Get PDF
A series of benzothiazol-2-yl-hydrazone derivatives (4a-i) have been synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR and Mass spectroscopy techniques. The synthesized compounds have been screened for antioxidant activity by DPPH radical scavenging activity method. The compounds bearing methoxy substitution4c, 4e, 4f, 4g, 4h and 4i have shown promising antioxidant activity, better than the standard drug ascorbic acid

Durvalumab Plus Carboplatin/Paclitaxel Followed by Maintenance Durvalumab With or Without Olaparib as First-Line Treatment for Advanced Endometrial Cancer: The Phase III DUO-E Trial

PURPOSE Immunotherapy and chemotherapy combinations have shown activity in endometrial cancer, with greater benefit in mismatch repair (MMR)-deficient (dMMR) than MMR-proficient (pMMR) disease. Adding a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor may improve outcomes, especially in pMMR disease. METHODS This phase III, global, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial randomly assigned eligible patients with newly diagnosed advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer 1:1:1 to: carboplatin/paclitaxel plus durvalumab placebo followed by placebo maintenance (control arm); carboplatin/paclitaxel plus durvalumab followed by maintenance durvalumab plus olaparib placebo (durvalumab arm); or carboplatin/paclitaxel plus durvalumab followed by maintenance durvalumab plus olaparib (durvalumab + olaparib arm). The primary end points were progression-free survival (PFS) in the durvalumab arm versus control and the durvalumab + olaparib arm versus control. RESULTS Seven hundred eighteen patients were randomly assigned. In the intention-to-treat population, statistically significant PFS benefit was observed in the durvalumab (hazard ratio [HR], 0.71 [95% CI, 0.57 to 0.89]; P = .003) and durvalumab + olaparib arms (HR, 0.55 [95% CI, 0.43 to 0.69]; P < .0001) versus control. Prespecified, exploratory subgroup analyses showed PFS benefit in dMMR (HR [durvalumab v control], 0.42 [95% CI, 0.22 to 0.80]; HR [durvalumab + olaparib v control], 0.41 [95% CI, 0.21 to 0.75]) and pMMR subgroups (HR [durvalumab v control], 0.77 [95% CI, 0.60 to 0.97]; HR [durvalumab + olaparib v control] 0.57; [95% CI, 0.44 to 0.73]); and in PD-L1-positive subgroups (HR [durvalumab v control], 0.63 [95% CI, 0.48 to 0.83]; HR [durvalumab + olaparib v control], 0.42 [95% CI, 0.31 to 0.57]). Interim overall survival results (maturity approximately 28%) were supportive of the primary outcomes (durvalumab v control: HR, 0.77 [95% CI, 0.56 to 1.07]; P = .120; durvalumab + olaparib v control: HR, 0.59 [95% CI, 0.42 to 0.83]; P = .003). The safety profiles of the experimental arms were generally consistent with individual agents. CONCLUSION Carboplatin/paclitaxel plus durvalumab followed by maintenance durvalumab with or without olaparib demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful PFS benefit in patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer

The impact of women's social position on fertility in developing countries

This paper examines ideas about possible ways in which the extent of women's autonomy, women's economic dependency, and other aspects of their position vis-à-vis men influence fertility in Third World populations. Women's position or “status” seems likely to be related to the supply of children because of its links with age at marriage. Women's position may also affect the demand for children and the costs of fertility regulation, though some connections suggested in the literature are implausible. The paper ends with suggestions for future research.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/45660/1/11206_2005_Article_BF01124382.pd

Phase transition in Pb based tellurite ceramics

125-129Polycrystalline samples of ATeO3 (where A = Pb) were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction technique at 1023K. Preliminary X-ray studies show, the formation of the single-phase PbTeO3 compound with cell parameters a = 8.795 (1) Å, b = 10.312 (1) Å and c = 12.11 Å is an orthorhombic crystal system. Detailed studies of dielectric constant (ε) and loss tangent (tanδ) as a function of frequency (50Hz-100kHz) at room temperature (295 K) and temperature (260-700K) at 10kHz show that compound undergoes a single ferroelectric phase transition of very sharp type at 608K. Both the ac and dc conductivity's have been studied over a wide range of temperature. Measurement of dc resistivity of the material as a function of temperature suggest that compound have negative temperature coefficient of resistance (NTCR) or semiconductor type properties.</span

In today’s scenario, Information Technology industries are compromising their expectations to fulfil the requirement of fresher candidates due to non-availability of job ready students. Industry invests huge cost to train the recruited manpower and make them ready for the on-job work. In this research paper, the researcher identified engineering graduate students’ employability skill sets and validated with the support of data provided by the students’ institute. All skills were grouped into four categories on the similarity and characteristics for the research work i.e., Aptitude, Communication, Technical and Personality skills set. Primary data was collected by using pen & paper test and secondary data was collected by using questionnaires method. The analysis of collected samples was carried out by using Software Package of Social Sciences (SPSS10). The researcher compared the expected performance by stakeholders and actual students’ performance in the designed test. Recruiters were unsatisfied on communication and technical skill sets from recruited engineering students in campus placement recruitment process. All technical institutes need to focus on employment skill sets from the first year to raise their employment possibilities
