speed (SP). The interpolative radius basic function (RBF) is applied to show the correlation between the varied factors and WEDM performances measured. The optimal selection is chosen using the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). Moreover, a traditional one using the response surface method (RSM) and desirability approach (DA) is adopted to compare the working efficiency of two optimization techniques. The results showed that the optimal findings of the C, POT, VO, and SP are 5.0 A, 1.0 µs, 61.0 V, and 8.0 m/min, respectively. The values of the Rq and TW are decreased by approximately 33.33% and 23.53%, respectively, while the MRR enhances 47.42% at the optimal selection, as compared to the common values used. The BRF-MOPSO can provide better performance than the RSM-DA

    MORPHOLOGICAL AWARENESS OF STUDENTS MAJORING IN ENGLISH STUDIES TOWARDS VOCABULARY LEARNING

    For those learning a second language, vocabulary plays a vital role in mastering the new one, and possessing a colossal vocabulary is extremely necessary. The paper aims to look into and assess students' awareness of morphology and the effectiveness of this approach through vocabulary learning. The subjects in this study were juniors majoring in English at a university in the south of Vietnam. The test, questionnaire, and interview were the three instruments used in this study to triangulate the results. A total of 49 students majoring in English Studies took the test, 40 students completed the questionnaire, and four students participated in an interview to evaluate their proficiency and morphological knowledge. The results of the study showed that students' awareness levels were average, and they were knowledgeable enough to employ this strategy for acquiring vocabulary. Additionally, it also enables students to comprehend morphology's benefits and drawbacks during their learning vocabulary process.  Article visualizations

    Effects of perceived corporate social responsibility practices on customers’ satisfaction and perceived value – A study in the food industry in Vietnam

    The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of perceived Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices on customers’ satisfaction and perceived value. According to the result of the literature review, the studied CSR practices include environmental protection, customer protection, community, HR policies, price, product quality, relationship selling, empathy, and fulfill expectations. To address the research objective, the present study proposed two following research questions: (1) What are factors of CSR practices impacting customers’ satisfaction?; and (2) How do these factors influence customer satisfaction and perceived value? The study approached 236 customers of the food industry to conduct a survey empirically and tested the proposed hypotheses using structural equation modeling. The research findings show that (1), in Vietnamese customers perceptions, Perceived price, Perceived quality and Empathy are three components of CSR practices; (2) these components have positive impacts on Customer satisfaction; and (3) Customer satisfaction has a positive relationship with customers’ perceived value. These findings help to enrich the CSR literature in developing countries like Vietnam, and to confirm the findings of previous studies. Moreover, from the research findings, the present study suggested some managerial implications for firms in the food industry relating to price, product quality and empathy

    MODIFICATION OF GRAPHENE OXIDE BY CURCUMIN AND APPLICATION IN POLYURETHANE COATING

    Curcumin modified graphene oxide (GO-CR) was prepared using adsorption method and polyurethane (PU) coating containing 0.3 wt% GO-CR was prepared on carbon steel. Synthesized GO-CR was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and zeta potential measurement. Corrosion protection property of polyurethane coating containing GO-CR was evaluated and compared with blank polyurethane coating and coating containing GO by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that GO-CR has layer structure like GO with lower crystallinity. In GO-CR structure curcumin was attached on GO surface. The presence of curcumin on GO-CR surface provided corrosion inhibition action for PU coating and also improved the dispersion of GO in PU coating

    360 samples of mud clam (Austriella corrugata) were collected in the intertidal zone of Quang Ninh province city from January 2015 to December 2015 for this study. The results showed that the gonad of female is black, that of male is milky white. The spawning season is from mid April to early September and the peak of spawning occurs from early June to early August. In spawning season, ratio of male/female is toward balance. In other months, rate of male is dominant in the population. Hermaphroditism occurs in the mud clam with a small percentage (from 3.3% to 10%) in the breeding season, in group with size of more than 40 mm. The length of mud clam at first sexual maturity is over 30 mm and the weight is over 20 g. The average absolute fecundity (Fa) is 960,680 eggs/individual. Development of mud clam larvae goes through main stages: Veliger, Umbo and Spat. Our findings contribute information to the planning of the artificial seed production, conservation and sustainable development of mud clam native resource.Kết quả phân tích 360 mẫu ngán (A. corrugata) thu tại các khu vực nơi có ngán phân bố thuộc vùng triều ven biển tỉnh Quảng Ninh từ tháng 1/2015 đến tháng 12/2015 cho thấy: Tuyến sinh dục ngán đực có màu trắng sữa, ngán cái có màu đen thẫm. Mùa vụ sinh sản của ngán hàng năm được xác định từ giữa tháng 4 đến đầu tháng 9, mùa sinh sản tập trung từ đầu tháng 6 đến đầu tháng 8. Ở các tháng tromg năm, tỷ lệ con đực luôn chiếm ưu thế so với con cái trong quần đàn ngán. Vào mùa sinh sản tỷ lệ đực cái cân bằng. Ngán lưỡng tính xuất hiện với tỷ lệ nhỏ (3,3 - 10%) vào mùa sinh sản và ở nhóm kích thước lớn hơn 40 mm. Ngán thành thục sinh dục lần đầu khi chiều dài đạt trên 30 mm, khối lượng trên 20 g. Sức sinh sản tuyệt đối giao động từ 340.690  - 2.090.000 trứng/cá thể, trung bình đạt 960.680 trứng/cá thể. Ấu trùng của ngán phát triển trải qua các giai đoạn chính: Ấu trùng chữ D, ấu trùng đỉnh vỏ và ấu trùng chân bò. Sau đó, ngán phát triển thành con non. Kết quả nghiên cứu góp phần cung cấp cơ sở khoa học cho việc xây dựng kế hoạch sản xuất giống nhân tạo, bảo vệ và phát triển bền vững nguồn lợi ngán tại địa phương

    RPGR-associated dystrophies: Clinical, genetic, and histopathological features

    This study describes the clinical, genetic, and histopathological features in patients with RPGR-associated retinal dystrophies. Nine male patients from eight unrelated families underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination. Additionally, the histopathology of the right eye from a patient with an end-stage cone-rod-dystrophy (CRD)/sector retinitis pigmentosa (RP) phenotype was examined. All RPGR mutations causing a CRD phenotype were situated in exon ORF15. The mean best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA, decimals) was 0.58 (standard deviation (SD)): 0.34; range: 0.05–1.13); and the mean spherical refractive error was −4.1 D (SD: 2.11; range: −1.38 to −8.19). Hyperautofluorescent rings were observed in six patients. Full-field electroretinography responses were absent in all patients. The visual field defects ranged from peripheral constriction to central islands. The mean macular sensitivity on microperimetry was 11.6 dB (SD: 7.8; range: 1.6–24.4) and correlated significantly with BCVA (r = 0.907; p = 0.001). A histological examination of the donor eye showed disruption of retinal topology and stratification, with a more severe loss found in the peripheral regions. Reactive gliosis was seen in the inner layers of all regions. Our study demonstrates the highly variable phenotype found in RPGR-associated retinal dystrophies. Therapies should be applied at the earliest signs of photoreceptor degeneration, prior to the remodeling of the inner retina

    Pichia pastoris versus Saccharomyces cerevisiae:a case study on the recombinant production of human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor

    BACKGROUND: Recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) is a glycoprotein that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of neutropenia and leukemia in combination with chemotherapies. Recombinant hGM-CSF is produced industrially using the baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, by large-scale fermentation. The methylotrophic yeast, Pichia pastoris, has emerged as an alternative host cell system due to its shorter and less immunogenic glycosylation pattern together with higher cell density growth and higher secreted protein yield than S. cerevisiae. In this study, we compared the pipeline from gene to recombinant protein in these two yeasts. RESULTS: Codon optimization in silico for both yeast species showed no difference in frequent codon usage. However, rhGM-CSF expressed from S. cerevisiae BY4742 showed a significant discrepancy in molecular weight from those of P. pastoris X33. Analysis showed purified rhGM-CSF species with molecular weights ranging from 30 to more than 60 kDa. Fed-batch fermentation over 72 h showed that rhGM-CSF was more highly secreted from P. pastoris than S. cerevisiae (285 and 64 mg total secreted protein/L, respectively). Ion exchange chromatography gave higher purity and recovery than hydrophobic interaction chromatography. Purified rhGM-CSF from P. pastoris was 327 times more potent than rhGM-CSF from S. cerevisiae in terms of proliferative stimulating capacity on the hGM-CSF-dependent cell line, TF-1. CONCLUSION: Our data support a view that the methylotrophic yeast P. pastoris is an effective recombinant host for heterologous rhGM-CSF production
