Obtaining non-Abelian field theories via Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism

In this work we have shown that it is possible to construct non-Abelian field theories employing, in a systematic way, the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism. This approach follows two steps. In the first step, the original Abelian fields are modified in order to introduce the non-Abelian algebra. After that, the Faddeev-Jackiw method is implemented and the gauge symmetry relative to some non-Abelian symmetry group, is introduced through the zero-mode of the symplectic matrix. We construct the SU(2) and SU(2)xU(1) Yang-Mills theories having as starting point the U(1) Maxwell electromagnetic theory.Comment: 6 pages. Revtex 4.

The aim of this study was to verify the association between inflammatory biomarkers, dyslipidemia, obesity and physical activity status in 10-years old children. Ninety-four children participated in this study and were classified into eutrophic (n=36), overweight (n=34) or obese (n=24) according to their body mass index (BMI). The genic expression of interleukin 6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and chemokine C-C motif ligand 2 (CCL-2) mRNA; the serum concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) and triglycerides; BMI, percentage of body fat (% BF) and waist circumference; and the number of steps per day were determined. The expression of IL-6, TNF-α and CCL-2 were associated (p 0.05) between pro-inflammatory biomarkers and number of steps per day was found.222182

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)We present a list of vascular plants found in Legado das Águas, Reserva Votorantim, a private reserve having an area of approximately 35,000 ha that spans the municipalities of Tapiraí, Miracatú, and Juquiá, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The reserve is part of a complex of state-protected areas including Alto Ribeira Touristic State Park, Intervales State Park, Carlos Botelho State Park, Jurupará State Park, and Serra do Mar State Park. Together, these form an important and large area of continuous and well-preserved forest. Our study, which involved two main floristic surveys in March/April 2013 and April 2014, recorded 768 species, representing 131 families and 432 genera. The majority of species were angiosperms (619) representing 106 families and 370 genera. There were also two species of gymnosperms belonging to two genera in separate families; 147 species of ferns and lycophytes belonging to 23 families and 60 genera. In demonstrating the presence of almost 800 species of plants, of which 16 are threatened, our study highlights the importance of floristic surveys and the critical role of private protected areas in managing and preserving native flora.

Studies involving bioacoustics analysis turned possible the identification of complex species groups, as well as the description and differentiation of cryptic species. In order to increase the knowledge on the species composition of amphibians in Araucaria Forests, we sampled eleven areas in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina, which significantly increased the geographic distribution range of eight amphibian species: Ischnocnema henselii, Dendropsophus anceps, a currently classified as critically endangered in Paraná State, D. nahdereri, Scinax granulatus, Trachycephalus dibernardoi, Pseudis cardosoi, Leptodactylus araucaria and L. nanus. Some of the new records represent corrections of previous identifications for example: Ischnocnema henselii is a cryptic species with some populations in Paraná that have been previously mistaken to I. guentheri; Trachycephalus dibernardoi was mistaken for T. imitatrix and Leptodactylus nanus to L. marmoratus. We also characterize and describe the calls of all these species.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Universidade Estadual Paulista Programa de Pós-graduação em Biologia AnimalUniversidade Federal de Goiás (UFG) Departamento de Ecologia Laboratório de Comportamento Animal e HerpetologiaUniversidade Federal do Acre Centro Multidisciplinar Laboratório de HerpetologiaStaatliches Museum für Naturkunde StuttgartUniversidade Tecnológica Federal do ParanáUniversidade Estadual Paulista Departamento de Zoologia e BotânicaUniversidade Estadual Paulista Programa de Pós-graduação em Biologia AnimalUniversidade Estadual Paulista Departamento de Zoologia e Botânic
