Tras el excelente trabajo de investigación de Perler la mayoría de investigadores aceptan la cronología de la ordenación sacerdotal de Agustín en enero del año 391. Sin embargo, nuevas consideraciones en torno a la Vita Augustini de Posidio, un pasaje del De ciuitate Dei que implica alargar la estancia de Agustín en Cartago tras su viaje de retorno de Italia, la cronología del De Magistro y la debilidad de algunos de los argumentos aducidos por Perler, obligan a ser más cautos a la hora de aceptar como irrefutable su propuesta cronológica.After Perler s Les voyages de saint Augustin most of the experts accept that Augustine was ordained a priest in January 391. Study of machine learning techniques for image compression

In the age of the Internet and cloud-based applications, image compression has become increasingly important. Moreover, image processing has recently sparked the interest of technology companies as autonomous machines powered by artificial intelligence using images as input are rapidly growing. Reducing the amount of information needed to represent an image is key to reducing the amount of storage space, transmission bandwidth, and computation time required to process the image, which in turn saves resources, energy, and money. This study aims to investigate machine learning techniques (Fourier, wavelets, and PCA) for image compression. Several Fourier and wavelet methods are included, such as the wellknown Cooley-Tukey algorithm, the discrete cosine transform, and the Mallart algorithm, among others. To comprehend each step of image compression, an object-oriented Matlab code has been developed in-house. To do so, extensive research in machine learning techniques, not only in terms of theoretical understanding, but also in the mathematics that support it. The developed code is used to compare the performance of the different compression techniques studied. The findings of this study are consistent with the advances in image compression technologies in recent years, with the dominance of the JPEG compression method (Fourier) and later JPEG2000 (wavelets) reigning supreme

Aproximació a la col·lecció de gravats i goigs de Josep Joan Piquer i Jover dipositats a l'Arxiu Comarcal d'Osona

L’objectiu del present treball és el de donar a conèixer la col·lecció de gravats i goigs del pedagog i historiador barceloní Josep Joan Piquer i Jover (1911-1985), dipositada a l’Arxiu Comarcal de Vic l’any 2013. En una primera incursió, a partir de l’exhaustiva catalogació elaborada pel mateix Arxiu, l’autor ha fet una anàlisi general del conjunt dels 1.700 documents, bàsicament de caràcter religiós, que abasten el període contingut entre el s. xvi i bona part del s. xx. Per a una millor comprensió, s’ha fet una introducció global a l’art del gravat i dels goigs
