Use of dialkyldithiocarbamato complexes of bismuth(III) for the preparation of nano- and microsized Bi2S3 particles and the X-ray crystal structures of [Bi{S2CN(CH3)(C6H13)}(3)] and [Bi{S2CN(CH3)(C6H13)}(3)(C12H8N2)]

A range of bismuth(III) dithiocarbamato complexes were prepared and characterized. The X-ray crystal structures of the compounds [Bi{S2CN(CH3)(C6H13)}3] (1) and [Bi{S2CN(CH3)- (C6H13)}3(C12H8N2)] (2) are reported. The preparation of Bi2S3 particulates using a wet chemical method and involving the thermalysis of Bi(III) dialkyldithiocarbamato complexes is described. The influence of several experimental parameters on the optical and morphological properties of the Bi2S3 powders was investigated. Nanosized Bi2S3 colloids were obtained having long-term stability and showing a blue shift on the optical band edge; the presence of particles exhibiting quantum size effects is discussed. Morphological welldefined Bi2S3 particles were obtained in which the fiber-type morphology is prevalent.FCT - POCTI/1999/CTM/ 3545

The superconducting phase transition and gauge dependence

The gauge dependence of the renormalization group functions of the Ginzburg-Landau model is investigated. The analysis is done by means of the Ward-Takahashi identities. After defining the local superconducting order parameter, it is shown that its exponent $\beta$ is in fact gauge independent. This happens because in $d=3$ the Landau gauge is the only gauge having a physical meaning, a property not shared by the four-dimensional model where any gauge choice is possible. The analysis is done in both the context of the $\epsilon$-expansion and in the fixed dimension approach. Alterações bioquímicas em larvas de Danio rerio por exposição à mistura de herbicidas.

Resumo: A cana-de-açúcar é o carro-chefe da agricultura paulista e o Brasil é líder mundial na produção do etanol em larga escala, um combustível renovável que contribui para a redução da emissão de gases de efeito estufa, por evitar a queima de combustíveis fósseis. A alta produtividade desta cultura necessita, entretanto, do uso intensivo de defensivos agrícolas, que podem contaminar mananciais próximos às áreas de cultivo ou mesmo serem transportados afetando ecossistemas distantes. O uso simultâneo de diferentes herbicidas é comum nas lavouras, mas sua interação e o impacto sobre espécies não-alvo não são bem conhecidos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da mistura de herbicidas ametrina e diuron, usada na lavoura canavieira, sobre o desenvolvimento embrionário e a atividade de biomarcadores de larvas de Danio rerio, um cipriníedo tropical amplamente utilizado em ensaios ecotoxicológicos

Aproximación ontosemiótica de prácticas de aula sobre la medida en educación primaria

En este trabajo se presenta un estudio exploratorio sobre prácticas de aula, relacionadas con las magnitudes longitud, tiempo y masa, llevadas a cabo en Educación Primaria en Portugal. El estudio fijó como objetivos determinar qué objetos y procesos matemáticos están implicados en esas prácticas y qué funciones ejecutan profesor y alumnos durante la realización de las mismas. Los resultados han evidenciado el predominio del conocimiento procedimental y algorítmico y el uso de situaciones extramatemáticas o de la vida cotidiana. El profesor es el gestor sistemático del trabajo de los alumnos así como de los tiempos, espacios y materiales disponibles en el aula

Deconfinement transition in three-dimensional compact U(1) gauge theories coupled to matter fields

It is shown that permanent confinement in three-dimensional compact U(1) gauge theory can be destroyed by matter fields in a deconfinement transition. This is a consequence of a non-trivial infrared fixed point caused by matter, and an anomalous scaling dimension of the gauge field. This leads to a logarithmic interaction between the defects of the gauge-fields, which form a gas of magnetic monopoles. In the presence of logarithmic interactions, the original electric charges are unconfined. The confined phase which is permanent in the absence of matter fields is reached at a critical electric charge, where the interaction between magnetic charges is screened by a pair unbinding transition in a Kosterlitz-Thouless type of phase-transition.Comment: RevTex4, 4 pages, no figures; version accepted for publication in PR

Ocorrência da sigatoka negra em bananeiras no Estado de São Paulo.

No mês de junho de 2004 foi identificada no Município de Miracatu, SP, sobre as cultivares Galil 7, Galil 18 e Nam. As características típicas do fungo Mycosphaerella fijiensis foram observadas ao microscópio ótico. Esse é o primeiro relato da doença Sigatoka negra no Estado de São Paulo.Comunicação Científica
