Amplified wind turbine apparatus
An invention related to the utilization of wind energy and increasing the effects thereof for power generation is described. Amplified wind turbine apparatus is disclosed wherein ambient inlet air is prerotated in a first air rotation chamber having a high pressure profile increasing the turbulence and Reynolds number thereof. A second rotation chamber adjacent and downstream of the turbine has a low pressure core profile whereby flow across the turbine is accelerated and thereafter exits the turbine apparatus through a draft anti-interference device. Interference with ambient winds at the outlet of the turbine apparatus is thus eliminated. Pivotable vanes controlled in response to prevailing wind direction admit air to the chambers and aid in imparting rotation. A central core may be utilized for creating the desired pressure profile in the chamber

Motor is proposed to convert radiation from sun directly into mechanical energy. Motor utilizes thermal expansion of liquid, heated by sun, as driving force. Unlike most thermally powered systems, it does not require that liquid be converted into vapor
Mechanical thermal motor
An apparatus is described for converting thermal energy such as solar energy into mechanical motion for driving fluid pumps and similar equipment. The thermal motor comprises an inner concentric cylinder carried by a stationary core member. The core member has a cylindrical disc plate fixed adjacent to a lower portion and extending radially from it. An outer concentric cylinder rotatably carried on the disc plate defining a space between the inner and outer concentric cylinders. A spiral tubular member encircles the inner concentric cylinder and is contained within the space between the inner and outer cylinders. One portion is connected to the inner concentric cylinder and a second portion connected to the outer concentric cylinder. A heated fluid is conveyed through the tubular member and is periodically cooled causing the tubular member to expand and contract. This causes the outer concentric cylinder to reciprocally rotate on the base plate accordingly. The reciprocating motion of the outer concentric cylinder is then utilized to drive a pump member in a pump chamber
Excitation energy dependence of symmetry energy of finite nuclei
A finite range density and momentum dependent effective interaction is used
to calculate the density and temperature dependence of the symmetry energy
coefficient Csym(rho,T) of infinite nuclear matter. This symmetry energy is
then used in the local density approximation to evaluate the excitation energy
dependence of the symmetry energy coefficient of finite nuclei in a
microcanonical formulation that accounts for thermal and expansion effects. The
results are in good harmony with the recently reported experimental data from

Modification of surface energy in nuclear multifragmentation
Within the statistical multifragmentation model we study modifications of the
surface and symmetry energy of primary fragments in the freeze-out volume. The
ALADIN experimental data on multifragmentation obtained in reactions induced by
high-energy projectiles with different neutron richness are analyzed. We have
extracted the isospin dependence of the surface energy coefficient at different
degrees of fragmentation. We conclude that the surface energy of hot fragments
produced in multifragmentation reactions differs from the values extracted for
isolated nuclei at low excitation. At high fragment multiplicity, it becomes
nearly independent of the neutron content of the fragments.Comment: 11 pages with 13 figure
Nuclear condensation and the equation of state of nuclear matter
The isothermal compression of a dilute nucleonic gas invoking cluster degrees
of freedom is studied in an equilibrium statistical model; this clusterized
system is found to be more stable than the pure nucleonic system. The equation
of state (EoS) of this matter shows features qualitatively very similar to the
one obtained from pure nucleonic gas. In the isothermal compression process,
there is a sudden enhancement of clusterization at a transition density
rendering features analogous to the gas-liquid phase transition in normal
dilute nucleonic matter. Different observables like the caloric curves, heat
capacity, isospin distillation, etc. are studied in both the models. Possible
changes in the observables due to recently indicated medium modifications in

J0316+4328: a Probable "Asymmetric Double" Lens
We report a probable gravitational lens J0316+4328, one of 19 candidate
asymmetric double lenses (2 images at a high flux density ratio) from CLASS.
Observations with the Very Large Array (VLA), MERLIN and the Very Long Baseline
Array (VLBA) imply that J0316+4328 is a lens with high confidence. It has 2
images separated by 0.40", with 6 GHz flux densities of 62 mJy and 3.2 mJy. The
flux density ratio of ~19 (constant over the frequency range 6-22 GHz) is the
largest for any 2 image gravitational lens. High resolution optical imaging and
deeper VLBI maps should confirm the lensing interpretation and provide inputs
to detailed lens models. The unique configuration will give strong constraints

Mass distributions for nuclear disintegration from fission to evaporation
By a proper choice of the excitation energy per nucleon we analyze the mass
distributions of the nuclear fragmentation at various excitation energies.
Starting from low energies (between 0.1 and 1 MeV/nucleon) up to higher
energies about 12 MeV/n, we classified the mass yield characteristics for heavy
nuclei (A>200) on the basis of Statistical Multifragmentation Model. The
evaluation of fragment distribution with the excitation energy show that the
present results exhibit the same trend as the experimental ones.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
