A Planar Interdigital Sensor for Bio-impedance Measurement: Theoretical analysis, Optimization and Simulation

    Get PDF
This paper proposes the design of a biosensor to characterize the dielectric and conductive properties of biological materials (for example blood or water) by impedance spectroscopy. Particularly, its design optimized the geometric structure interdigitated electrodes. This optimization allows extending the frequency range of measurement by reducing the polarization effect. Polarization effect is manifested by an interface capability (or double layer) from interaction between ions and molecules in the boundary between the surface of the electrolyte and the electrodes, it increases the measurement error at low frequencies. This paper recommends also a novel method to determine the parameters (relative permittivity, thickness and capacitance per unit area) of the double layer (DL) at the contact surface of the electrode with the solution. CoventorWare software was utilized to modelize of interdigital sensor structure in three dimensions (3D) to verify the analytical results and evaluate the influence of geometrical parameters and the dielectric properties of the medium on bioelectrical impedance. Assessment of High School Students’ Learning and Development of Qualities and Competencies: A Case Study

    Get PDF
This study aims to assess high school students' learning outcomes, their achievement of goals and fulfilling academic requirements and how the entire teaching and learning process takes place. The study, consisting of an experimental group and a control group was conducted for pre-test and post-test comparisons of the academic performance of 88 10th grade students. 44 students were selected as the experimental group that underwent a specific teaching strategy to monitor their development of qualities and competencies in one semester, and the remaining 44 students acted as the control group. The data collected after the tests were analyzed using SPSS software (V20). The results showed that the students in the experimental group had better academic results than those in the control group. The findings of this study have implications for policy, further research as well as approaches for the assessment of students’ development of qualities and competencies in Vietnam

Asymptotic behavior of solutions of quasilinear differential-algebraic equations

    Get PDF
This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of solutions of linear differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) under small nonlinear perturbations. Some results on the asymptotic behavior of solutions which are well known for ordinary differential equations are extended to DAEs. The main tools are the projector-based decoupling and the contractive mapping principle. Under certain assumptions on the linear part and the nonlinear term, asymptotic behavior of solutions are characterized. As the main result, a Perron type theorem that establishes the exponential growth rate of solutions is formulated

Does foreign ownership impact accounting conservatism adoption in Vietnam?

    Get PDF
This study investigates the effects of foreign ownership on accounting conservatism adoption in Vietnam. Although foreign ownership is found to have a positive relationship with accounting conservatism in Korea (An, 2015), there is still no general agreement on it. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to shed more light on the association between foreign ownership and accounting conservatism. Using data from Vietnamese firms listed on stock exchanges, the study finds that in contrast to the findings of An, foreign ownership is negatively associated with accounting conservatism. This result supports the transient hypothesis of foreign ownership, indicating that foreign investors with the low level of ownership do not have significant incentives to oversee managers, thus not influencing financial reporting quality. © 2017 Prague Development Center.Internal Grant Agency of FaME; TBU - The Relationship between Concentration Ownership and Financial Reporting Quality [IGA/FaME/2017/004

Optimal operation of Hoa Binh reservoir for flood control on Hong-Thai Binh river system

    Get PDF
In the paper the optimal operation of Hoabinh reservoir for flood control on Hong–Thai Binh river system is presented. The findings show that in the flood season in 1996 if the operation of gates and outlets of Hoa Binh reservoir was made base on the calculated release, the water level at Hanoi would be 12.3 m and the water level of Hoa Binh reservoir would be 98 m. So the calculated release from Hoabinh reservoir in August 1996 can be considered as optimal in the mean that the water level at Hanoi can be controlled and the Hoabinh reservoir still have necessary pool for controlling the next floods
