Bridging the Digital Divide: Telephone Tutoring at the Center

As many academic support centers transitioned from in-person to online from March 2020 onward, center professionals were looking for technology that would assist them to do the job right. In one Midwest, private, comprehensive university, students had already self-selected the phone as their answer to seeking writing assistance before the pandemic arrived. This essay will share findings from that study in the writing center as well as theorize why phone conversations make good sense in academic support centers. Writing centers and communication centers should adopt phone tutoring with online formats as a means to fully and justly connect with students, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and included and to enable all students to have an equitable experience amidst the digital divide

Combustion of renewable liquid fuels

Práce se zabývá spalováním kapalných biopaliv a jejich využitelností jako paliva pro energetické jednotky o menších tepelných výkonech. V úvodu práce je provedena rešerše základních potenciálně využitelných kapalných biopaliv na území ČR. Tato část je zaměřena obzvlášť na způsob výroby a energetickou náročnost výroby metylesteru řepkového oleje (MEŘO) a biolihu. V dalších kapitolách je provedena rešerše základních způsobů atomizace kapalných paliv. Důraz je kladen na pneumatickou atomizaci, konkrétně pak na effervescentní způsob atomizace, který byl využit při praktických zkouškách. Náplní praktické části je provedení zkoušek fosilního paliva (motorová nafta) a vybraného biopaliva (MEŘO) na zkušebně hořáků. Vlastní zkoušce předcházelo zjištění základních spalovacích vlastností použitých paliv a provedení plánu experimentu. Dále je provedeno srovnání jednotlivých provozních stavů z hlediska kvality atomizace, kvality spalování a geometrických charakteristik plamene. V závěru práce je zhodnocena využitelnost zkoušeného kapalného biopaliva pro energetické jednotky menších tepelných výkonů.This thesis is concerned with combustion of liquid biofuels, and possibility of using liquid biofuels for lower heat output power units. Overview of basic usable liquid biofuels in Czech Republic is executed in the beginning of the thesis. This part is focused especially on production method and energy effectivity of rape-oil methyl ester (RME) and bioethanol production. Overview of basic atomization method of liquid fuels is executed in next chapters. The focus is stressed on pneumatic atomization, especially effervescent atomization method, which was used in practical experiment. Practical part contains fossil fuel and selected biofuel (RME) combustion test executed on burner testing device. Basic combustion properties was found and test plan was made before executing the test. Various operating conditions are compared in terms of atomization quality, combustion quality and geometrical characteristics of flame. Usability of tested liquid biofuels for lower heat output power units is evaluated in the conclusion.

Probably the most contemporaneously discussed topic regarding area of competition law within the EU is the interaction between public and private enforcement of competition. Despite the fact that there is general agreement that it is necessary to support and promote private enforcement of competition law the reality is that successfully claim damages caused by competition law infringement is extremely difficult. Fundamental problem for potential damage claimants is foremost obtaining evidence and information to be able to submit civil action, especially those based on which they would be able to calculate damages. Moreover even with such evidence it is extremely difficult to calculate exact amount of damages due to the character of damages caused by anticompetitive behaviour

Physical properties and combustion characteristic of fuels

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je vytvoření otevřené výpočetní pomůcky pro stanovení základních vlastností plynných paliv a výpočet základních spalovacích charakteristik. Teoretická část práce se věnuje chemickým rovnicím při spalování, uvádí základní vztahy pro výpočet dějů v ideálních a nedokonalých plynech, uvádá výpočty výhřevnosti a mezí výbušnosti směsi plynů a výpočet Wobbeho indexu. Dále jsou uvedeny a popsány nejpoužívanější druhy plynných paliv. Další část práce je věnována okysličovadlu, především výpočtu složení vlhkého vzduchu a výpočtům při míchání vzduchu s čistým kyslíkem. V závěru teoretické části jsou uvedeny vztahy pro výpočet entalpií ideálních a nedokonalých plynů a výpočet adiabatické teploty spalin.The subject of this bachelor’s thesis is creating an open calculation tool for determination of elementary properties of gas fuels and calculation of basic combustion characteristics. The theoretical part is focused on chemical equations by combustion, basic equations for calculation of process in gases and calculation of heating value, explosive limits and Wobe index. The most used gas fuels are described furthermore. The next part of bachelor’s thesis is focused on oxidant, especially on the calculation of composition of moist air and mixing of air and oxygen. Equations for the computing of enthalpy of gases and adiabatic heating temperature are noted at the end of the theoretical part.

Proposal of measures for company shares value appreciation

Práce se zabývá hodnotou akcií vybrané společnosti a manipulací s jejich kurzem na kapitálovém trhu. V teoretické části je popsána fundamentální a technická analýza akcií, pomocí kterých se určuje jejich vnitřní hodnota , trend a očekávaný vývoj kurzu. Následně podle nové právní úpravy jsou popsány zakázané praktiky obchodování na kapitálovém trhu. V analytické části jsou provedeny analýzy pomocí niž je stanovena vnitřní hodnota akcií společnosti a predikován vývoj jejich kurzu. Na základě analýz jsou navrženy postupy, pomocí kterých management společnosti může realizovat zvýšení kurzu akcií společnosti, aniž by porušil nové právní předpisy týkající se manipulace s kurzem cenných papírů. V závěru jsou shrnuty doporučení a poznatky, které mohou být obecně využity pro zlepšení postavení firem na kapitálových trzích.The Paper is focused on company shares value and manipulation with their course on capital market. Theoretical part describes Fundamentals and technical analysis, which are used for identifying share inner value a expected trend in course. Consequently are described forbidden market practices and transactions on capital market according to new legal regulation. Analytic part contains analysis, which identifies inner value of company shares and predicts trend in course. Following analysis are setting measures, which enables company management to realize appreciation of company shares, without making offend against legal regulations of securities course manipulation. Summary contains recommendations and findings, which can be generally used for improving companies positions on capital markets.

The article describes the basic underlying principles of competition law concerning abuse of dominance, follows with the introduction to relevant aspects of intellectual property law with focus on patents. The core of the article discusses the interaction of patents and competition law. The authors argue that patents can cause increase of market power and lead the undertaking to become dominant. Such dominant undertakings are limited in their market behavior also while exploiting and protecting their patent rights. Potential antitrust issues could occur especially with certain types of patents, such as essential patents and standard essential patents. The authors verify their conclusions with existing case law and conclude with recommendations to undertakings with strong market power active in the patent field on how to avoid the risk of breaching competition law rules

Článek představuje základní principy soutěžního práva týkající se problematiky zneužití dominantního postavení a současně uvádí základní vhled do relevantních otázek práva duševního vlastnictví, zejména patentového práva. Jádrem článku je vzájemné působení patentů a soutěžního práva. Autoři jsou toho názoru, že patenty mohou vést k nárůstu tržní síly soutěžitele a vést až k jeho dominanci. Dominantní soutěžitelé jsou omezeni ve svém soutěžním chování i způsobech užívání a ochrany svých patentů. Potenciální soutěžně právní problém může nastat obzvláště u jistých typů patentů, jako jsou esenciální patenty a standardní esenciální patenty. Autoři ověřují své závěry na existující judikatuře.
