dasom?tricas (dap, ?rea basal y altura total).

the exploitation of those in the Colombian Pacific region shows a lack of control. The
estimation of carbon as an environmental service has a high cost, it?s also wasteful and
inaccesible to the managment of local people. It was developed a quick and simple
method to estimate the carbon stored in the total biomass of the tropical rainforest of Bajo
Calima, Valle del Cauca. It was worked with 190 plots located over eight sites, 35 of these
were later remeasured. In all plots, low saplings (total height> 1.50 m and trunk diameter
at breast height -dap- <5.0 cm), high saplings (5.0 <dbh <10.0 cm) and small trees (dbh
? 10.0 cm) were measured. With two local allometric models, the biomass and carbon
were estimated. The measured plots, excluding remeasuring, were classified according
to carbon content by comparing the sampling sites based on their forest variables (dbh,
basal area and total height). A correlation analysis between total carbon and basal area
of trees in the 190 measurements were performed, and a linear model that estimates the
first variable according to the second was developed. The average carbon stock in total
biomass of these forests was 50.2 t/ha. Based on the regression model (Ct = 0.23 + 4.51
* Ab), a measurement and application protocol was developed. This tool will allow local
people to value the importance of carbon in their forests.

Talking and reflecting: Exploring the cognition of a group of English language teachers from the Language Institute of a Colombian public university
This qualitative case study aimed to delve into the cognition of a group of English teachers; that
is, their set of beliefs, knowledge, thoughts, and practices (Borg, 2003). The study also aimed to
investigate the factors that exert influence on their cognition and the significance of participants'
reflections in cultivating self-awareness regarding their cognition. The research was conducted at
the Instituto de Lenguas Extranjeras (ILEX) within Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. The
participant pool comprised six teachers selected to represent a diverse range of teaching
experience, qualifications, ages, and roles within the language institute. Data was collected
through semi-structured interviews and stimulated recall sessions, which were subsequently
subjected to content analysis. The findings shed light on the formation of participants' professional
identity, which was found to be molded mainly by the constituents of their practices, and
educational factors that exert influence on their cognition both formally and informally. Nuances of
participants’ empathy were also found as distinctive characteristics of their cognition. Finally,
participants’ involvement in the research process resulted in a valuable source of reflection.

CLIPSwarm: Converting text into formations of robots
We present CLIPSwarm, an algorithm to generate robot swarm formations from
natural language descriptions. CLIPSwarm receives an input text and finds the
position of the robots to form a shape that corresponds to the given text. To
do so, we implement a variation of the Montecarlo particle filter to obtain a
matching formation iteratively. In every iteration, we generate a set of new
formations and evaluate their Clip Similarity with the given text, selecting
the best formations according to this metric. This metric is obtained using
Clip, [1], an existing foundation model trained to encode images and texts into
vectors within a common latent space. The comparison between these vectors
determines how likely the given text describes the shapes. Our initial proof of
concept shows the potential of this solution to generate robot swarm formations
just from natural language descriptions and demonstrates a novel application of
foundation models, such as CLIP, in the field of multi-robot systems. In this
first approach, we create formations using a Convex-Hull approach. Next steps
include more robust and generic representation and optimization steps in the
process of obtaining a suitable swarm formation.Comment: Please cite this article as "P. Pueyo, E. Montijano, A. C. Murillo,

CineTransfer: Controlling a Robot to Imitate Cinematographic Style from a Single Example
This work presents CineTransfer, an algorithmic framework that drives a robot
to record a video sequence that mimics the cinematographic style of an input
video. We propose features that abstract the aesthetic style of the input
video, so the robot can transfer this style to a scene with visual details that
are significantly different from the input video. The framework builds upon
CineMPC, a tool that allows users to control cinematographic features, like
subjects' position on the image and the depth of field, by manipulating the
intrinsics and extrinsics of a cinematographic camera. However, CineMPC
requires a human expert to specify the desired style of the shot (composition,
camera motion, zoom, focus, etc). CineTransfer bridges this gap, aiming a fully
autonomous cinematographic platform. The user chooses a single input video as a
style guide. CineTransfer extracts and optimizes two important style features,
the composition of the subject in the image and the scene depth of field, and
provides instructions for CineMPC to control the robot to record an output
sequence that matches these features as closely as possible. In contrast with
other style transfer methods, our approach is a lightweight and portable
framework which does not require deep network training or extensive datasets.
Experiments with real and simulated videos demonstrate the system's ability to
analyze and transfer style between recordings, and are available in the
supplementary video
The plants of Doñana National Park’s Marisma (Spain): a key element for conservation of an emblematic european wetland
Doñana National Park (SW Spain) is the
flagship of the Spanish State Protected
Natural Areas. It includes one of the largest
wetlands in Western Europe, the marsh, which
also happens to be the largest sanctuary
for migratory birds on the continent. The
trophic and structural support for this
wetland depends on the plant communities
developed there. However, despite its
importance, the level of knowledge about
the marsh´s plants and their communities is
limited. Here we present a Floristic Catalogue
from the marsh encompassing 247 different
taxa within 61 families. The biogeographic
pattern of the marsh is atypical compared
to other Mediterranean habitat. We find
limited endemism and a predominance of
species with large geographic ranges. We also
describe the main plant communities from
the marsh, which are organized according to
time of flooding and soil salt concentration.
We use this information to identify several
problems that affect the conservation of
ecosystems from Doñana National Park
