Seleção assistida com uso de marcador molecular para resistência a potyvírus em pimentão.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a presença do alelo Pvr4, que confere resistência contra o PepYMV (Pepper yellow mosaic virus), em genótipos de pimentão comunmente encontrados no mercado brasileiro, com uso de um marcador molecular codominante tipo CAPS. A resistência ao PepYMV, nos genótipos CM?334?INRA, Myr?29 e em genótipos derivados do híbrido comercial Mônica?R, foi detectada como associada à banda de 444 pb, ligada ao alelo de resistência Pvr4. As plantas resistentes homozigotas (pvr4/pvr4) mostraram uma banda de 444 pb, as suscetíveis (Pvr4+/Pvr4+) uma banda de 458 pb e as resistentes heterozigotas (Pvr4+/Pvr4) mostraram as duas bandas. No entanto, no acesso resistente CM?334?UFV, nos híbridos Magali?R e Martha?R, assim como em populações derivadas desse acesso e desses híbridos, a resistência ao PepYMV não esteve associada ao marcador CAPS. O acesso CM?334?UFV ('Criollo de Morelos?334', de Viçosa, MG) distinguiu-se do CM?334?INRA ('Criollo de Morelos?334', da França); embora ambos os acessos tenham sido resistentes ao PepYMV, apenas em CM?334?INRA foi encontrada a associação da resistência com a banda de 444 pb

Spin and Charge Josephson effects between non-uniform superconductors with coexisting helimagnetic order

We consider the spin and charge Josephson current between two non-uniform Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov superconductors with helimagnetic order. We demonstrate that the presence of the helimagnetic phase generates a spin Josephson effect and leads to additional contributions to both single-particle and Josephson charge current. It is shown that for such systems the AC effect differs more radically from the DC effect than in the case of a BCS superconductor with helimagnetic order considered earlier in the literature [M. L. Kuli\'c and I. M. Kuli\'c, Phys. Rev. B {\bf 63}, 104503 (2001)] where a spin Josephson current has also been found. In our system the most interesting effect occurs in the presence of an external magnetic field and in absence of voltage, where we show that the charge Josephson current can be tuned to zero while the spin Josephson current is non-vanishing. This provides a well controlled mechanism to generate a spin supercurrent in absence of charge currents.Comment: final versio

The social determinants of polymorphous prejudice against lesbian and gay individuals: the case of Portugal

In the present article, we analyze polymorphous prejudice against lesbians and gays according to a sample of Portuguese heterosexual individuals. We tested the differential importance of demographic-, ideological-, and psychological-level variables to predicting this phenomenon. Our results show that male, Catholic, right-wing respondents with fewer lesbian and gay (LG) friends prove the group exhibiting the highest levels of polymorphous prejudice. Furthermore, the introduction of psychological-level variables into the regression models increased the explained variance in polymorphous prejudice, above and beyond the remaining predictors. Additionally, we report different patterns of results when deploying regression analyses at the level of the sub-scales of polymorphous prejudice. Interference and complementarity for two-photon hybrid entangled states

In this work we generate two-photon hybrid entangled states (HES), where the polarization of one photon is entangled with the transverse spatial degree of freedom of the second photon. The photon pair is created by parametric down-conversion in a polarization-entangled state. A birefringent double-slit couples the polarization and spatial degrees of freedom of these photons and finally, suitable spatial and polarization projections generate the HES. We investigate some interesting aspects of the two-photon hybrid interference, and present this study in the context of the complementarity relation that exists between the visibilities of the one- and two-photon interference patterns.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. Simple Exactly Solvable Models of non-Fermi Liquids

We generalize the model of Hatsugai and Kohmoto [J. Phys. Soc. Jpn, 61, 2056 (1992)] and find ground states which do not show the properties of Fermi liquids. We work in two space dimensions, but it is straightforward to generalize to higher dimensions. The ground state is highly degenerate and there is no discontinuity in the momentum distribution; i.e., there is no Fermi surface. The Green's function generically has a branch cut.Comment: Revte

Object Play as a Positive Emotional State Indicator for Farmed Spotted Paca (Cuniculus paca)

We aimed to assess whether object play can be used as a positive emotional state indicator for farmed spotted pacas (Cuniculus paca) by examining its association with other positive welfare markers including affiliative behavior and low-amplitude vocalizations. We submitted six groups of spotted pacas (one male/two females per group) (N = 18) to an ABA experimental design (A1/A2: without ball; B: with three boomer balls). Object play behavior occurred only during phase B (mean = 35.5 s, SE = 6.4). The spotted pacas spent more time in affiliative and exploratory behaviors and less time engaging in agonistic interactions during phase B than in both control phases (A1 and A2) (p < 0.05). Moreover, the spotted pacas emitted more low-amplitude bark vocalizations during phase B than during either control phase (p < 0.05), and such vocalizations have previously been shown to indicate a positive affective state and low arousal level. Because the expression of object play was associated with a decrease in aggression, an increase in affiliative behavior, and an increase in low-amplitude barking, we suggest that object play can be used as a non-invasive indicator of positive emotional state in this species

Células de combustível microbianas : um processo inovador para produção de energia e tratamento de águas residuais em sistemas descentralizados

A produção de energia constitui uma base essencial para o desenvolvimento humano. Neste quadro, a capacidade de determinados microrganismos oxidarem matéria orgânica e transferirem eletrões para um ânodo e, por essa via, permitirem a produção direta de eletricidade representa uma efetiva oportunidade tecnológica. Este novo processo, designado por célula de combustível microbiana, constitui uma abordagem de produção de energia elétrica com capacidade para ser acoplada ao tratamento de águas residuais, apresentando elevado potencial para integrar fluxos de eletricidade e tratamento de águas residuais em sistemas descentralizados. No presente trabalho efetuaram-se ensaios eletroquímicos de voltametria cíclica, os quais permitiram reforçar a importância da transferência direta de eletrões e da formação de biofilme eletroactivo na superfície do eléctrodo. O desempenho da MFC para produção de bioeletricidade e tratamento de águas residuais foi efectuado com comunidades microbianas anódicas mista e pura (Geobacter sulfurreducens). As densidades de potência instantânea atingiram máximos de 710 W/m3 com uma cultura pura e 823 W/m3 com a mista, sendo que a remoção de carbono da água residual atingiu valores médios de 83%

Determinação potenciométrica de nitrogênio total, volátil e lignificado em amostras de silagem por injeção sequencial.

As principais formas nitrogenadas em amostras de silagem foram determinadas potencio metricamente empregando eletrodo tubular seletivo acoplado a sistema por injeção sequencial. A utilização do procedimento proposto permitiu automatização das determinações, baixo consumo de amostras e reagentes e pequena produção de afluentes, enfatizando a versatilidade e potencialidade do emprego de métodos de analise em fluxo em laboratórios de nutrição animal
