    PEMBELAJARAN IPA MODEL INTEGRATED UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI DAN HASIL BELAJAR PADA POKOK BAHASAN ENERGI DI SMP NEGERI PURWOREJO, JAWA TENGAH

    Telah dilakukan penelitian  yang  bertujuan  untuk  mengetahui peran IPA model  integrated  dalam  meningkatkan motivasi  dan  hasil belajar  peserta didik,  serta untuk  mengetahui kendala-kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam melaksanakan  pembelajaran    IPA  model  integrated  pada pokok bahasan energi.  Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian eksperimental   semu dengan subjek penelitian  siswa kelas VIII SMP N 28 Purworejo, Jawa Tengah, dengan sampel sebanyak 2 kelas,  yaitu kelas VIII E sebanyak 32 orang sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIII F sebanyak 32 orang sebagai kelompok kontrol. Alat ukur penelitian berupa  soal dan kuesioner yang sudah diuji  validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik  analisis yang digunakan adalah uji beda, yaitu    independent sample t test  dan  paired sample t   test.  Hasil uji beda kemampuan awal kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol menunjukkan  tidak ada perbedaan signifikan skor pretes  antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol,  sedang hasil uji beda  postes  dan  pretes  kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol  menunjukkan  terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan rata-rata nilai  postes  dan rata-rata nilai  pretes  kelompok eksperimen.  Pada kelompok kontrol juga terjadi perbedaan yang signifikan rata-rata nilai  postes  dan rata-rata nilai  pretes,  sehingga   untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran IPA  model integrated terhadap hasil belajar IPA digunakan uji beda rata -rata indeks  peningkatan  (gain index)  kedua kelompok. Indeks  peningkatan  rata-rata kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan  bahwa  penerapan pembelajaran IPA  model  integrated  dapat  meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA.Ternyata  indeks  peningkatan   motivasi kelompok eksperimen yang mendapatkan pembelajaran IPA  model integrated  lebih tinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan indeks  peningkatan  motivasi dari kelompok kontrol. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA model  integrated  pada pokok bahasan energi dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar di SMP Negeri Purworejo

    This study describes about Indonesian Diplomacy for UNESCO Patens Saman Dance. It has already been fact to be forced by every nation and state. Nowadays, threat comes from internal and external. From internal, young generations see Saman Dance as an old culture which is too complicated to learn. Other reason is endangerment of the originality Saman Dance caused globalization. And from external, there are so many claims for Indonesian culture.This research shows how the diplomacy of Indonesia which involved many party including the public and other government agencies to get Saman Dance as Indonesian Official Heritage Culture by UNESCO and finally they made it since UNESCO inscribes Indonesia Saman Dance on the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity throgh the meeting on November 24th, 2011 in Bali.Multi-track Diplomacy used to foster peace between state or particular interest. Its authenticity on the fact that it realis on various contributions from Goverment and non Goverment.     Aktivitas Antibakteri Lotion Minyak Kayu Manis Terhadap Staphylococcus Epidermidis Penyebab Bau Kaki

    Trans-cinnamaldehyde is the major chemical compound of cinnamon oil which is potential as an antibacterial agent. Due to this activity, Cinnamon oil can be formulated into a lotion for practical use.This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of cinnamon oil and cinnamon oil lotion against Staphylococcus epidermidis, which causes unacceptable foot odor. This study was a pure experimentalstudy. Stages of this study were starting from the obsevation of antibacterial activity of Cinnamon oil against Staphylococcus epidermidis which was done by using diffusion method to determine the concentrations used in the formulation. Cinnamon oil was then formulated into lotions with variation of concentrations of 12; 18; and 24% (w/w) respectively. Furthermore, the quality of lotion based on itsphysical properties such as viscosity and spread-ability, and the antibacterial activity of lotion were determined. The inhibition zones then were statistically analyzed by using the Kruskal-Wallis test withassistance of R 2.14.1software. The result showed that cinnamon oil lotion had good physical properties at a concentration of 12% (w/w). Cinnamon oil itself and the formulations had significant activity againstStaphylococcus epidermidis. Moreover, cinnamon oil and its formulation showed similar antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis

    Determination of Informal Sector as Urban Pollution Source : Fume Characterization of Small-scale Manual Metal Arc Welding using Factor Analysis in Bandung City

    In developing countries, the informal sector, particularly small-scale welding activities, are considered to be an important contributor to urban air pollution although studies in this sector are limited. This study aims to identify the composition of small-scale welding fume in order to further investigate the effects and set control strategies and urban pollution abatement policies. Breathing zone air samples were collected from 30 mild steel manual metal arc welders and 17 non-welders in Bandung City, West Java, Indonesia. The respirable particulates in air samples were analyzed using gravimetric method, and Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) was employed to identify characteristic of welding fume. It was found that respirable particulates concentration in welders (range : 315.6 and 3,735.93 µgm-3; average 1,545.436 µgm-3) were significantly higher than in non-welders (range : 41.84 and 1,688.03 µgm-3; average : 375.783 µgm-3). Welders’ breathing zones contain Fe>Na>K>Mn>Al >Cr>Ti>Cl>Br>I>Zn>Sb>V>Co>Sc; while non-welders’ breathing zones contain Cr>F>Al>Ti>Na>Br>I>Mn>Cl>Co>Zn>Sc. Inter-species correlation analysis conducted using Statgraphic Ver. 4.0 shows that Fe (range : n.d. – 775.19 µgm-3; average: 0.1674 µgm-3), Co (range : n.d. – 0.51 µgm-3; average: 0.000082 µgm-3), Mn (range : 0.39 – 148.37 µgm-3; average: 0.0374 µgm-3), Na (range: 0.17 and 623.85 µgm-3; average: 0.0973 µgm-3) and K (range : n.d. – 301.15 µgm-3; average: 0.0535 µgm-3) were emitted from welding activity, and thus are considered as components of welding fume which contribute to urban air pollution. Although welding fume and the identified species in welding fume were still below permissible limit, small-scale welding activities have great potential in emitting higher fume concentration due to due to high variability of welding activities, such as welding frequency, materials being welded, and varied environmental conditions.Received: 5 December 2011; Revised: 17 April 2012; Accepted: 20 April 201

    CYTOTOXICITY AND APOPTOSIS INDUCTION BY KAFFIR LIME LEAVES EXTRACT (Citrus hystrix DC.) IN HeLa CELLS CULTURE (HUMAN CERVICAL CANCER CELL LINE)

    Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix) is a native plant of Indonesia. Nowadays the use of plants is limited as ingredients in Indonesia cuisine and aromatherapy oils for industry. Leaves of C. hystrix contain of polyphenols and essential oils thus they were possibly cytotoxic to cancer cell line. The objective of this research was to determine the cytotoxicity effect and apoptosis induced by leaves extract C. hystrix to cervical cancer cell line (HeLa cells). Methods used in this study included sampling of kaffir lime leaves, extractionusing three different solvents (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane), detection of metabolite secondary compound (alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, and tannins) using thin layer chromatography (TLC), cytotoxicity assay via MTT assay, and apoptosis test with double staining method (ethidium bromide-acrydine orange). Result showed kaffir lime crude extract dose dependently inhibitHeLa cells proliferation. lC50of ethanolicand ethyl acetate extract was 82,034 µg/mL and 57,845 µg/mL, respectively means cytotoxic to HeLa cells. On the other hand lC50 of hexane extract was 203,992 µg/mL which was not cytotoxic. Furthermore ethanolic and ethyl acetate extract were able to induce apoptosis of HeLa cells by increasing the number of apoptotic cells. In conclusion, kaffir lime leaves extract had cytotoxic effect and induced apoptosis. Moreover ethyl acetate extractof kaffir lime was the most potential to induce apoptosis in HeLa cells.Keywords: kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix), HeLa, MTT, cytotoxicity, apoptosis
