Algebras generated by two bounded holomorphic functions
We study the closure in the Hardy space or the disk algebra of algebras
generated by two bounded functions, of which one is a finite Blaschke product.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for density or finite codimension
of such algebras. The conditions are expressed in terms of the inner part of a
function which is explicitly derived from each pair of generators. Our results
are based on identifying z-invariant subspaces included in the closure of the
algebra. Versions of these results for the case of the disk algebra are given.Comment: 22 pages ; a number of minor mistakes have been corrected, and some

Interpretations of Presburger Arithmetic in Itself
Presburger arithmetic PrA is the true theory of natural numbers with
addition. We study interpretations of PrA in itself. We prove that all
one-dimensional self-interpretations are definably isomorphic to the identity
self-interpretation. In order to prove the results we show that all linear
orders that are interpretable in (N,+) are scattered orders with the finite
Hausdorff rank and that the ranks are bounded in terms of the dimension of the
respective interpretations. From our result about self-interpretations of PrA
it follows that PrA isn't one-dimensionally interpretable in any of its finite

Motherhood, Moral Authority and the Charismatic Matriarch in the Aftermath of Lethal Violence
Images of maternal suffering are an evocative and powerful means of communication in a world where the private grief of victims has increasingly become subject to commodification and public consumption. This article looks at the influence of bereaved mothers as symbols of respect, peace and dignity in the aftermath of violence, and as a result their persuasive presence in family activism. Drawing upon two case studies, this article explores the importance of victims’ stories in public life and, in particular, the presence of the charismatic matriarch in creating communities of solidarity, raising awareness of harms that have previously gone unheard and prompting policy change. It considers the ‘canonical’ story of the mother in public life and concludes by arguing that more attention should be paid to victims’ stories and their influence on policy-making, politics and eventually in becoming public grievances
Orthogonal methods based ant colony search for solving continuous optimization problems
Research into ant colony algorithms for solving continuous optimization problems forms one of the most
significant and promising areas in swarm computation. Although traditional ant algorithms are designed for combinatorial
optimization, they have shown great potential in solving a wide range of optimization problems, including continuous
optimization. Aimed at solving continuous problems effectively, this paper develops a novel ant algorithm termed "continuous orthogonal ant colony" (COAC), whose pheromone deposit mechanisms would enable ants to search for
solutions collaboratively and effectively. By using the orthogonal design method, ants in the feasible domain can explore
their chosen regions rapidly and e±ciently. By implementing an "adaptive regional radius" method, the proposed
algorithm can reduce the probability of being trapped in local optima and therefore enhance the global search capability and accuracy. An elitist strategy is also employed to reserve the most valuable points. The performance of the COAC is
compared with two other ant algorithms for continuous optimization of API and CACO by testing seventeen functions
in the continuous domain. The results demonstrate that the proposed COAC algorithm outperforms the others
Pauli Diagonal Channels Constant on Axes
We define and study the properties of channels which are analogous to unital
qubit channels in several ways. A full treatment can be given only when the
dimension d is a prime power, in which case each of the (d+1) mutually unbiased
bases (MUB) defines an axis. Along each axis the channel looks like a
depolarizing channel, but the degree of depolarization depends on the axis.
When d is not a prime power, some of our results still hold, particularly in
the case of channels with one symmetry axis. We describe the convex structure
of this class of channels and the subclass of entanglement breaking channels.
We find new bound entangled states for d = 3.
For these channels, we show that the multiplicativity conjecture for maximal
output p-norm holds for p=2. We also find channels with behavior not exhibited
by unital qubit channels, including two pairs of orthogonal bases with equal
output entropy in the absence of symmetry. This provides new numerical evidence
for the additivity of minimal output entropy
Constructing Entanglement Witness Via Real Skew-Symmetric Operators
In this work, new types of EWs are introduced. They are constructed by using
real skew-symmetric operators defined on a single party subsystem of a
bipartite dxd system and a maximal entangled state in that system. A canonical
form for these witnesses is proposed which is called canonical EW in
corresponding to canonical real skew-symmetric operator. Also for each possible
partition of the canonical real skew-symmetric operator corresponding EW is
obtained. The method used for dxd case is extended to d1xd2 systems. It is
shown that there exist Cd2xd1 distinct possibilities to construct EWs for a
given d1xd2 Hilbert space. The optimality and nd-optimality problem is studied
for each type of EWs. In each step, a large class of quantum PPT states is
introduced. It is shown that among them there exist entangled PPT states which
are detected by the constructed witnesses. Also the idea of canonical EWs is
extended to obtain other EWs with greater PPT entanglement detection power.Comment: 40 page
Superconductivity in the SU(N) Anderson Lattice at U=\infty
We present a mean-field study of superconductivity in a generalized N-channel
cubic Anderson lattice at U=\infty taking into account the effect of a
nearest-neighbor attraction J. The condition U=\infty is implemented within the
slave-boson formalism considering the slave bosons to be condensed. We consider
the -level occupancy ranging from the mixed valence regime to the Kondo
limit and study the dependence of the critical temperature on the various model
parameters for each of three possible Cooper pairing symmetries (extended s,
d-wave and p-wave pairing) and find interesting crossovers. It is found that
the d- and p- wave order parameters have, in general, very similar critical
temperatures. The extended s-wave pairing seems to be relatively more stable
for electronic densities per channel close to one and for large values of the

Cholinergic stimulation by pyridostigmine bromide before myocardial infarction prevent cardiac and autonomic dysfunction
Inflammatory processes and cardiovascular autonomic imbalance are very relevant characteristic of the enormous dynamic process that is a myocardial infarction (MI). In this sense, some studies are investigating pharmacological therapies using acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, such as pyridostigmine bromide (PYR), aiming to increase parasympathetic tone after MI. Here we hypothesized that the use of PYR before the MI might bring an additional positive effect to the autonomic function, and consequently, in the inflammatory response and cardiac function. The present study aimed to evaluate left ventricular function, baroreflex sensitivity, autonomic modulation, and inflammatory profile in PYR- treated rats previously to MI. Methods: Male Wistar rats (250-300 g) were treated for 60 days with PYR. After treatment, they were submitted to the MI. After the MI, the autonomic and ventricular function were evaluated, as well as the systemic, left ventricle, and adipose tissue inflammatory profile. Results: PYR, performed before MI, prevented HR increase, systolic function impairment, baroreflex sensitivity drop, as well as pulse interval variance, RMSSD, blood pressure and parasympathetic modulation reduction in treated rats compared to untreated rats. Also, this positive functional changes may have been a result of the reduced inflammatory parameters in the left ventricle (IFN-alpha, IL-6, and IL-1 beta), as well as increased IL-10 expression and IL-10/TNF-alpha ratio in treated animals before MI.
