Measurement and modeling of broadband and spectral terrestrial solar radiation is important for the evaluation and deployment of solar renewable energy systems. This paper focuses on optimizing the performance of 200W solar module taking into consideration the local climatic conditions of Bauchi locality. The uncertainty in life cycle savings for solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV) systems as linearly correlated with uncertainty in solar resource data. These uncertainties paved way for the need to conduct a critical assessment of the resource. Assessment of the solar resource for these technologies rely upon measured data, where available. In this paper, we present the development of mathematical model of photovoltaic solar cells based on their detailed single diode equivalent circuit representation. Pertinent simulation models for PV solar module both for an ideal weather situation and for taking into consideration the effects of microclimatic conditions that prevail in Bauchi as evaluated and compared with benchmarks available. The complete model of the PV system was implemented using MATLAB/Simulink platform. The standard characteristic curves for the 200W solar panel are as presented. The simulation of the ideal PV system made use of standard test conditions (STC) to facilitate comparison with the existing benchmark results in the literature. The analysis of the characteristics performance curves returned an average VOC = 42.9v and ISC = 4.21A. The simulation results further revealed that the power delivered by the 200W monocrystalline solar module of 144.3W @620W/m2, 35ºC as recorded for Bauchi under all climatic conditions as evaluated. The benchmark values obtained in the laboratory are VOC = 45.5V, ISC = 5.92A and 200-W under the Standard test condition (STC) conditions of cell temperature 25ºC, solar irradiance of 1000W/m2 and air mass (AM) of 1.5. The average conversion efficiency and fill factor as evaluated are 0.77 and 16% respectively. This result agrees with the benchmark of module efficiency of >15.66% recorded at STC. The results conclusively reveal that the microclimate of a locality essentially affects the performances of solar PV systems deployed to each location on the globe. Therefore, utilization of these parameters is essential for consideration in the design of solar systems in all localities

Background: Genital Chlamydial trachomatis infection, though often asymptomatic, is an established indirect causative agent of female infertility via its activities on the tubal physiology. Many risk factors are postulated for its acquisition and the main thrust of this study was to establish the organisms’ correlates among infertile women attending gynaecologic clinic in Ibadan. Methods: A systematic sampling technique was used on each selected day to recruit women who met the inclusion criteria into the study using a sampling frame of 2. Interviewer-administered questionnaires were used to obtain attributes considered as risk factors for acquiring genital Chlamydia trachomatis infection from 150 consenting infertile women between January and November 2015. These attributes included sexual history, social status, alcohol intake and past history of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Blood samples and endocervical swabs were subsequently taken for detection of C. trachomatis infection using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Data analysis was done using SPSS version 20.0.Results: The mean age of the respondents was 34.1±5.6 years and 7.30% were positive for C. trachomatis. Chlamydia trachomatis infection was significantly associated with past history of gonorrhoea, history of multiple sexual partners, husband that has other sexual partners and lifetime sexual partners greater than one. Conclusions: The prevalence of asymptomatic C. trachomatis among infertile women indicated the pathogen as a potential aetiologic agent of female infertility and supported the asymptomatic nature of the infection. The risk factors found to be associated with the organisms’ infection lend out further support to the sexual transmissibility of C. trachomatis

Purpose: The study examines the compliance level with IFRS 7 by deposit money banks in Nigeria for the period between 2017-2020. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study adopts an un-weighted disclosure index method to test the two hypotheses and using Qualitative Grading System (QGS) to rank the level of compliance with the aid of explorative research design. Findings: The study found that in average, the over-all compliance by DMBs at commencement year stood at 51.04% and this implies that as at the commencement year DMBs weakly complied with the requirements of IFRS 7. Implications/Originality/Value: The study concluded that though DMBs in Nigeria do not totally comply with the provisions of IFRS 7 throughout the study period yet, there have been significant improvements in the level of compliance with the standard disclosure in the annual reports of DMBs in Nigeria. It’s therefore recommending that banks should strive to ensure full compliance with the standards as this will add more confidence in the economy. This must be done with the enforcement of regulatory bodies. The FRCN should intensify its mandate to ensure banks strictly comply with the provisions of IFRS

Punctuation Restoration with Transformer Model on Social Media Data

Several key challenges are faced during sentiment analysis. One major problem is determining the sentiment of complex sentences, paragraphs, and text documents. A paragraph with multiple parts might have multiple sentiment values. Predicting the overall sentiment value for this paragraph will not produce all the information necessary for businesses and brands. Therefore, a paragraph with multiple sentences should be separated into simple sentences. With a simple sentence, it will be effective to extract all the possible sentiments. Therefore, to split a paragraph, that paragraph must be properly punctuated. Most social media texts are improperly punctuated, so separating the sentences may be challenging. This study proposes a punctuation-restoration algorithm using the transformer model approach. We evaluated different Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) models for our transformer encoding, in addition to the neural network used for evaluation. Based on our evaluation, the RobertaLarge with the bidirectional long short-term memory (LSTM) provided the best accuracy of 97% and 90% for restoring the punctuation on Amazon and Telekom data, respectively. Other evaluation criteria like precision, recall, and F1-score are also used

Background: The association of mycoplasma genitalium (M. genitalium) with infertility has been documented. The infections are asymptomatic and difficult to diagnose. Understanding the associated risk factors will help in facilitating better screening measures for at-risk groups. Objective: The aim was to determine the prevalence of, and risk factors for, M. genitalium infection among infertile women in Ibadan. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 402 women (267 infertile and 135 fertile) referred to 2 hospitals in Ibadan between March and November 2015 were enrolled. Information was obtained, using structured questionnaire, on sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics of the respondents while endocervical swabs were obtained for detection of M. genitalium. MgPa gene was diagnosed using the conventional Polymerase chain reaction. Bands corresponding to 495kb were documented as positive for M. genitalium. Results: Among the infertile women, 43 (16.1%) had evidence of M. genitalium infection as against 3 (2.2%) of women without infertility (p<0.001). Associated risk factors included having more than one lifetime sexual partner (OR=10.13, 95% CI: 3.76-33.97); husbands having other sexual partners (OR=12.88, 95% CI: 2.08-90.63); being a serial monogamist (OR=6, 95% CI: 4.35-8.27) and low socio-economic status (OR=2.80, 95% CI: 1.28-6.10). No relationship exists between the previous history of sexually transmitted infections and M. genitalium. Conclusion: The risk factors for M. genitalium infection are similar to those peculiar to other sexually transmitted infections. Its routine screening should be incorporated into the current protocol for microbiological evaluation of infertile women
