An Analysis of Thematic Progression in High School Students' Exposition Texts

This study aims to investigate how high school students organize their ideas in their Exposition texts, and to what extent their Exposition texts are consistent with argumentative language features in terms of Thematic Progression, based on the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics (e.g. Danes, 1974; Eggins, 2004). The data were nine high school students' Exposition texts from low, middle, and high level of achievement. The result shows that the students organize their ideas in three ways of Thematic Progression, including the Zig-zag Pattern or Simple Linear Theme Progression (SLP), the Re-iteration Pattern or Constant Theme Progression (CTP), and the Multiple Theme Pattern or Derived Theme Progression (DTP). In terms of Thematic Progression consistency, some texts from middle and high achievers are consistent with the argumentative language features, since they employed SLP than CTP and used DTP. Some students still need guidance to create good pieces of writing

Motivasi Cina Menjalin Kerjasama dengan Uni Eropa dalam Program Near Zero Emissions Coal (Nzec) 2007-2013

This research discusses about the motivation of Chinas cooperation with European Union in the Near Zero Emission Coal program. Economic development is a major priority of the Chinese government with promote industrialization. The industrial sector plays an important role in improving the economic growth of China. However industrial activity resulted in environmental degradation with increasing carbon emissions as the increase in energy consumption of coal. In the middle a dilemma of development, the Chinese government cooperating with the EU, which feared to disturb Chinas economic development.The author analyzes this case use qualitative methods that collects data and facts through some literature. This research uses the dependence theory by Theotonio Dos Santos, structuralism perspective and the concept of economic relations and the environment. The results of this research shows there are some Chinas motivations to cooperate with European Union in the Near Zero Emissions Coal (NZEC) program are the interests of Capture Carbon and Strorages technology transfer, capital and markets in Europe. Motivations that lead to China depending on the European Union, especially the dependence of capital and technology industries. The purpose of this paper is identify characteristic pro-environmental behaviours. This study use factor analysis to reduce factor determinant and survei to collect the data. Inisiasi Tunas Aksiler Serta Kalus Toona Sinensis Dan Toona Sureni Dengan Sumber Bahan Stek Cabang

The availability of source material to multifunctional tree Toona sp. have constraints for macro and micro propagation, in this regard, this study aims to:1)observe the formation of buds on T. sinensis and T. sureni stem cuttings in an effort to sustain the availability of explants and 2)analyze the effect of GA4, IBA and BAP growth hormone on regeneration and propagation of the axillary bud initiation and callogenesis through tissue culture. Isolation of stem cuttings was conducted in a greenhouse with number of shoots per nodule and nodule distance as observed.Variables Tissue culture techniques were used to study the effect of exogenous GA4 hormones application on the initiation of axillary buds. The application of IBA hormone on plantlet rooting and callogenesis. The results showed that T. sinensis has 2-7 buds per nodule and nodule distance of 2-5 mm, while T. sureni has one bud per nodule and nodule distance of 5-10 cm. The average length of T. sinensis shoots were 15.8 cm and 17.4 for T. sureni. Enrichment with 1 mg/l GA4 gave the highest axillary shoot length on T. sinensis (8.5 cm ± 0.7228) and (9.8 cm ± 0.1022) for T. sureni. Two mg/l IBA enrichment gave the highest root length of T. sinensis (10.9 cm ± 1.8392) and for T. sureni (7.9 cm ± 0.7633). Three mg/l concentration BAP application gave the best effect in term of callus weight of T. sinensis (1.4 g ± 0.3833). Daylighting Performance of Various Layout Alternatives in an Open Building Apartment in Surabaya

Utilization of natural light in an open building apartment is one of the several ways to save energy. Not only saving energy but it also sustains the healthy life of the occupants. This paper discusses the effect of layout alternatives mainly due to the potential changing arrangement of the bedrooms and the position of transparent window surfaces on daylighting performance i.e illuminance distribution and averages of illuminance. The Method used in this paper is an experimental method using Radiance 1.02 simulation as a tool. The changed layout in which is the bedroom spaces position concentrated on one window side of space with two separated transparent windows provides a good result with a percentage of area fulfills the standards equals to 29
