    The distribution of coliforms and streptococci in Bombay coastal waters was investigated in order to determine the state of pollution in the area. Findings show the incidence of pollution to be of a recurring nature, primarily due to discharge of raw or improperly treated sewage; thus regular monitoring of the incidence of coliforms and streptococci is of importance in determining the public health safety of the beaches and coastal waters

    Impact environnemental et évaluation de la qualité des eaux par des méthodes chimiques et biologiques « Diatomées »

    Le but de cette étude est de surveiller la qualité des eaux de la Merja Fouarat par l’utilisation des diatomées benthiques comme bio-indicateurs et des variables chimiques telles que DBO5, ammoniums, nitrites et phosphates. L’évolution spatio-temporelle des valeurs de l’Indice de pollution organique (IPO) et de l’indice diatomique Leclercq (IDL), montrent que l’eau de la Merja Fouarat est fortement polluée à cause des rejets non traités des eaux usées domestiques et industrielles. L’IDL et L’IPO se classent dans le même niveau de pollution avec un écart faible (0,27-0,3-0,5-0,2-0,3), témoin que les diatomées intègrent les variations des facteurs polluants. Par ailleurs, les espèces rencontrées possèdent un caractère alcaliphyle prononcé avec uneabondance des espèces résistantes à la pollution organique.Mots clés : Diatomées, qualité de l’eau, bio-indicateur, IDL, IPO, Merja Fouarat

    Fibrosarcome du larynx - A propos d'un cas

    Le fibrosarcome du larynx est une entité histologique rare, qui représente moins de 10% de tous les sarcomes des tissus mous, moins de 2 % des cancers laryngés. Cette localisation pose des problèmes diagnostique, thérapeutique et pronostique. Nous présentons un cas de fibrosarcome laryngé chez un patient de 54 ans. La confirmation histologique etimmunohistologique a été faite sur la pièce d’exérèse chirurgicale et surtout sur une confrontation anatomoclinique. La prise en charge thérapeutique est multidisciplinaire, associant la chirurgie qui doit être la plus complète sans curage ganglionnaire et la radiothérapie. Le pronostic est généralement sévère, dépend essentiellement de degré de différenciation histologique.Mots clés : fibrosarcome ; larynx ; chirurgie ; radiothérapie

    Gene action studies in early maturing maize (Zea mays L.) inbred lines

    The present investigation was aimed to investigate the gene action in early maturing maize (Zea mays L.) inbred lines. The experimental material comprised of 30 crosses generated by crossing six maize inbred lines in a diallel mating design during Kharif 2013. These 30 crosses along with standard checks viz., SMH-2 and VMH-45 were evaluated in randomized block design in three replications during Kharif 2014 and Kharif 2015. Significant variation was observed for all studied traits during both the seasons. Both additive (D) and dominance (H1 and H2) components of genetic variance were found significant under the study. Preponderance of non-additive gene action was observed for all traits under study. Average degree of dominance was in over dominance range for all characters. The gene distribution was asymmetrical for all traits. The value of KD / KR indicated presence of excess of dominant genes for all traits except 100-grain weight and ear girth. Heritability of most of the traits was low to medium

    Protonated carbon nitride incorporated polyamide thin film nanocomposite for reverse osmosis desalination

    Protonated carbon nitride (pCN) prepared from acid treatment of carbon nitride (CN) was incorporated in the polysulfone (PSf) substrate and polyamide (PA) layer to produce thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membrane. The hydrophilicity of CN is expected to improve the surface hydrophilicity of the membrane and acid treatment of nanoparticle is aimed to further enhance the surface structure and prevent the agglomeration of nanomaterial from taking place. pCN loading used in the PSf substrate was 0.5% while in the PA layer was varied as 0.05%, 0.1% and 0.15%. All the membrane prepared were characterized in terms of morphology, structural properties, and surface chemistry. Reverse osmosis dead-end filtration system was used to determine the water permeability and the salt rejection. It was observed that, all the membrane prepared could maintain the salt rejection with improvement of water permeability. However, the salt rejection was sacrificed when higher loading of 0.15% pCN was tested, although the water permeability of the membrane has reached approximately 0.5 LMHbar. This work demonstrates that the use of pCN in RO membrane can improve the water permeability without sacrificing the salt rejection

When 664<α<1\frac{6-\sqrt{6}}{4}<\alpha< 1, 1α<βf(α)1-\alpha<\beta\leq f(\alpha) , where f(α)f(\alpha) is an explicit function as a technical bound, we prove global well-posedness results for rough initial data.Comment: 23page
