    The Effect of Communicative Language Teaching (Clt) Method on English Comprehension for Students at the Fifth Grade of SD Kartika X-3

    This study incolves the students at the fifth grade of SD Kartika X-3 as the subject ofthe research. And the writer teaches them through Information Gap, games, Pair Work, etcetera. A pre and post test was administered. The data was analyzed by suing t-test. Theresult shows that students' English comprehension had improved by using CommunicativeLanguage TGeaching (CLT) method at the coefficient t counted =2265>t table = 1667 withthe significance of level in 0.05 and the degree freedon is 32 (df=n-1). The students'responses toward the post-test given prove that Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)method is effective to improve students' English comprehension ability

    Once-daily budesonide/formoterol in a single inhaler in adults with moderate persistent asthma

    AbstractPatients with moderate persistent asthma (n = 523; mean FEV1 77.4%) not fully controlled with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS; 400–1000 ÎŒg/day) were randomized to receive either once-daily budesonide/formoterol (160/4.5 ÎŒg, two inhalations); or twice-daily budesonide/formoterol (160/4.5 ÎŒg, one inhalation); or budesonide (400 ÎŒg) once-daily for 12 weeks. Once-daily dosing was administered in the evening and twice-daily dosing was administered in the morn-ing and evening. All patients received twice-daily budesonide (200 ÎŒg) during a 2-week run-in. Compared with budesonide alone, change in mean morning and evening peak expiratory flow was greater in the once-daily budesonide/formoterol group (27 and 17 1 min−1, respectively; P<0.001) and twice-daily budesonide/formoterol group (23 and 24 1 min−1, respectively; P<0.001). Night awakenings, symptom-free days, reliever-use-free days and asthma-control days were all improved during once-daily budesonide/formoterol therapy vs. budesonide (P≀0.05). Similar improvements were also seen with twice-daily budesonide/formoterol (P≀0.05). The risk of a mild exacerbation was reduced after once- and twice-daily budesonide/formoterol vs. budesonide (38% and 35%, respectively; P<0.002). All treatments were well tolerated. Budesonide/formoterol, once- or twice-daily, in a single inhaler improved asthma symptoms and exacerbations compared with budesonide. In the majority of patients with moderate persistent asthma requiring ICS and long-actingÎČ -agonists, once-daily formoterol/budesonide provided sustained efficacy over 24 h, similar to twice-daily dosing

    Multiscale modelling of thermoplastic woven fabric composites: From micromechanics to mesomechanics

    The mechanical properties of woven composites can be predicted by using a multiscale modelling approach. The starting point to its application is the microscale (the level of fibres, matrix and interfaces), that allows the computation of the homogenised behaviour of the yarn. The aim of this work was to predict the yarn-level behaviour of a thermoplastic-based woven composite in order to allow the formulation of a representative constitutive model that can be used to predict ply properties at the mesoscale. To accomplish this purpose, an in situ characterisation of the microconstituents was carried out. This served to generate inputs for three different representative volume element (RVE) models that allowed predicting the yarn longitudinal, transverse and shear responses. These mechanical characteristics allowed the determination of homogenised yarn constitutive behaviour which was found to be characterised by significant non-linearity until failure, specially in transverse and shear directions.The research leading to the developments described received funding of the project ADVANSEAT; a collaborative R&D project led by Grupo AntolĂ­n, and partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO).     Complex-Temperature Properties of the Ising Model on 2D Heteropolygonal Lattices

    Using exact results, we determine the complex-temperature phase diagrams of the 2D Ising model on three regular heteropolygonal lattices, (3⋅6⋅3⋅6)(3 \cdot 6 \cdot 3 \cdot 6) (kagom\'{e}), (3⋅122)(3 \cdot 12^2), and (4⋅82)(4 \cdot 8^2) (bathroom tile), where the notation denotes the regular nn-sided polygons adjacent to each vertex. We also work out the exact complex-temperature singularities of the spontaneous magnetisation. A comparison with the properties on the square, triangular, and hexagonal lattices is given. In particular, we find the first case where, even for isotropic spin-spin exchange couplings, the nontrivial non-analyticities of the free energy of the Ising model lie in a two-dimensional, rather than one-dimensional, algebraic variety in the z=e−2Kz=e^{-2K} plane.Comment: 31 pages, latex, postscript figure

    SPI Measurements of Galactic 26Al

    The precision measurement of the 1809 keV gamma-ray line from Galactic 26^{26}Al is one of the goals of the SPI spectrometer on INTEGRAL with its Ge detector camera. We aim for determination of the detailed shape of this gamma-ray line, and its variation for different source regions along the plane of the Galaxy. Data from the first part of the core program observations of the first mission year have been inspected. A clear detection of the \Al line at about 5--7 σ\sigma significance demonstrates that SPI will deepen \Al studies. The line intensity is consistent with expectations from previous experiments, and the line appears narrower than the 5.4 keV FWHM reported by GRIS, more consistent with RHESSI's recent value. Only preliminary statements can be made at this time, however, due to the multi-component background underlying the signal at \about 40 times higher intensity than the signal from Galactic 26^{26}Al.Comment: 5 pages, 8 figures; accepted for publication in A&A (special INTEGRAL volume

    Complex-Temperature Singularities in the d=2d=2 Ising Model. III. Honeycomb Lattice

    We study complex-temperature properties of the uniform and staggered susceptibilities χ\chi and χ(a)\chi^{(a)} of the Ising model on the honeycomb lattice. From an analysis of low-temperature series expansions, we find evidence that χ\chi and χ(a)\chi^{(a)} both have divergent singularities at the point z=−1≡zℓz=-1 \equiv z_{\ell} (where z=e−2Kz=e^{-2K}), with exponents γℓâ€Č=γℓ,aâ€Č=5/2\gamma_{\ell}'= \gamma_{\ell,a}'=5/2. The critical amplitudes at this singularity are calculated. Using exact results, we extract the behaviour of the magnetisation MM and specific heat CC at complex-temperature singularities. We find that, in addition to its zero at the physical critical point, MM diverges at z=−1z=-1 with exponent ÎČℓ=−1/4\beta_{\ell}=-1/4, vanishes continuously at z=±iz=\pm i with exponent ÎČs=3/8\beta_s=3/8, and vanishes discontinuously elsewhere along the boundary of the complex-temperature ferromagnetic phase. CC diverges at z=−1z=-1 with exponent αℓâ€Č=2\alpha_{\ell}'=2 and at v=±i/3v=\pm i/\sqrt{3} (where v=tanh⁥Kv = \tanh K) with exponent αe=1\alpha_e=1, and diverges logarithmically at z=±iz=\pm i. We find that the exponent relation αâ€Č+2ÎČ+Îłâ€Č=2\alpha'+2\beta+\gamma'=2 is violated at z=−1z=-1; the right-hand side is 4 rather than 2.     ToppCluster: a multiple gene list feature analyzer for comparative enrichment clustering and network-based dissection of biological systems

    ToppCluster is a web server application that leverages a powerful enrichment analysis and underlying data environment for comparative analyses of multiple gene lists. It generates heatmaps or connectivity networks that reveal functional features shared or specific to multiple gene lists. ToppCluster uses hypergeometric tests to obtain list-specific feature enrichment P-values for currently 17 categories of annotations of human-ortholog genes, and provides user-selectable cutoffs and multiple testing correction methods to control false discovery. Each nameable gene list represents a column input to a resulting matrix whose rows are overrepresented features, and individual cells per-list P-values and corresponding genes per feature. ToppCluster provides users with choices of tabular outputs, hierarchical clustering and heatmap generation, or the ability to interactively select features from the functional enrichment matrix to be transformed into XGMML or GEXF network format documents for use in Cytoscape or Gephi applications, respectively. Here, as example, we demonstrate the ability of ToppCluster to enable identification of list-specific phenotypic and regulatory element features (both cis-elements and 3â€ČUTR microRNA binding sites) among tissue-specific gene lists. ToppCluster’s functionalities enable the identification of specialized biological functions and regulatory networks and systems biology-based dissection of biological states.
