Gravitational form factors and angular momentum densities in light-front quark-diquark model

We investigate the gravitational form factors (GFFs) and the longitudinal momentum densities (p+p^+ densities) for proton in a light-front quark-diquark model. The light-front wave functions are constructed from the soft-wall AdS/QCD prediction. The contributions from both the scalar and the axial vector diquarks are considered here. The results are compared with the consequences of a parametrization of nucleon generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in the light of recent MRST measurements of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and a soft-wall AdS/QCD model. The spatial distribution of angular momentum for up and down quarks inside the nucleon has been presented. At the density level, we illustrate different definitions of angular momentum explicitly for an up and down quark in the light-front quark-diquark model inspired by AdS/QCD.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures; version to appear in EPJ

Duality of Illusion and Reality in Desai\u27s In Custody

In his article Duality of Illusion and Reality in Desai\u27s In Custody, Narinder K. Sharma analyses Anita Desai\u27s internal confrontation of choices. In the novel, Desai\u27s narration offers various options at every step and the author suggests that it becomes difficult to decide what actually should be done. The attempt is to personalize impersonal time and space thereby brings it into the domain of conflicting choices signifying an existential desire to manifest freedom. Going a step further, it can be deciphered that the individual desires to make an ideal choice to experience authenticity ; however, the desire of making an ideal choice results in the creation of psychic tension. Thus, for Desai, the subject often feels a psychic pull which signifies a lack, a void, or a possibility of something ideal left out or missed. In Sharma\u27s analysis of In Custody the contradiction that splits an individual apart as subjective reflection takes place with relation to making an existential choice

Giant cell tumor distal end radius: resection and reconstruction using proximal fibular graft

    Get PDF
Giant cell tumour forms 4% of all primary tumors. GCT distal radius is very rare. Current study presents a case of a 27 year female who was managed by wide excision and reconstruction with ipsilateral fibula. At one year follow up, patient had excellent range of motion at wrist joint and hand

Alveolar soft part sarcoma masquerading as lipoma: a case report

We report herein, a rare case of a 14-year-old child with alveolar soft part sarcoma. The patient initially noticed a progressively growing mass over medial side of right distal thigh. Although clinically the swelling appeared to be lipoma, the needle biopsy confirmed it to be alveolar soft part sarcoma. Patient was managed by wide excision, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy

Sub-leading twist transverse momentum dependent parton distributions in the light-front quark-diquark model

In this study, the T-even sub-leading twist transverse momentum dependent distributions (TMDs) of proton in the light-front quark-diquark model (LFQDM) have been investigated. We have derived the overlap form of the light-front wave functions (LFWFs) for the sub-leading twist proton TMDs by detangling the un-integrated quark-quark correlator for the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS). We have obtained the explicit expressions of TMDs for both the cases of the diquark being a scalar or a vector and analysed their relationships with leading twist TMDs within the same model. Average transverse momenta and average square transverse momenta for the TMDs have been tabulated and compared with the results from the light-front bag model and the light-front constituent quark model (LFCQM). In addition to this, we have also compared our results for the PDF e(x)e(x) with the recent CLAS collaboration results.Comment: 35 Pages, 12 Figures, 6 Tables. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2301.0953

To study the efficacy and tolerability of fenugreek seed powder as add-on therapy with metformin in patients of type-2 diabetes mellitus

Background: Fenugreek, an ancient herb has been known for its culinary and medicinal value in Indian Subcontinent. Its seeds, rich in fibers and phytochemical compounds, have been investigated for their hypoglycemic and multiple benefits. This study was thus undertaken to assess the anti-hyperglycemic effect of fenugreek seeds in patients of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) as add-on therapy with metformin. Methods: An open-labelled comparative study of 12 weeks duration was conducted on patients (randomly divided in 2 groups of 30 each) of Type 2 DM. Group 1 was given metformin 500 mg twice a day while group 2 was given 500 mg of metformin along with fenugreek seed powder capsule,1 gm thrice a day. Weekly evaluation for fasting and post-prandial blood sugar was done. HbA1c estimation was done at the beginning and at the end of the study. Student’s t-test (paired and unpaired) was applied for statistical analysis. Results: After 12 weeks of treatment, there was significant fall in fasting, as well as postprandial blood sugar and HbA1c levels in group 1 and group 2. However this improvement was statistically more significant in group 2 when compared to group 1.Conclusions: This study shows the beneficial effects of fenugreek seeds on glycemic profile in patients of Type 2 DM and can be used as an add-on therapy with metformin in management of Type 2 DM

Great chromosomal variation among members of family Colubridae

Cytological work was carried out on five common species of snakes of family Colubridae viz. Lycodon aulicus, Boiga trigonata, Ptyas mucosus, Oligodon arnensis and Natrix stolata collected from Botanical garden of Jammu Univ., Moh-Maya area and Bhaderwah Dist. of Jammu region (J&K). Ptyas musosus possesses 2n=34, Natrix stolata possess 2n=36, Lycodon aulicus have 2n=36, Boiga trigonata possess 2n=36 and Oligodon arnensis possess 2n=44. Except Natrix all the colubrid studied have no heteromorphic sex chromosomes. All the colubrids studied possess 2n=36 i.e typical ophidian karyotype except Oligodon arnensis which has 2n=44 and Ptyas mucosus which possess 2n=34 , number of macro and microchromosomes and thus NF varies among different members which can be attributed to para and pericentric inversions between macro and microcomplements

RAM ERROR DETECTION & CORRECTION USING HVD IMPLEMENTATION

    Get PDF
Data that is either transmitted over communication channel (e.g.bus) or stored in memory is not completely error free. RAM memory cell contents can change spuriously due to some electromagnetic interference. In magnetic storage devices such as disks, magnetic flux density increases could cause one or more bits to flip (change that value). Exposure to high speed α ray particles is a prominent problem in all the semiconductor memories used for various communication applications. So, in this paper, an error detection and correction method to protect the RAM against the errors is proposed. This method is based on 2-d parities. The parity bits are calculated at the transmitter end for each row, column and diagonal in slash and backslash directions in a memory array. The parities are regenerated at the receiver end. The comparison of transmitted and received parity bits detects the error. As soon as the error is detected, the code corrects the detected error. This method is a promising technique to detect and correct errors in semiconductor memories in presence of large electromagnetic interference with less computational complexity

Breast metastasis from a renal cell cancer

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Metastases to the breast from extramammary tumours are uncommon, and metastatic renal cell carcinoma to the breast is extremely rare. We report a metastasis to the breast from a renal primary with the radiological and histopathological features. CASE PRESENTATION: An 81-year-old lady was seen in the breast clinic for a right breast mass after sustaining a fall. Clinical examination and investigations revealed a metastatic cancer from a renal primary. She received surgical treatment only and is under regular follow-up in the oncology clinic. CONCLUSION: The treatment strategy for metastatic breast diseases is based on a proper assessment of such cases by surgeons, radiologists and histopathologists
