Effect of the electrochemical etching (anodization) that is one of the manufacturing process of porous silicon (PS) on the electrical parameters of metal-porous silicon direct hydrogen cell (Metal-PS-DHC) is considerably high. There is 4 basic anodization parameters of n-type, (111) oriented, single crystal PS fabricated in this study (time, current density, HF ratio and light). 5-100 Min. of anodization time, 5-75 mA/cm2 of current density, 1:1- 1:11 of HF:deionized H2O ratio and 1000-7000 lux light intensity is applied. The best anodization time is 40 minutes and corresponding Metal-PS-DHC electrical cell parameters are Voc= 590 mV and Isc=30 µA. The best HF: H2O ratio is 1:3 and the corresponding Metal-GS-DHP electrical cell parameters are Voc= 540 mV and Isc=18 µA. The best light intensity is 4000 lux and the corresponding MetalGS-DHP electrical cell parameters are Voc= 540 mV and Isc=18 µA. As the experimental results show, Metal-GS-DHP electrical cell parameters are directly related to the anodization conditions

WOS: 000381011900006Optical remote sensing satellites obtain MS and Pan images simultaneously over the same coverage area. Remote sensing and image processing communities are working on different pan-sharpening methods capable of taking advantage of MS and Pan images. Each remote sensing system has its own advantages and disadvantages, leading to the question 'Which pan-sharpening method should be used for which type of imagery?' The aim of this research is to investigate the pan-sharpening performance of PLEIADES-1A images. For this purpose, pan-sharpened images were generated using PCA, IHS and Brovey Transform which are the most popular pan-sharpening methods. Then, the pan-sharpened images were evaluated quantitatively using Correlation Coefficient, Root Mean Square Error, Relative Average Spectral Error, Spectral Angle Mapper and Erreur Relative Globale Adimensionnelle de Synthese. In addition, pan-sharpened images were evaluated qualitatively by taking object availability and completeness into consideration.Airbus Defence & Space within the MyGIC Projects; Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)Turkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [114Y380]; Bulent Ecevit UniversityBulent Ecevit University [2014-47912266-01]This work was supported by the Airbus Defence & Space within the MyGIC Projects; Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [grant number 114Y380]; Bulent Ecevit University [grant number 2014-47912266-01]

Combined Efficiency of RPC and DEM Accuracy on Georeferencing Accuracy of Orthoimage: Case Study With Pleiades Panchromatic Mono Image

    No full text
Generation of orthoimages in remote sensing and photogrammetry is a common and sometimes mandatory issue. The desired georeferencing accuracy of the orthoimage depends on two main factors: accuracy of transformation parameters and density and accuracy of height information. The objective of this letter is to estimate the combined efficiency of accuracies of refined rational polynomial coefficients and digital elevation models on georeferencing accuracy of the orthoimage utilizing the figure condition method (FCM). In this letter, details of the method, the characteristics of the evaluated Pleiades panchromatic mono image and auxiliary data, and also the test site are presented. The findings were compared with other results from high-resolution satellite images such as those from IKONOS, QuickBird, and OrbView-3. It is observed that the FCM might be preferred to estimate the overall georeferencing accuracy of an orthoimage, reaching +/- 0.3-2.7-pixel accuracy range. The Pleiades panchromatic mono image presents almost equal accuracy as the compared images. The research was carried out on the Zonguldak (Turkey) test site which has mountainous and extremely undulating topography

WOS: 000381539400003The image quality of Pleiades-1A panchromatic and multispectral as well as pan-sharpened images has been analyzed. The original images are available with 12 bit radiometric resolution, but for mapping purposes often this is reduced to 8 bit, corresponding to the grey value resolution of the computer screens. Therefore, original images as well as the 8 bit images were investigated. Pleiades images are distributed with 50 cm ground sampling distance (GSD) in spite of the original resolution with 70 cm GSD. For this the effective image quality was determined by edge analysis. The edge analysis can be influenced by image sharpening. An image sharpening usually enlarges the image noise, which however can be reduced by filtering. This can influence the presentation of small image details, so in addition to edge and noise analysis image details in the Pleiades images were compared with the details visible in satellite images taken by other sensors having similar ground resolution. A blur analysis did not improve the information about image quality. In the Zonguldak test site (Turkey) Pleiades images are compared with WorldView-1-, QuickBird- and IKONOS-images. The zooming from 70 cm to 50 cm GSD could not be identified by the investigation of the Pleiades image quality. It leads to an even better quality than of the WorldView-1- and QuickBird images with an originally higher resolution.MyGIC program of Airbus Defence and Space; Scientific Research Projects of Bulent Ecevit University [2014-47912266-01]; TUBITAKTurkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [114Y380]The Pleiades-1A triplet bundle images was supported by the MyGIC program of Airbus Defence and Space, and this study was supported by the Scientific Research Projects of Bulent Ecevit University (Project ID: 2014-47912266-01) and TUBITAK (Project ID: 114Y380)

Effects of yeast glucomannan on performance, some biochemical parameters and pathological changes in experimental aflatoxicosis in broiler chickens

The study aims to investigate the effects of yeast glucomannan (GM) (Mycosorb (R), Altech) on performance, biochemical parameters and organ pathology in experimental aflatoxicosis in broiler chickens. A total of 120 one day old broiler chickens were assigned to 4 equal groups according to the dietary treatments: whereas the control birds (group C) received the basal diet, those from the group GM were only supplemented with 0.75 g/kg GM, those from the AF group were orally contaminated with 2 mg/kg total aflatoxins and those from the GM + AF group were exposed to aflatoxins and supplemented with GM for 21 days. Growth performance (body weights, weight gains). feed intake and feed efficiency were weekly assessed on all birds and at the end of the experiment, plasma biochemical parameters, visceral organ masses and conventional histopathology of liver and kidney were determined in 9 birds from each experimental group. The dietary aflatoxin contamination has significantly altered the growth performance (significant decreases in the final weight and in weight gains for the 3(rd) week and for the whole period), the feed intake mainly in the last week and the food efficiency, induced severe degenerative and necrotic lesions coupled to fibrosis in liver and kidney leading to significant changes in total plasma protein, total cholesterol, urea, creatinine and calcium concentrations, as well as in the AST (aspartate aminotransferase) and GGT (earnmaglutamyl transferase) activities. Nevertheless, the weight gains and feed efficiency were partially restored and the uraemia, the creatininemia and the plasma AST activity were significantly improved when aflatoxin contaminated birds were supplemented with GM despite the presence of liver and kidney damage similar to those observed in the AF group. These results demonstrate that a short duration (21 days) period is sufficient for inducing aflatoxicosis in broilers and that the yeast glucomannan supplementation at the dose of 0.75 g/kg may partially alleviated the deleterious effects but was insufficient for preventing tissue damage

WOS: 000283606200011PubMed ID: 20872332Celiac disease is a gluten-induced enteropathy controlled by gluten restriction. Celiac disease is occasionally associated with T-cell lymphoma. We report a case with celiac disease who presented with duodenal ulcer-like symptoms and endoscopic findings. The persistent symptoms despite a strict diet led to the suspicion of an associated malignancy. Intensive evaluation revealed a case with celiac disease associated with B-cell lymphoma. Although B-cell lymphoma is rare, it should be kept in mind especially in female patients with persistent symptoms and refractory celiac disease

23rd Congress of the International-Society-for-Photogrammetry-and-Remote-Sensing (ISPRS) -- JUL 12-19, 2016 -- Prague, CZECH REPUBLICWOS: 000392750100048RASAT, the second remote sensing satellite of Turkey, was designed and assembled, and also is being operated by TOBiTAK Uzay (Space) Technologies Research Institute (Ankara). RASAT images in various levels are available free-of-charge via Gezgin portal for Turkish citizens. In this paper, the images in panchromatic (7.5 m GSD) and RGB (15 m GSD) bands in various levels were investigated with respect to its geometric and radiometric characteristics. The first geometric analysis is the estimation of the effective GSD as less than 1 pixel for radiometrically processed level (L1R) of both panchromatic and RGB images. Secondly, 2D georeferencing accuracy is estimated by various non-physical transformation models (similarity, 2D affine, polynomial, affine projection, projective, DLT and GCP based RFM) reaching sub-pixel accuracy using minimum 39 and maximum 52 GCPs. The radiometric characteristics are also investigated for 8 bits, estimating SNR between 21.8-42.2, and noise 0.0-3.5 for panchromatic and MS images for L1R when the sea is masked to obtain the results for land areas. The analysis show that RASAT images satisfies requirements for various applications. The research is carried out in Zonguldak test site which is mountainous and partly covered by dense forest and urban areas.Int Soc Photogrammetry & Remote Sensin

23rd Congress of the International-Society-for-Photogrammetry-and-Remote-Sensing (ISPRS) -- JUL 12-19, 2016 -- Prague, CZECH REPUBLICWOS: 000392750100082Pleiades 1A and 1B are twin optical satellites of Optical and Radar Federated Earth Observation (ORFEO) program jointly miming by France and Italy. They are the first satellites of Europe with sub-meter resolution. Airbus DS (formerly Astrium Geo) runs a MyGIC (formerly Pleiades Users Group) program to validate Pleiades images worldwide for various application purposes. The authors conduct three projects, one is within this program, the second is supported by BEU Scientific Research Project Program, and the third is supported by TUBITAK. Assessment of georeferencing accuracy, image quality, pansharpening performance and Digital Surface Model/Digital Terrain Model (DSM/DTM) quality subjects are investigated in these projects. For these purposes, triplet panchromatic (50 cm Ground Sampling Distance (GSD)) and VNIR (2 m GSD) Pleiades 1A images were investigated over Zonguldak test site (Turkey) which is urbanised, mountainous and covered by dense forest. The georeferencing accuracy was estimated with a standard deviation in X and Y (SX, SY) in the range of 0.45m by bias corrected Rational Polynomial Coefficient (RPC) orientation, using 170 Ground Control Points (GCPs). 3D standard deviation of +/- 0.44m in X, +/- 0.51m in Y, and +/- 1.82m in Z directions have been reached in spite of the very narrow angle of convergence by bias corrected RPC orientation. The image quality was also investigated with respect to effective resolution, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and blur coefficient. The effective resolution was estimated with factor slightly below 1.0, meaning that the image quality corresponds to the nominal resolution of 50cm. The blur coefficients were achieved between 0.39-0.46 for triplet panchromatic images, indicating a satisfying image quality. SNR is in the range of other comparable space borne images which may be caused by de-noising of Pleiades images. The pansharpened images were generated by various methods, and are validated by most common statistical metrics and also visual interpretation. The generated DSM and DTM were achieved with +/- 1.6m standard deviation in Z (SZ) in relation to a reference DTM.Int Soc Photogrammetry & Remote SensingAirbus Defence and Space; BEU [2014-47912266-01]; TUBITAKTurkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [114Y380]Authors would like to thank to Airbus Defence and Space, BEU (Project ID: 2014-47912266-01), and TUBITAK (Project ID: 114Y380) for their support on the Pleiades projects
