Naphthali Frankfurter Collection 1829-1862
The collection contains six letters from rabbi Naphthali Frankfurter to his brother Bernhard Frankfurter. The letter dated August 22, 1832, includes a personal note
written by Berthold Auerbach to Bernhard Frankfurter. Also included is a sermon written by Naphthali Frankfurter.Naphthali Frankfurter was born in Oberdorf in 1810. Frankfurter was acting rabbi at Lehrensteinsfeld, rabbi in Braunsbach in Württemberg, and preacher of the temple in
Hamburg. He published Gallerie der ausgezeichnetsten Israeliten aller Jahrhunderte, ihre Portraits und Biographien with his friend Berthold Auerbach. Frankfurter died in Hamburg in
1866.Bernhard Frankfurter was born in Herdorf in 1801. He was a teacher at the Israelitischer Volksschule at Nordstetten, Württemberg, where one of his students was Berthold
