To study the biodiversity of halophilic bacteria in a protected wetland located in Loukkos (Northwest, Morocco), a total of 124 strains were recovered from sediment samples from a marsh and salterns. 120 isolates (98%) were found to be moderately halophilic bacteria; growing in salt ranges of 0.5 to 20%. Of 124 isolates, 102 were Gram-positive while 22 were Gram negative. All isolates were identified based on 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis and characterized phenotypically and by screening for extracellular hydrolytic enzymes. The Gram-positive isolates were dominated by the genus Bacillus (89%) and the others were assigned to Jeotgalibacillus, Planococcus, Staphylococcus and Thalassobacillus. The Gram negative isolates were dominated by the genus Vibrio (41%) and the others were assigned to Halomonas, Psychrobacter, Marinobacterium, Pseudoalteromonas, Salinivibrio and Photobacterium. The growth of strains obtained under different physico-chemical conditions and the screening for hydrolytic enzymes showed a high diversity even within the same species

This study aims at designing and validating the questionnaire as an instrument to assess the lecturers’ perception in terms of factors affecting the ‘online learning environment’. Forty participants who have been teaching English completed the 125 items in questionnaire. The result of the study showed that average variance extracted for peer support was 0.66 and instructor support was 0.52 indicating adequate convergence. The construct reliability showed value of 0.83 for peer support and 0.70 for instructor support indicating the good construct validity. Peer support and instructor support constructs in this study were the model fit to the factors affecting the ‘online learning environment

Selection of halophilic bacteria for biological control of tomato gray mould caused by Botrytis cinerea

In Morocco, tomato gray mould caused by Botrytis cinerea Pers: Fr. is a serious threat for postharvest storage of tomatoes. Fifteen halophilic bacteria were evaluated for their antagonistic activity against B. cinerea: 11 Gram positive strains assigned to the genera Bacillus (9), Jeotgalibacillus (1) and Planococcus (1) and four Gram negative strains assigned to the genera Salinivibrio (1), Vibrio (2) and Photobacterium (1). In in vitro screening, 12 antifungal isolates secreted diffusible compounds, hydrolytic enzymes or volatile compounds. In vivo screening of the isolates, Bacillus safensis CCMM B582 and Bacillus oceanisediminis CCMM B584 showed permanent antagonistic activity on tomato fruits, with 100% inhibition of B. cinerea after 7 days. These two strains may offer potential for biological control of tomato gray mould

Graph Aggregation Based Image Modeling and Indexing for Video Annotation

International audienceWith the rapid growth of video multimedia databases and the lack of textual descriptions for many of them, video annotation became a highly desired task. Conventional systems try to annotate a video query by simply finding its most similar videos in the database. Although the video annotation problem has been tackled in the last decade, no attention has been paid to the problem of assembling video keyframes in a sensed way to provide an answer of the given video query when no single candidate video turns out to be similar to the query. In this paper, we introduce a graph based image modeling and indexing system for video annotation. Our system is able to improve the video annotation task by assembling a set of graphs representing different keyframes of different videos, to compose the video query. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our system to annotate videos that are not possibly annotated by classical approaches
