Isolated photon and photon+jet production at NNLO QCD accuracy and the ratio
We discuss different approaches to photon isolation in fixed-order
calculations and present a new next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD
calculation of , the ratio of the inclusive isolated photon
cross section at 8 TeV and 13 TeV, differential in the photon transverse

Z+jet production at NNLO
We give a brief overview of our calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading
order (NNLO) QCD corrections to Z+jet production in hadronic collisions.
Phenomenological results are presented which comprise various differential
distributions for 8 TeV proton-proton collisions. A significant reduction of
the scale uncertainties is observed throughout as we move from NLO to NNLO. We
further discuss how this calculation can be used to describe the inclusive
Z-boson production at large transverse momentum. To this end, the theory
prediction is compared to the measurements performed by the ATLAS and CMS
collaborations at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. Here, the inclusion of NNLO
QCD effects are found to result in a substantial improvement in the agreement

Investigating the Effect of Stratospheric Radiation on Seed Germination and Growth
Three seed types: bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), corn (Zea mays) and radish (Raphanus sativus) were flown in a high altitude weather balloon into the mid-stratosphere to investigate the effects of high altitude radiation on germination success and seedling growth. After recovering and planting the seeds, the bean seeds showed lower germination success with exposure to high altitude radiation, and consequently stunted seedling growth. Cord and radish seeds experienced a statistically significant positive effect on germination success form radiation exposure compared to control seeds, but negative effect on seedling growth. Overall, the field experiments presented here support laboratory studies that show radiation exposure on vegetable seeds has a mixed effect on the germination success and negative effect on seedling growth on investigated seed types
Fiducial cross sections for the lepton-pair-plus-photon decay mode in Higgs production up to NNLO QCD
The rare three-body decay of a Higgs boson to a lepton-antilepton pair and a photon is starting to become experimentally accessible at the LHC. We investigate how higher-order QCD corrections to the dominant gluon-fusion production process impact on the fiducial cross sections in this specific Higgs decay mode for electrons and muons. Corrections up to NNLO QCD are found to be sizeable. They are generally uniform in kinematical variables related to the Higgs boson, but display several distinctive features in the kinematics of its individual decay products
Non-radial motion and the NFW profile
The self-similar infall model (SSIM) is normally discussed in the context of
radial orbits in spherical symmetry. However it is possible to retain the
spherical symmetry while permitting the particles to move in Keplerian
ellipses, each having the squared angular momentum peculiar to their 'shell'.
The spherical 'shell', defined for example by the particles turning at a given
radius, then moves according to the radial equation of motion of a 'shell'
particle. The 'shell' itself has no physical existence except as an ensemble of
particles, but it is convenient to sometimes refer to the shells since it is
they that are followed by a shell code. In this note we find the distribution
of squared angular momentum as a function of radius that yields the NFW density
profile for the final dark matter halo. It transpires that this distribution is
amply motivated dimensionally. An effective 'lambda' spin parameter is roughly
constant over the shells. We also study the effects of angular momentum on the
relaxation of a dark matter system using a three dimensional representation of

Automation of antenna subtraction in colour space: gluonic processes
We present the colourful antenna subtraction method, a reformulation of the antenna subtraction scheme for next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) calculations in QCD. The aim of this new approach is to achieve a general and process-independent construction of the subtraction infrastructure at NNLO. We rely on the predictability of the infrared singularity structure of one- and two-loop amplitudes in colour space to generate virtual subtraction terms and, subsequently, we define an automatable procedure to systematically infer the expression of the real subtraction terms, guided by the correspondence between unintegrated and integrated antenna functions. To demonstrate the applicability of the described approach, we compute the full colour NNLO correction to gluonic three-jet production pp(gg) → ggg, in the gluons-only assumption
