Shear wall of multi story wall beam system for tall buildings

    Get PDF
Precast construction with wall beam system has gain many advantages in multi storey building construction. In addition, high rise building plays an important role not only in accommodation issue but also in safety issue of the lives during construction and living in that building. Therefore, most of the engineers explore the safer construction methods and economical solution for the construction of multi storeyed building. Moreover, wall beam system has a high resistance in the earthquake (lateral) load since the shear wall has been used as one of the main structural elements. Many research and testing has been done in shear wall analysis using various methods to determine the strength, the behaviour and failure mechanism of the shear wall. In this research work the dynamic properties and failure mechanism of scale-down shear wall with regular openings subjected to real seismic loads on shake table test are discussed. For this purpose, the experimental works are carried out in accordance with PGA (peak ground acceleration), natural frequency, mode of shapes, pushover testing and failure mechanism of the shear wall are evaluated and compared with the results from FEM software (ETABS). To sum up, wall beam system has many advantages in construction and it can be said that it is the most time effective construction method among the other construction methods especially if IBS is introduced. In addition, this type of structural system can withstand the lateral loads (earthquake) than any other types of the structure. Therefore, nowadays, this method has been accepted as one of the most appropriate methods in tall building construction system

Graph-based Household Matching for Linking Census Data

    Get PDF
Historical censuses consist of individual facts about a community. It provides knowledge concerned with the nation’s population. These data apply the reconstruction features of a specific period to trace their ancestors and families changes over time. Linking census data is a difficult task as common names, data quality and household changes over time. During the decades, a household may split multiple households due to marriage or move to another household. This paper proposes a graph-based approach to link households, which takes the relationship between household members. Using individual record linking results, the proposed method builds household graphs, so that the matches are determined by attribute similarity and records relationship similarity. According to the experimental results, the proposed method reaches an F-score of 0.974on Ireland Census data, outperforming all alternative methods being compared

Airphoto Lineaments in the Caledonia Area of Southern New Brunswick

    Get PDF
A system of photogeologic interpretation has been applied on a regional scale in the Caledonia area of New Brunswick, Canada, The orientation of about 700 photolineaments has been measured and their distribution analysed. A statistical partitioning technique applied to the whole region produced six major trends with the strongest trends occurring at 097o±7o, 165o±6o and 141o±9o . None of the strong trends coincides with the orientation of major faults in the area. Detailed examination of structural domains suggests the presence of more than six lineament trends. Correlation of trends from domain to domain is difficult and the genetic significance of lineaments in view of the scarcity of ground information remains in doubt

Network Reconfiguration for Loss Reduction and Voltage Profile Improvement of 110-Bus Radial Distribution System Using Exhaustive Search Techniques

    Get PDF
Nowadays, the electricity demand is increasing day by day and hence it is very important not only to extract electrical energy from all possible new power resources but also to reduce power losses to an acceptable minimum level in the existing distribution networks where a large amount of power dissipation occurred. In Myanmar, a lot of power is remarkably dissipated in distribution system.  Among methods in reducing power losses, network reconfiguration method is employed for loss minimization and exhaustive technique is also applied to achieve the minimal loss switching scheme. Network reconfiguration in distribution systems is performed by opening sectionalizing switches and closing tie switches of the network for loss reduction and voltage profile improvement. The distribution network for existing and reconfiguration conditions are modelled and simulated by Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) 7.5 version software. The inputs are given based on the real time data collected from 33/11kV substations under Yangon Electricity Supply Board (YESB). The proposed method is tested on 110-Bus, overhead AC radial distribution network of Dagon Seikkan Township since it is long-length, overloaded lines and high level of power dissipation is occurred in this system. According to simulation results of load flow analysis, voltage profile enhancement and power loss reduction for proposed system are revealed in this paper

An interdisciplinary approach to restore missing maxillary lateral incisor with Orthodontics and Implant Prosthodontics: A Case Report

Abstract The absence of the maxillary lateral incisors create an asthetic problem that can be managed with different treatment modalities. Comprehensive treatment planning is required to achieve a satisfactory result, keeping in mind the aesthetics, function and periodontal stability. An interdisciplinary treatment approach is beneficial and involves orthodontic closure of the space with maxillary canine substitution or space opening for single- tooth implants, bridges and tooth-supported restorations. The present case of a 21-year-old female dental student with agenesis of maxillary left lateral incisor with the presence of maxillary left canine in place of lateral incisor, and midline deviation. Treatment included space creation and placement of 3.3mm implant together with bone augmentation, immediate temporization and finally restored with porcelain crown after healing period of three months
