Risawe’s Palace, Ilesa Nigeria: Traditional Yoruba Architecture as Socio-Cultural and Religious Symbols

This paper is a situational report of the present position of Risawe’s Chieftaincy palace; one of the chiefs’ palaces in Ilesa town, Nigeria, an extant building of the 21st century. This paper identifies the paramount place of culture and traditions as the basis of Yoruba architectural plan, design and construction. It examines the importance and functions of the courtyardstyle of traditional Yoruba architecture in socio-cultural and religious context. The significance of the chieftaincy palaces in general is also discussed. The paper therefore, focuses on the ancient Yoruba architectural creativity and functionality. The effects of modernization are also mentioned. Data for the paper were collected through field work, oral interviews and published literature. Pengaruh Tingkat Inflasi, Suku Bunga Kredit Konsumsi, dan Dana Pihak Ketiga (DPK) terhadap Kredit Konsumsi Bank Umum di Indonesia, 2004-2008

It aims to find out the influence of inflation rate, interest rate, consumption credit interest, and third party fund toward consumption credit of banks in Indonesia partially and simultaneously, and also to find out a variable which has biggest influence on consumption credit of banks in Indonesia.Research result shows inflation rate, consumption credit interest, and third party fund (clearing account, saving, and fixed deposit) significantly influence consumption credit of banks in Indonesia 2004-2008 period partially and simultaneously, and consumption credit interest has the biggest influence. Implications of this research are in order to keep the increasing of consumption credit, Bank Indonesia should keep inflation rate, consumption credit interest, clearing account, saving, and fixed deposit carefully to keep the stability thus have good impact to economic growth in Indonesia

Significance of Coriolis Force on Eyring-Powell Flow Over A Rotating Non-uniform Surface

Coriolis force plays significant roles in natural phenomena such as atmospheric dynamics, weather patterns, etc. Meanwhile, to circumvent the unreliability of Newtonian law for flows involving varying speed, Eyring-Powell fluid equations are used in computational fluid dynamics. This paper unravels the significance of Coriolis force on Eyring-Powell fluid over the rotating upper horizontal surface of a paraboloid of revolution. Relevant body forces are included in the Navier-Stokes equations to model the flow of non-Newtonian Eyring-Powell fluid under the influence of Coriolis force. Using similarity transformation, the governing equations are nondimensionalized, thereby transforming the nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of boundary value nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The shooting technique is adopted to convert the boundary value problem to an initial value problem, which is in turn solved using the Runge-Kutta-Gill Scheme. At low Coriolis force, temperature profiles increase as Eyring-Powell parameter increases, whereas at high Coriolis force, temperature profiles decrease with increasing Eyring-Powell parameter

Family Characteristics as Correlates of Self Esteem among Young Adults

This study investigated the family characteristics as the correlates of self esteem among young adults. Three hypotheses were postulated to give direction to the study. The participants for the study consisted of two hundred students randomly selected from tertiary institutions in Ogun state. The instruments used for data collection were Rosenberg's (1965) Self Esteem Scale and Personal Data Card constructed by the researchers. The data collected were analyzed with one- way analysis of variance and independent t-test statistical techniques. The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant difference in self esteem of young adults with respect to their ordinal position. Young adults self esteem have no linkage with size of the family and there is a significant gender difference in young adults self esteem. On the basis of the results, it was recommended among others that preferential treatment should be avoided by parents in the course of relating with their children. Strategy and Policy for Empowerment of Duck Farming Business in Brebes Sub-District, Brebes Regency

This study aimed to determine appropriate strategies and policies for empowerment of duck farming business in Brebes Sub-District, Brebes Regency. The method of this study was survey using stratified random sampling with the sample size of 52 laying duck farmers. Data taken in the form of primary and secondary data were analyzed using SWOT analysis. The result indicated that duck farming business did not have Economic Institutions, it was an individual, dependent and unprofessional business because it depended on the middlemen. It can be said that duck farming business in Brebes Regency was a livestock labor business. The strategies and policies for empowerment of duck farming business in Brebes sub-district Brebes Regency included the provision of livestock area facility, waste management, capital, livestock management and development of marketing centers for processed duck meat and eggs products

The influence of socio-cultural factors on knowledge-based innovation and the digital economy.

The knowledge economy, fostered by knowledge-based innovation, has been linked to entrepreneurial and economic success, especially in OECD countries. Studies have shown the influence of socio-cultural factors on almost every area of economic behavior. However, few studies have attempted to connect these factors to the knowledge economy. Our research bridges this gap. We investigated the impact of socio-cultural factors on knowledge-based innovation, then we also examined whether digitalization impacted knowledge-based innovation, regardless of the influence of socio-cultural factors. Using official data from Russia's statistical office, we developed a correlation regression model using a linear graphical test and Pearson correlation. Our results show that certain socio-cultural factors significantly influenced knowledge-based innovation. We also found that digitalization could mitigate the negative effects of socio-cultural factors. Digitalization had a positive influence on knowledge-based innovation across all regions and socio-cultural characteristics. Our research provides pioneering analysis of the topic within post-Soviet economies and has huge implications for business practice, policy making, and academic research

Analisis Kepuasan Pelanggan Pada Pelayanan Kesehatan Dengan Menggunakan Metode Potential Gain in Customer Value (Pgcv) Dan Entropy (Studi Kasus: Rumah Sakit Mardi Waluyo Kota Blitar)

Rumah Sakit Mardi Waluyo Blitar terus berusaha meningkatkan kepuasan pelanggan. Saat ini pengukuran tingkat kepuasan pelanggan rumah sakit menggunakan IKM (Indeks Kepuasan Masyarakat). Meskipun nilai IKM tinggi tapi pada Kenyataannya masih terdapat komplain dari masyarakat yang menjalani rawat inap. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pihak rumah sakit belum memprioritaskan pelayanan apa saja yang perlu diperbaiki dan ditingkatkan Untuk membantu menyelesaikan masalah tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan gabungan metode Potential Gain in Customer Value (PGCV) dan pembobotan entropy. PGCV digunakan untuk mengetahui gambaran pelayanan yang diinginkan oleh pelanggan. Pembobotan Entropy digunakan oleh pihak manajemen untuk melakukan penilaian serta pertimbangan kemampuan manajemen dalam merealisasikan perbaikan tersebut. Di akhir penelitian ini juga akan diberikan rekomendasi perbaikan. Pelayanan yang perlu mendapat perbaikan berdasarkan hasil perhitungan PGCV terbobot antara lain kebersihan dan keindahan rumah sakit, peralatan dan penunjang medis yang lengkap, waktu konsultasi dokter yang cukup, obat-obatan yang tersedia, pemberian informasi mengenai penyakit secara lengkap, dan lain-lain. Rekomendasi perbaikan antara lain penerapan 5R dan audit kebersihan, melengkapi peralatan dan penunjuang sesuai standar, optimalisasi sumber daya dokter yang ada, melengkapi obat yang tersedia di apotek rumah sakit, dokter dan perawat lebih memperhatikan pasien dan lain-lain
