    Radiation reaction force induced nonlinear mixing of Raman sidebands of an ultra-intense laser pulse in a plasma

    Stimulated Raman scattering of an ultra-intense laser pulse in plasmas is studied by perturbatively including the leading order term of the Landau-Lifshitz radiation reaction force in the equation of motion for plasma electrons. In this approximation, radiation reaction force causes phase shift in nonlinear current densities that drive the two Raman sidebands (anti-Stokes and Stokes waves), manifesting itself into the nonlinear mixing of two sidebands. This mixing results in a strong enhancement in the growth of the forward Raman scattering instability

    Evaluation of sweet taste sensitivity in type-II Diabetes Mellitus patients

    Background: The objective is to evaluate the sweet taste sensitivity among type-II diabetes mellitus patients. Methods:  This is a cross sectional study consisted of 227 subjects (127 type-II Diabetic patients & 100 non diabetic individuals) of both the genders and age matched. Sweet taste sensitivity tests were done using different concentrations of glucose solution and compared among the diabetic patients with FBS more than 180mg/dl and diabetic patients with FBS less than 180mg/dl and also compared among the diabetic patients and non diabetic individuals.  The final concentration at which patient was able to perceive the taste was recorded. statistical analysis was done using Student’s unpaired T test. P­values of < 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant. Results: The mean of sweet taste sensitivity among diabetic patients with FBS >180 mg/dl was 6245 mg/l and the mean of sweet taste sensitivity in the diabetic patients with FBS <180 mg/dl was 2249mg/l with P<0.001 which is significant. The mean of sweet taste sensitivity among diabetic patients with FBS >180 mg/dl was 6245mg/l and the mean of sweet taste sensitivity in the non diabetic individuals was 1979mg/l with P<0.01 which is significant. the mean of sweet taste sensitivity among diabetic patients with FBS <180 mg/dl was 2249 mg/l and the mean of sweet taste sensitivity in the non diabetic individuals was 1979mg/l  with P>0.05 which is not significant. Conclusion: In our study it was concluded that type-II Diabetes Mellitus patients have lesser sensitivity for the sweet taste. Loss of sensitivity leads to the increase in sugar consumption being the risk factor for worsening the disease

    Novel aspects of radiation reaction in the classical and the quantum regime

    This work is dedicated to the study of radiation reaction signatures in the framework of classical and quantum electrodynamics. Since there has been no distinct experimental validation of radiation reaction and its underlying equations so far and its impact is expected to be substantial for the construction of new experimental devices, e.g., quantum x-free electron lasers, a profound understanding of radiation reaction effects is of special interest. Here, we describe how the inclusion of quantum radiation reaction effects changes the dynamics of ultra-relativistic electron beams colliding with intense laser pulses significantly. Thereafter, the angular distribution of emitted radiation is demonstrated to be strongly altered in the quantum framework, if in addition to single photon emission also higher order photon emissions are considered. Furthermore, stimulated Raman scattering of an ultra-intense laser pulse in plasmas is examined and forward Raman scattering is found to be significantly increased by the inclusion of radiation reaction effects in the classical regime. The numerical simulations in this work show the feasibility of an experimental verification of the predicted effects with presently available lasers and electron accelerators.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures, Proceedings of the LPHYS'13 Worksho

    Feasibility Study of a Facility to Produce Injection Molded Parts for Automotive Industry

    [EN] This study aims at the preliminary assessment in designing a complete stand-alone industrial facility to produce injection molded parts for the automotive industry. A draft design solution to allow the company to evaluate the capital investment was performed giving an estimated solution in project profitability. Proposed successive design steps were developed. It includes the definition of input data and information, quantity determination, plat layout diagrams, machine selection, selection of material handling equipment, plant layout design including space requirements of production centers, aísles, support functions. Moreover, the outdoor facility masterplan design is also proposed.     Generalised Shastry-Sutherland Models in three and higher dimensions

    We construct Heisenberg anti-ferromagnetic models in arbitrary dimensions that have isotropic valence bond crystals (VBC) as their exact ground states. The d=2 model is the Shastry-Sutherland model. In the 3-d case we show that it is possible to have a lattice structure, analogous to that of SrCu_2(BO_3)_2, where the stronger bonds are associated with shorter bond lengths. A dimer mean field theory becomes exact at d -> infinity and a systematic 1/d expansion can be developed about it. We study the Neel-VBC transition at large d and find that the transition is first order in even but second order in odd dimensions.Comment: Published version; slightly expande

    Occurrence of multiple combinations of G and P types of group A bovine and human rotaviruses in Uttarakhand and Nagaland states, India

    The present study describes the distribution of RV in bovine and human population from Uttarakhand and North eastern region of India. Group A rotavirus (RVA) was detected in 17.33% and 15.68% diarrhoeic cases from bovine and humans, respectively. All bovine RVA isolates were long electropherotypes whereas, in human RVA isolates both long and short electropherotypes were detected. Genotyping by multiplex RT-PCR revealed presence of G3 and G10 genotypes in bovine and G1 and G3 in humans. Among P types, P[1] and P[11] in bovine and P[4] and P[8] in human were detected. The G and P type combinations present were G3P[11], G10P[1], G3P[1]P[11],  G10P[1]P[11],  G3G10P[1]P[11], G3G6G10P[1] and G3G6G10P[11] in bovine, while G1P[4], G3P[8] and G1G3P[8] in human samples

    Lepton polarization asymmetry in radiative dileptonic B-meson decays in MSSM

    In this paper we study the polarization asymmetries of the final state lepton in the radiative dileptonic decay of B meson (\bsllg) in the framework of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and various other unified models within the framework of MSSM e.g. mSUGRA, SUGRA (where condition of universality of scalar masses is relaxed) etc. Lepton polarization, in addition of having a longitudinal component (\pl), can have two other components, \pt and \pn, lying in and perpendicular to the decay plane, which are proportional to \ml and hence are significant for final state being μ+ μ−\mu^+ ~ \mu^- or τ+τ˜−\tau^+ \~\tau^-.
