Extremely broad hysteresis in the magnetization process of α-Dy2S3 single crystal induced by high field cooling
α-Dy2S3 possesses orthorhombic crystal structure having two crystallograpically inequivalent Dy sites. Magnetization process of α-Dy2S3 single crystal after cooling in the high magnetic field of 18 T has been investigated. The magnetization under the field of 18 T along the α-axis on the cooling process from 150 K shows step-like rises at 70 and 40 K and reaches about 9 μB per one Dy3+ at 1.5 K. This value, which corresponds to 90 % of full saturation moment of Dy3+, is much larger than 6 μB obtained at the same conditions after cooling in no magnetic field (zero-field cooling; ZFC). After cooling to 1.5 K, the magnetization while decreasing field shows abrupt drops at 3.0 and 1.7 T, and then comes to 0 μB at 0 T. Subsequently, while increasing field, the magnetization demonstrates a similar curve to that obtained after ZFC without step-like rise below 13.1 T. At μ0H = 13.1 T, the magnetization rises suddenly and agrees with the curve for the decreasing process. This irreversible magnetization process yields extremely broad hysteresis having width of μ0ΔH = 11.4 T. Broader hysteresis and narrower one are also observed at 4.2 and 10 K, respectively

Chemical trends of superconducting properties in pyrochlore oxides
Chemical trends of fundamental superconducting parameters and normal-state
properties are described for a family of pyrochlore oxide superconductors.
Particularly, the change of Tc from 1.0 K for alpha-pyrochlore Cd2Re2O7 to 3.3
K (A = Cs), 6.3 K (Rb), and 9.6 K (K) for beta-pyrochlore AOs2O6 is discussed
on the basis of the conventional BCS scheme. Enhanced Tc and anomalous features
observed for KOs2O6 are ascribed to low-energy phonons probably coming from the
rattling of the K cations.Comment: 8 pages, to be published in the Proceedings of M2S-HTSC2006 (Physica

Addendum to "Sufficient conditions for three-particle entanglement and their tests in recent experiments"
A recent paper [M. Seevinck and J. Uffink, Phys. Rev. A 65, 012107 (2002)]
presented a bound for the three-qubit Mermin inequality such that the violation
of this bound indicates genuine three-qubit entanglement. We show that this
bound can be improved for a specific choice of observables. In particular, if
spin observables corresponding to orthogonal directions are measured at the
qubits (e.g., X and Y spin coordinates) then the bound is the same as the bound
for states with a local hidden variable model. As a consequence, it can
straightforwardly be shown that in the experiment described by J.-W. Pan et al.
[Nature 403, 515 (2000)] genuine three-qubit entanglement was detected.Comment: Two pages, no figures, revtex4; minor changes before publicatio
High-Field ESR Measurements of S=1/2 Kagome Lattice Antiferromagnet BaCuVO(OH)
High-field electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements have been performed on
vesignieite BaCuVO(OH), which is considered as a nearly ideal
model substance of =1/2 kagome antiferromagnet, in the temperature region
from 1.9 to 265 K. The frequency region is from 60 to 360 GHz and the applied
pulsed magnetic field is up to 16 T. Observed g-value and linewidth show the
increase below 20 K, which suggest the development of the short range order.
Moreover, a gapless spin liquid ground state is suggested from the
frequency-field relation at 1.9 K.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, jpsj2 class file, to be published in J. Phys.

Superconductivity at 2.3 K in the misfit compound (PbSe)1.16(TiSe2)2
The structural misfit compound (PbSe)1.16(TiSe2)2 is reported. It is a
superconductor with a Tc of 2.3 K. (PbSe)1.16(TiSe2)2 derives from a parent
compound, TiSe2, which shows a charge density wave transition and no
superconductivity. The crystal structure, characterized by high resolution
electron microscopy and powder x-ray diffraction, consists of two layers of
1T-TiSe2 alternating with a double layer of (100) PbSe. Transport measurements
suggest that the superconductivity is induced by charge transfer from the PbSe
layers to the TiSe2 layers.Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures. To be published in Physical Review
Absorption Line Survey of H3+ toward the Galactic Center Sources III. Extent of the Warm and Diffuse Clouds
We present follow-up observations to those of Geballe & Oka (2010), who found
high column densities of H3+ ~100 pc off of the Galactic center (GC) on the
lines of sight to 2MASS J17432173-2951430 (J1743) and 2MASS J17470898-2829561
(J1747). The wavelength coverages on these sightlines have been extended in
order to observe two key transitions of H3+, R(3,3)l and R(2,2)l, that
constrain the temperatures and densities of the environments. The profiles of
the H3+ R(3,3)l line, which is due only to gas in the GC, closely matches the
differences between the H3+ R(1,1)l and CO line profiles, just as it does for
previously studied sightlines in the GC. Absorption in the R(2,2)l line of H3+
is present in J1747 at velocities between -60 and +100 km/s. This is the second
clear detection of this line in the interstellar medium after GCIRS 3 in the
Central Cluster. The temperature of the absorbing gas in this velocity range is
350 K, significantly warmer than in the diffuse clouds in other parts of the
Central Molecular Zone. This indicates that the absorbing gas is local to Sgr B
molecular cloud complex. The warm and diffuse gas revealed by Oka et al. (2005)
apparently extends to ~100 pc, but there is a hint that its temperature is
somewhat lower in the line of sight to J1743 than elsewhere in the GC. The
observation of H3+ toward J1747 is compared with the recent Herschel
observation of H2O+ toward Sgr B2 and their chemical relationship and
remarkably similar velocity profiles are discussed.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables, Accepted for publication in
