    Effective data collection scheme for real-spatial group communication over hybrid infra-ad hoc wireless networks

    This paper presents an effective data collection scheme to provide group communications among appropriate members selected by each user’s geographic situation and preference (real-spatial information). When each user directly notifies central servers of user’s information via wireless network infrastructure (Wi-infra), message delivery latency and losses drastically increase due to the network congestion. Therefore, we employ representative nodes (RNs) selected in a distributed manner. The RN first collects the real-spatial information from neighboring nodes via an ad hoc network and then notifies the server via Wi-infra. From simulation experiments, our scheme can drastically reduce both message delivery latency and losses

    Behavioral phenotypes of mice lacking purinergic P2X4 receptors in acute and chronic pain assays

    A growing body of evidence indicates that P2X receptors (P2XRs), a family of ligand-gated cation channels activated by extracellular ATP, play an important role in pain signaling. In contrast to the role of the P2X3R subtype that has been extensively studied, the precise roles of others among the seven P2XR subtypes (P2X1R-P2X7R) remain to be determined because of a lack of sufficiently powerful tools to specifically block P2XR signaling in vivo. In the present study, we investigated the behavioral phenotypes of a line of mice in which the p2rx4 gene was disrupted in a series of acute and chronic pain assays. While p2rx4-/- mice showed no major defects in pain responses evoked by acute noxious stimuli and local tissue damage or in motor function as compared with wild-type mice, these mice displayed reduced pain responses in two models of chronic pain (inflammatory and neuropathic pain). In a model of chronic inflammatory pain developed by intraplantar injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA), p2rx4-/- mice exhibited attenuations of pain hypersensitivity to innocuous mechanical stimuli (tactile allodynia) and also of the CFA-induced swelling of the hindpaw. A most striking phenotype was observed in a test of neuropathic pain: tactile allodynia caused by an injury to spinal nerve was markedly blunted in p2rx4-/- mice. By contrast, pain hypersensitivity to a cold stimulus (cold allodynia) after the injury was comparable in wild-type and p2rx4-/- mice. Together, these findings reveal a predominant contribution of P2X4R to nerve injury-induced tactile allodynia and, to the lesser extent, peripheral inflammation. Loss of P2X4R produced no defects in acute physiological pain or tissue damaged-induced pain, highlighting the possibility of a therapeutic benefit of blocking P2X4R in the treatment of chronic pain, especially tactile allodynia after nerve injury

    Matching based content discovery method on Geo-Centric Information Platform

    We have proposed a concept of new information platform, Geo-Centric information platform (GCIP), that enables IoT data fusion based on geolocation. GCIP produces new and dynamic contents by combining cross-domain data in each geographic area and provides them to users. In this environment, it is difficult to find appropriate contents requested by a user because the user cannot recognize what contents are created in each area beforehand. In this paper, we propose a content discovery method for GCIP. This method evaluates the relevancy between topics specified in user requests and topics representing IoT data used for creating contents, called matching, and presents the candidates for the desired contents based on the relevancy.     Experimental Evaluation of Publish/Subscribe-based Spatio-Temporal Contents Management on Geo-Centric Information Platform

    Cross-domain data fusion is becoming a key driver to growth of the numerous and diverse applications in IoT era. Nevertheless, IoT data obtained by individual devices are blindly transmitted to cloud servers. We here focus on that the IoT data which are suitable for cross-domain data fusion, tend to be generated in the proximity, and thus propose a Geo-Centric Information Platform (GCIP) for the management of Spatio-Temporal Contents (STCs) generated through the cross-domain data fusion. GCIP enables to keep STCs near the users (at an edge server). In this paper, we practically examine the fundamental functions of the GCIP from two aspects: (1) Geo-location aware data collection and (2) Publish/Subscribe-based STC production. Furthermore, we implement a proof-of-concepts (PoC) of GCIP and conduct experiments on a real IPv6 network built on our campus network. In this experiment, we showed that multiple types of IoT data generated in the proximity can be collected on the edge server and then a STC can be produced by exploiting the collected IoT data.     肺癌同所移植モデルマウスの経時的評価における小動物用呼吸同期PET/CTの有用性

    Our aim in this study was to clarify the effects of respiratory-gated PET in the evaluation of lung cancer according to the 18F-FDG uptake in an orthotopic transplantation mouse model. We created such a model, and we performed PET/CT. The mice were divided into two groups according to tumor volume: a small-tumor group (20 mm3). We reconstructed the following conditions based on list-mode data: non-gated (3D) images and gated (4D) images, divided based on the respiratory cycle (expiration phase, stable phase, and inspiration phase). We calculated the maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) in each phase. We used the % difference [= (4D SUVmax – 3D SUVmax)/3D PET SUVmax × 100 (%)] to evaluate the differences in the 4D SUVmax and 3D SUVmax. The 4D SUVmax values were significantly higher than the 3D SUVmax, regardless of the tumor size. The % difference for the small tumors was greater than that for the large tumors, and it was highest in the stable phase. We conclude that the SUVmax in the stable phase under respiratory-gated PET are the most reliable. The SUVmax observed under non-gated PET are considered to be more frequently underestimated in cases involving small tumors than in those involving large tumors. In the chronologic study evaluating the time course of tumor development, the size of the tumor is small in early stage, and respiratory-gated PET is effective in reducing the underestimation of such tumors caused by respiratory motion
