    Experimental Research of the Diffraction and Vavilov-Cherenkov Radiation Generation in a Teflon Target

    Geometry of Vavilov-Cherekov (VChR) radiation when an electron moves close to a dielectric target is in analogy to diffraction radiation (DR) geometry. In this case we may expect DR generation from the upstream face of the target besides that VChR. The joint observation of these booth types of radiation is very interesting from the pseudo-photon viewpoint, which is applicable for relativistic electrons. Unexpected results obtained in our experiment insist on reflection about nature both DR and VChR. The experiment was performed on the relativistic electron beam of the microtron of Tomsk Polytechnic University.Comment: This article will be published in Journal of Physic

    Russia, China, and North Korea Strategic Defense Partnership

    Due to the aggravation of the global geopolitical confrontation, the relations in the sphere of security issues within the framework of the Russia - China - North Korea triangle get particular importance. The purpose of the study is to analyze the current state and prospects of the strategic defense partnership between Russia, China, and North Korea. The authors used the following methods: a system approach, a method of situational analysis, a comparative method, a method of analyzing the current situation, as well as a method of scenario forecasting. The authors analyzed the relations between Russia and China in the military sphere, Russian-North Korean relations in the security sphere, as well as the role of China and North Korea in ensuring stability in the region. It is concluded that in the current conditions of rising tensions in the AsiaPacific region, primarily on the island of Taiwan and the Korean peninsula, these countries will converge, first, against the triangle USA - Japan - South Korea, often called “Asian NATO”. To conclude, the relations between Russia, China and North Korea will not take the form of a fullfledged military alliance. It is expected that the efforts of military-technical cooperation and the possibility of mutual support in the event of a security threat to one of the countries will be deepened

    Influence of the enterosorbent on quality of eggs

    In this article research the influence of natural montmorillonite containing sorbent used as a mineral supplement in animal feed in an amount of 30 g per 1 kg of sorbent feed on commercial quality table eggs at his dacha hens-layers. Found that feeding hens’ mineral feed additive reduces the toxic chemical elements in a chicken egg. It was found that the weight of the eggs in the experimental group compared to the control group, was significantly increased by 3,5% (p <0,05) after the completion of feeding the mineral sorbent. Despite the fact that in the control group, egg weight did not change and remained virtually unchange

    Simulation of Coherent Diffraction Radiation Generation by Pico-Second Electron Bunches in an Open Resonator

    In this report we present new approach for calculation of processes of diffraction radiation generation, storage and decay in an open resonator based on generalized surface current method. The radiation characteristics calculated using the developed approach were compared with those calculated using Gaussian-Laguerre modes method. The comparison shows reasonable coincidence of the results that allows to use developed method for investigation of more complicated resonators

    Cyclic creep damage in thin-walled structures

    Thin-walled structural elements are often subjected to cyclic loadings. This paper presents a material model describing creep behaviour under high-cycle loading conditions (N greater than or equal to 5 x 10(4)-10(5)). Assuming that the load can be split into two joint acting parts (a static and a superposed, rapidly varying small cyclic component), the asymptotic expansion of two time-scales has been applied to the governing equations of the initial-boundary value creep problem. The system of equations determine two problems. The first is similar to the creep problem by quasi-static loading. The second is the problem of forced vibrations. Both the problems are coupled by constitutive equations. The model is applied to the simulation of the cyclic creep damage behaviour of thin-walled structural elements. The results are discussed for two special numerical examples (a conical shell and a circular plate). The simulations show that the creep and the damage rates as well as the failure time are strongly sensitive to the redistribution of the stress state cycle asymmetry parameter A(s). The values of A(s) increase during the creep process. For particular cases of the loading frequency, A(s) can exceed the critical value. In this case the material model must be extended in order to consider the creep-fatigue damage interaction

    Hunting for origins of migraine pain: cluster analysis of spontaneous and capsaicin-induced firing in meningeal trigeminal nerve fibers

    International audienceTrigeminal nerves in meninges are implicated in generation of nociceptive firing underlying migraine pain. However, the neurochemical mechanisms of nociceptive firing in meningeal trigeminal nerves are little understood. In this study, using suction electrode recordings from peripheral branches of the trigeminal nerve in isolated rat meninges, we analyzed spontaneous and capsaicin-induced orthodromic spiking activity. In control, biphasic single spikes with variable amplitude and shapes were observed. Application of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) agonist capsaicin to meninges dramatically increased firing whereas the amplitudes and shapes of spikes remained essentially unchanged. This effect was antagonized by the specific TRPV1 antagonist capsazepine. Using the clustering approach, several groups of uniform spikes (clusters) were identified. The clustering approach combined with capsaicin application allowed us to detect and to distinguish "responder" (65%) from "non responder" clusters (35%). Notably, responders fired spikes at frequencies exceeding 10 Hz, high enough to provide postsynaptic temporal summation of excitation at brainstem and spinal cord level. Almost all spikes were suppressed by tetrodotoxin (TTX) suggesting an involvement of the I I X-sensitive sodium channels in nociceptive signaling at the peripheral branches of trigeminal neurons. Our analysis also identified transient (desensitizing) and long-lasting (slowly desensitizing) responses to the continuous application of capsaicin. Thus, the persistent activation of nociceptors in capsaicin-sensitive nerve fibers shown here may be involved in trigeminal pain signaling and plasticity along with the release of migraine-related neuropeptides from TRPV1 positive neurons. Furthermore, cluster analysis could be widely used to characterize the temporal and neurochemical profiles of other pain transducers likely implicated in migraine
