AbstractComputer Technologies growing rapidly has become an indispensable part of modern life. While making social life easier, the changes that technology has brought also bring forth some security issues. Thus, it is easier to commit crimes and we are faced with cyber-crimes. This study examines the differences among the cyber-crime perceptions of undergraduate students at Trakya University in terms of demographic factors. The method of the study was a questionnaire that was given to lecturers and students at Trakya University sample and it was designed to measure and assess the levels of interest in technology, the severity of cyber-crimes and the individuals’ perceptions of cyber-crimes in terms of ethics and law. The findings of the study can help us define the level of common perception of cyber-crimes and the meaningful differences between separate groups

Fetus papyraceous ın a twın pregnancy: a case report without any maternal and fetal complications.

Fetus papyraceous is defined as a compressed fetus, the mummified, parchment-like remains of a dead twin that is retained in-utero after intrauterine death in the second trimester. We report a case of fetus papyraceous (FP) in a diamniotic and dichorionic pregnancy with no maternal and fetal complications during pregnancy or the post-partum period

Isolated torsion of the fallopıan tube in a postmenopausal woman; a rare entity

    Get PDF
Isolated torsion of the fallopian tube is an uncommon cause of acute lower abdominal pain. The lack of pathognomonic symptoms, clinical findings on physical examination, and specific imaging or laboratory characteristics makes this entity difficult to diagnose preoperatively, which can cause surgical intervention to be postponed. We report a case of isolated torsion of the right fallopian tube in a 58-year-old woman with a history of sexually transmitted infection. In most reported cases, there is no vascular flow on Doppler imaging modalities. We also detected high impedance of vascular flow around the cyst wall. Imaging modalities could not provide a definitive diagnosis. Tubal torsion was diagnosed upon laparotomy

Primary tubal carcinoma with a preoperative diagnosis of tubo-ovarian abscess: a case report

Primary tuba carcinoma is a rare carcinoma type and it is quite difficult to diagnose it preoperatively. The patient who was operated by reason of preliminary diagnosis of tubaovarian abscess in our clinic, was diagnosed as primary tuba adenocarcinoma histopathologically. The patient was assessed as in stage IIc and she received chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She developed recurrence after a remission period, and her illness aggrevated into stage IV. After 36 months from diagnosis our case died because of respiratory failure

Applications of Marketing Information System in Banking Sector: A Study on VakıfBank

    Get PDF
Marketing managers have discovered importance of information and information-based marketing system for a long time. They have realized that information is a tool which can change the competition conditions. Companies may gather required information by itself or outsourcing. It is known that many problems have been occurred on information gathering and using process. The purpose of this study is to examine concept of Marketing Information System by literature review and to reveal issues of banking sector applications on information gathering and using. Semi-structured interviewing which is one of the qualitative research methods was used in this study. Implications are discussed and recommendations are given for the banking sector

Investigation of metallo beta lactamases and oxacilinases in carbapenem resistant acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from inpatients

Background: Resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is widespread among Acinetobacter strains. Plasmid-mediated metallo beta lactamases (MBL) are responsible for carbapenem resistance, as are oxacillinases (OXA). In recent years, MBL producing carbapenem-resistant strains have been reported in the world and in Turkey in increasing rates. In our country, besides the OXA 51- like enzyme which is inherent in A. baumannii strains, OXA 58-like and OXA 23-like carbapenemases producing strains have also been widely detected. In addition, Verona Imipenemase (VIM) and (IMP)-type MBL have been reported in some centers. Aims: The aim of our study was to investigate the presence of carbapenemases in Acinetobacter strains isolated from hospitalized patients in Edirne. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A total of 52 imipenem-resistant A. baumannii strains isolated between January and March 2013 were investigated. The presence of MBL was described phenotypically by the combined disk diffusion test (CDDT), double disk synergy test (DDST), MBL E- test (only performed in 28 strains) and modified Hodge test. blaIMP , blaVIM, blaGIM, blaSIM, blaSPM genes and blaOXA-23, blaOXA-51, blaOXA-40, blaOXA-58 genes were inves- tigated by multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The blaNDM-1 gene was determined by PCR. Results: By modified Hodge test, 50 strains (96%) were found to be MBL positive. Positivity of MBL was 21% by both CDDT (0.1 M EDTA) and DDST. Twen- ty-four of 28 strains (85.7%) were positive by MBL E-test. OXA 23-like and OXA 51-like carbapenemases were detected in all strains, but OXA 58-like and OXA 40-like carbapenemases-producing A. baumannii were not detected. Also, MBL genes were not detected by genotypic methods. Conclusion: Only OXA 23-like carbapenemase was responsible for carbapenem resistance in carbapenem- resistant Acinetobacter strains in Edirne. The MBL- producing Acinetobacter strain is not yet a problem in our hospital. MBL resistance was found by phenotyp- ing tests, which must be confirmed by genotypic meth- ods; multiplex PCR tests can be easily used for screen- ing MBL
