    Frasa Nomina Posesif dalam Cerita Pendek di Majalah Suara Muhammadiyah Tahun 2014

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan pola frasa nomina posesif dalam cerita pendek di majalah Suara Muhammadiyah tahun 2014, dan 2) mendeskripsikan hubungan makna antar unsur-unsur dalam frasa nomina posesif dalam cerita pendek di majalah Suara Muhammadiya tahun 2014. Metode yang digunakan yakni metode padan referensial dan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini yakni 1) pola posesif yang digunakan pada cerita pendek dalam majalah Suara Muhammadiyah meliputi 11 pola posesif yaitu: 8 pola posesif yang ditemukan yaitu, yaitu: (1) Nomina + persona (2) Nomina reduplikasi + klitik, (3) nomina + kata sebutan atau gelaran, (4) nomina + nama diri, (5) nomina + kata kekerabatan, (6) nomina + jabatan, (7) nomina + profesi (8) nomina + kata yang menyatakan tempat. 2) hubungan makna yang terdapat pada frasa nomina diklasifikasikan secara garis besar menjadi 2 jenis. Jenis pertama yakni frasa nomina setara dengan makna ‘himpunan’ dan jenis kedua yaitu frasa nomina bertingkat yang terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu frasa nomina bertingkat dengan struktur D-M dan frasa nomina bertingkat dengan struktur M-D. Frasa nomina bertingkat dengan unsur D-M terdapat 9 jenis makna yaitu: frasa nomina bertingkat dengan makna ‘asal bahan’, ‘tempat’, ‘sifat’, ‘keadaan’, ‘ukuran’, ‘umur’, ‘tujuan’, ‘bagian’, dan ‘urutan’. Jenis makna yang kedua yakni frasa nomina bertingkat dengan struktur M-D yang meliputi frasa nomina bertingkat dengan makna ‘jumlah’ dan ‘himpunan’

    The Role of Frailty Scores to Predict the Outcomes in Non Operative Treatment of Valgus Impacted Neck of Femur Fractures

    \ua9 2024 The Authors. Objectives: The management of valgus-impacted neck of femur fracture is controversial between operative and conservative treatments. This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of the Clinical frailty Score for predicting the prognosis of patients who underwent non-operative treatment for the valgus-impacted neck of femur fracture (NOF). Methods: A single-centred retrospective review of patients admitted with valgus impacted NOF. Data were collected from patients’ records, including demographics, Clinical Frailty Score (CFS), Nottingham Hip Fracture Score (NHFS) and Abbreviated Mental Test Score (AMTS). Patients were followed up to 24 months postoperatively. Results: Fifty-eight patients who were treated non-operatively with a mean follow-up of 2.6 years met our inclusion criteria. Twenty-nine patients failed the non-operative treatment and required replacement surgeries, while 29 had successful outcomes (50%). There were no differences between the two groups’ mean age and gender distributions (P 0.527 and 0.139, respectively). The successful group had significantly higher CFS (P 0.013), worse AMTS and higher mortality risk based on the NHFS (P 0.006 and P < 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: This study demonstrates that CFS, AMTS and NHFS can be used as predictors when considering non-operative treatment for the valgus-impacted neck of femur fracture. Patients who are frail, demented and high risk based on the NHFS have higher success rates with non-operative treatment

    Using WhatsApp Focus Group Discussions to Collect Qualitative Data Collection During a Pandemic: Exploring Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceptions of COVID-19 in Singapore

    This qualitative study aimed to explore Singapore residents’ knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors around COVID-19 as shaped by different information sources. Through utilizing WhatsApp as a means of conducting digital focus group discussions (FGDs), participants were involved in five consecutive days of discussions through both synchronous and asynchronous means. We found that the use of WhatsApp as a means of conducting FGDs not only served as a means of generating essential, time-sensitive data in the community, but also advanced the quality and quantity of data generated, democratized, and enhanced the participatory nature of FGDs, and facilitated the communication of potential issues around data privacy between facilitators and participants. Although challenges around privacy and confidentiality remain, this means of collecting data is novel in terms of providing timely and relevant data during a pandemic and would be appropriate to be further utilized in the context of other health-related research beyond a public health emergency

    The ecological significance of giant clams in coral reef ecosystems

    AbstractGiant clams (Hippopus and Tridacna species) are thought to play various ecological roles in coral reef ecosystems, but most of these have not previously been quantified. Using data from the literature and our own studies we elucidate the ecological functions of giant clams. We show how their tissues are food for a wide array of predators and scavengers, while their discharges of live zooxanthellae, faeces, and gametes are eaten by opportunistic feeders. The shells of giant clams provide substrate for colonization by epibionts, while commensal and ectoparasitic organisms live within their mantle cavities. Giant clams increase the topographic heterogeneity of the reef, act as reservoirs of zooxanthellae (Symbiodinium spp.), and also potentially counteract eutrophication via water filtering. Finally, dense populations of giant clams produce large quantities of calcium carbonate shell material that are eventually incorporated into the reef framework. Unfortunately, giant clams are under great pressure from overfishing and extirpations are likely to be detrimental to coral reefs. A greater understanding of the numerous contributions giant clams provide will reinforce the case for their conservation

    Investigations into the interface failure of yttria partially stabilised zirconia - porcelain dental prostheses through microscale residual stress and phase quantification

    Objectives: Yttria Partially Stabilised Zirconia (YPSZ) is a high strength ceramic which has become widely used in porcelain veneered dental copings due to its exceptional toughness. Within these components the residual stress and crystallographic phase of YPSZ close to the interface are highly influential in the primary failure mode; near interface porcelain chipping. In order to improve present understanding of this behaviour, characterisation of these parameters is needed at an improved spatial resolution.Methods: In this study transmission micro-focus X-ray Diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and focused ion beam milling residual stress analysis techniques have, for the first time, been used to quantify and cross-validate the microscale spatial variation of phase and residual stress of YPSZ in a prosthesis cross-section.Results: The results of all techniques were found to be comparable and complementary. Monoclinic YPSZ was observed within the first 10m of the YPSZ-porcelain interface with a maximum volume fraction of 60%. Tensile stresses were observed within the first 150m of the interface with a maximum value of ≈ 300 MPa at 50m from the interface. The remainder of the coping was in mild compression at ≈ − 30 MPa, with shear stresses of a similar magnitude also being induced by the YPSZ phase transformation.Significance: The analysis indicates thatthe interaction between phase transformation, residual stress and porcelain creep at YPSZ-porcelain interface results in a localised porcelain fracture toughness reduction. This explains the increased propensity of failure at this location, and can be used as a basis for improving prosthesis design

    Residual strain mapping through pair distribution function analysis of the porcelain veneer within a yttria partially stabilised zirconia dental prosthesis

    OBJECTIVE: Residually strained porcelain is influential in the early onset of failure in Yttria Partially Stabilised Zirconia (YPSZ) - porcelain dental prosthesis. In order to improve current understanding it is necessary to increase the spatial resolution of residual strain analysis in these veneers. METHODS: Few techniques exist which can resolve residual stress in amorphous materials at the microscale resolution required. For this reason, recent developments in Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis of X-ray diffraction data of dental porcelain have been exploited. This approach has facilitated high-resolution (70μm) quantification of residual strain in a YPSZ-porcelain dental prosthesis. In order to cross-validate this technique, the sequential ring-core focused ion beam and digital image correlation approach was implemented at a step size of 50μm. This semi-destructive technique exploits microscale strain relief to provide quantitative estimates of the near-surface residual strain. RESULTS: The two techniques were found to show highly comparable results. The residual strain within the veneer was found to be primarily tensile, with the highest magnitude stresses located at the YPSZ-porcelain interface where failure is known to originate. Oscillatory tensile and compressive stresses were also found in a direction parallel to the interface, likely to be induced by the multiple layering used during fabrication. SIGNIFICANCE: This study provides the insights required to improve prosthesis modelling, to develop new processing routes that minimise residual stress and ultimately to reduce prosthesis failure rates. The PDF approach also offers a powerful new technique for microscale strain quantification in amorphous materials.</p
