The women status and their role in society are very important for the progress of developing countries. As women constitute almost half of the human resources. The role of women in development is closely related to the socio- economic progress which can be achieved through education. Moreover, women can perform the best part for the development of contemporary society. But the status of women in Pakistan especially Pakhtun society is different as compare to western countries. Women are often considered to be a weaker and vulnerable group in society in term of education, employment and business opportunities, legislation and decision making. Gender discrimination may have an adverse impact on a number of valuable development goals. As gender inequality in education and access to resources may prevent a reduction in child mortality, fertility, and an expansion of education for the next generationwhile in the past decades much attention had been paid towards women problems in all over the world. The right of education has become an important and hot burning issue international level and socio-political on domestic level as well. DOI: 10.5901/mjss.2014.v5n23p211

Abstract: This study explores the level of awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) among MBA students at a major Saudi university; MBA students were chosen for this research because these students represent future business leaders. All of the attending MBA students were surveyed, and 204 valid responses were used for the analysis. Four CSR dimensions were investigated: economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic dimensions. Significant differences were found in the respondents' awareness of the CSR dimensions. Significant awareness differences were also found among the respondents based on gender, work experience, and managerial position. Implications, recommendations, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed

The title compound, C16H11BrClN3, contains pairs of molecules lying about inversion centers linked by amino–pyrimidine N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds. The eight-membered rings thus formed are represented by the R 2 2(8) motif in graph-set notation. The second H atom of the amine group shows a rather weak interaction with two Br atoms, resulting in bifurcated N—H⋯(Br,Br) hydrogen bonds. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the benzene rings and the mean plane of the heterocyclic ring are 8.98 (15) and 35.58 (10)°. The Br and Cl atoms show substitutional disorder, with site-occupancy factors of 0.599 (2) and 0.401 (2), respectively

Objective: An observational cross-sectional study to assess sonographic splenomegaly quantitatively in thalassemia patients grouped with respect to transfusion given whole blood vs packed red cells. Methods: A study was conducted among 330 patients equally divided into two groups, undergoing an abdominal ultrasound examination with a transducer frequency ranging from 3-5 MHz during the period December 2021 to August 2022. An independent t-test was applied to compare the splenic volume in thalassemia patients given whole blood transfusions versus packed red cells transfusions, and Cohen's d was used to indicate the standardized difference between two ultrasound splenic volume means. Results: The mean splenic volume of the patients who received whole blood cells was 320.62 ± 219.05 cm3, which is greater than the patients who received packed red cells, whose mean was 60.72 ± 58.72 cm3, The splenomegaly was quantitatively assessed in six age groups ranging from 1 to 3 years, 4 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years, 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years, and 16-18 years and mean splenic volume in each age group was compared to those receiving whole blood or packed red cells transfusion. there is a statistically significant difference between both transfusion receiving groups, having a larger Cohen’s d size effect of 1.62. Conclusion: Ultrasound is a reliable imaging modality for assessing splenic volume and linear parameters of the spleen with greater splenomegaly in thalassemia patients with whole blood transfusions than those with packed red cells when quantitatively assessed according to relevant age groups. Thalassemia patients should be transfused packed red cells to delay splenomegaly, that should be assessed sonographically

Resilience to obesity among socioeconomically disadvantaged women : the READI study

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to identify sociodemographic and behavioural characteristics of ‘overweight-resilient’ women, that is, women who were in a healthy body weight range, despite living in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighbourhoods that place them at increased risk of obesity. The study also aimed to test a comprehensive theoretically derived model of the associations between intrapersonal, social and environmental factors and obesity among this target group.Participants: A total of 3235 women aged 18–45 years from 80 urban and rural neighbourhoods throughout Victoria, Australia, participated in the Resilience for Eating and Activity Despite Inequality study.Measurements: Women reported height, weight, sociodemographic characteristics, leisure-time physical activity, dietary behaviours and a range of theoretically derived cognitive, social and neighbourhood environmental characteristics hypothesized to influence obesity risk. A theoretical model predicting body mass index (BMI) was tested using structural equation models. Results: Women classified as ‘resilient’ to obesity tended to be younger, born overseas, more highly educated, unmarried and to have higher or undisclosed household incomes. They engaged in more leisure-time physical activity and consumed less fast foods and soft drinks than overweight/obese women. Neighbourhood characteristics, social characteristics and cognitive characteristics all contributed to explaining variation in BMI in the hypothesized directions. Conclusions: These results demonstrate several characteristics of women appearing ‘resilient’ to obesity, despite their increased risk conferred by residing in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Acknowledging the cross-sectional study design, the results advance theoretical frameworks aimed at investigating obesity risk by providing evidence in support of a comprehensive model of direct and indirect effects on obesity of neighbourhood, as well as social, cognitive and behavioural characteristics
